If you were to say "I talk to God directly, I don't need the Son", would that be ok with God? The Gospel of Thomas is one of the most emotive texts I've ever read. It's impossible not to thrill with it. Jesus said many beautiful things there. I can't forget the passages about setting fire to the world, the one where he declared he would become those who followed his teachings, or the one where he asked what would happen after two became one. I must read it again, many more times. Thanks for this video.

always sit with a text and let it penetrate you with a deeper understanding. There is no one size fits all, each is on a singular path. When the text says ask without motive for example, maybe you are asking for a new higher paying job but actually you do not want to work. In this case the person has not examined the motive behind what they want and there are always 1000 ways to skin a cat. Everything you want is for the feeling it gives you, do you care if the feeling comes from the new job or more freedom if it is in fact the same feeling? Self reflection and contemplation are key. It is wise not to get too clever. We are very easily lost in our own illusions and doing more work than we have to.

Growing up Christian I was taught that the whole "faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains" thing was something literal. Seeing it taught this way makes so much more sense lol

good video. Osho gave an excellent dissertation on the book of thomas and it is in a book called "the mustard seed". But by far the most useful spiritual document i have studied so far is the Bhagavad Gita. In particular the version translated by Eknath Easwaran. It is available in audiobook form too. It clarifies sooo much in a straight forward manner

The essence of the book of Thomas is Mysticism.
