  • This is the Fender Hammertone Fuzz, part of Fender's new line of affordable pedals. I bought this one after watching a few reviews and demos, and frankly speaking, I'm addicted to fuzz pedals...especially affordable ones.
    In this demo, I am putting the pedal to the test, Light/Medium/Cranked fuzz and Octave examples, boosting both Octave and Fuzz modes and doing a sweep of all knobs and switches to see the range of all of the controls on this Hammertone Fuzz.
    I'm using a 2005 Bad Cat Hot Cat 30r, with matching 2x12 Bad Cat cabinets loaded with V30's. The mic I am using is a Shure SM57, into a PreSonus STUDIO 192 Mobile. My D.A.W. is Reaper, and the post processing is minimal: high pass at 100Hz, Mastering levels at -14dB LUFS.
    I also have a guitar related Podcast where I demo gear and talk about general guitar related topics: TTL Podcast: thetoneloungepodcast.buzzspro...

    still love the fact that you do a level sweep. other demo'ers don't seem to understand that it all reacts differently how loud a pedal is turned up, how it might interact and blend with the compression of the amp, or whatever else!

      I always wanted to know the usable range of the knobs on any given pedal.
      I figured others would want to know as well. 😊

    Thanks for the great demo! I've been eyeballing with this one for a while...after watching this it seems pretty much inevitable I get one haha. Also I love your playing very much - forward pushing, great timing, groovy and you clearly know your fuzziness, awesome dude!

    Very cool demo, nice job. I like the reverb from this series and I like the way this fuzz sounds as well. I had the Pelt from Fender. I thought it was a great pedal and I’m still kicking myself for selling it months ago. This one’s a little different with the octave switch so I think I’m going to try it. If it’s half as good as the reverb is I’ll be happy.
    Thanks for the video

      I've not tried any of their other pedals in this series, but being a fan of fuzz pedals, I can vouch for this one. The price is great and the tones are even better.

      I really dig the lower fuzz settings, but find once it passes past 6, it gets very chaotic. This is kinda cool, but it is also not overly usable.
      I haven't tried one in person, though, so I'm looking forward to it.

    Big time YAY. Love everything 'bout it. Sounds, looks and coolness. If i didn't save to get a decent AC-15 i 'd get one asap and mind you i'm more into germanium sounds. Nice presentation Tone Lounge.

    • @ck2music712
      @ck2music712 Před rokem

      Do you HONESTLY think that you could tell the difference between silicon and germanium? I've found that A LOT of people that say they "like germanium" don't even know which PARTS they're talkin about, or anything else about what makes a pedal work, they just THINK that "they like germanium" cause that's what EVERYONE says... Lol, and by the way, the very NATURE of germanium TRANSISTORS (cause that's the PART that people are referring to) is that they SOUND DIFFERENT in every different situation; A Fuzz pedal with germanium transistors sittin on a 100° stage in direct sunlight will sound DIFFERENT if it's in a climate controlled room, David Gilmore used to put his Fuzz Faces in the FREEZER before recording with 'em... Whereas silicon is much more stable and consistent and will give you a much more consistent sound, but it's "bad" cause "germanium" came first, right? ;)

    • @nikman5300
      @nikman5300 Před rokem

      @@ck2music712 I honestly cannot distinguish anything from anything. Germanium from silicon, valve from solid state, a Gibson from an Epiphone and so on. But there is a niche which you obviously overlooked a bit which is called human nature. I like american muscle cars more than german. Why? German are faster, more economical, better highway cruisers. In this case i'm into 60's psychedelia and i'm after germanium fuzzes like maestro fz-1 and so on. I'm not saying silicon is no good or even better than germanium, or in this case that i will definitely distinguish one from another. Thank you for mentioning though.

    Yes. From about 2 to 5 it’s a killer FAT overdrive. And then it quickly turns into as much nasty fuzz as you want. I run mine in front of a slightly crunchy tone. The octave up is a bonus. Glad I bought it instead of another overdrive pedal. I have 14 overdrives now. But this fuzz is taking over.

    • @TheToneLounge

      Fender are putting out some great pedals. For whatever reason, folks just don't seem to want to have them in the pedal market.

    Behringer is even cheaper, but plastic enclosure not as sturdy. Those Fender Hammer[oftheGods]tone pedals look like they will hold up to more actual use. Nice demo, lots of variety, the Fuzz is strong with this one.

    It looks so coooool 😁 for under 100 it is a realy nice pedal.... I love Fuzz,too but i think for my playing it would be a little bit to aggressiv in my opinion..i loved it boosted but i think for my needs there are other more smoother fuzz options. Okay, I've been a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist for over 30 years now, and I LOVE pedals, especially DRIVE pedals (got about 70 at this point) and I'll admit; I just DON'T GET IT... I don't see how ANYONE can think a Fuzz sound like this sounds GOOD, lol... It legitimately sounds BROKEN, which arguably COULD be cool for a PART or a SOLO or something, but for just a "regular" gig, Fuzz is just completely USELESS to me... To ME, it's the oldest, lamest, most tired, CLICHÈ there is for guitarists (besides a wah), and I just CAN'T understand why EVERYONE seems to be NUTS about Fuzz, lol... The ONLY Fuzz that I REMOTELY like is the MXR BadAss Variac Fuzz with the "bias" control for the "dead battery" thing, cause it's SO MESSED UP and "BROKEN" sounding, but just a regular FuzzFace or a Big Muff? Sounds like crap to ME, and I don't GET why people like it! Oh, and you said that this was based on a "silicon Fuzz face", which I guess is technically true, but with the octave up effect, wouldn't it be closer to a "Blue Box"?
    *Edit- My mistake! A "Blue Box" does do an octave effect, but it's two octaves DOWN... The OCTAVIA was the original Fuzz/Octave up effect...

    • @TheToneLounge
      @TheToneLounge  Před rokem +5

      Here's how I see fuzz. It comes across as the most irritating and unusable guitar effect for a ton of people. They are right, it can totally sound that way for many folks out there. Yet, there are those who hear the possibilities in fuzz. It's basically the sonic equivalent of a wild stallion. You need to understand it if you expect to mount it and enjoy the ride.
      It takes many tries, understanding how to make it work with your rig and knowing how to play the fuzz, as opposed to play "with" a fuzz. I use to be one of the people who hated it and could not understand it. About two years ago I was sent a fuzz to demo, and it just clicked. The stars aligned and it all made sense. Call it an epiphany if you will.
      Some people will never experience that because the effect just has no appeal to them. When that is the case, it is very hard to explain to them why you love something so disgusting and unusable. Words can't change people's minds, only the experience of going down the fuzz rabbit hole. The depth of this one are far and wide, as I am still on this journey with over 30 fuzz pedals and counting.

I became a fuzz addicted, from the gnarliest garage to the sludgest doom travelling between all the classics and i spent more than what i like to admit on simple silicon circuits that could perfectly been assembled with the cheapest ass components by beginners, next stop after this fender is the fuzz war v1, thats gonna be nuts
