  • Dr. Jordan B. Peterson sits down with actor and environmental advocate Adrian Grenier. They discuss his early life on the streets of New York City, his eventual rise to stardom, the reality and decline of Hollywood, why he walked away after reaching the top, and how he grounds himself now through natural practices and the cultivation of his fully sustainable environment-first community.
Adrian Grenier is an American actor, musician, and environmental advocate. He is best known for his portrayal of Vincent Chase in the television series “Entourage” (2004-2011). He has appeared in films such as “Drive Me Crazy” (1999), “The Devil Wears Prada” (2006), “Trash Fire” (2016), and “Marauders” (2016). In 2021, he acted in the Netflix series “Clickbait.” In 2010, Grenier and his business partner Peter Glatzer started SHFT, a brand that promotes sustainability through multimedia. The website won two Webby Awards in 2011 for best website in its category. In 2020, he moved to Austin, Texas, settling on the Kintsugi Ranch, which he and his family have been turning into a fully sustainable, renewable community.

@@bmbmw69 Peterson has had so much influence worldwide you cannot even imagine, seriously, you can't even conceive of it. He's doing interviews with actors, with professors, with scientists, with religious people and philosophers, with writers, with politicians, with leaders of nations etc. on so many subjects I don't even know how he can keep up, and all the while helping many psychologically, helping them get their lives organized and focus on what matters, and he gets to do it by earning from YT and ads instead of having to charge you directly.
You think status with "respected" cravens who would do anything to preserve their comfy positions is more "respectable" than helping millions worldwide? I guess that is one way of looking at the world 🤷‍♂

Every moment and decision of his life that was always questionable or unclear led him to search his soul to find the man that every man is capable of being. I don't believe you need to give up everything to go on a personal journey, if that's what you choose to do, and there is nothing negative about success and comfort. That's a naive idea. This conversation was much more interesting than I thought it would be. I’ve never seen Entourage, don’t know his work. It took a few minutes for him to get comfortable, and he seemed to underestimate the value of his story. And I’m so glad he and his ex reconciled. That was a fun twist made even better by how he told it! ❤

So glad you were able to get your head on straight and find your way, I was the same way, took me into my 30s to finally get my butt in gear and understand my impact on others. Adrian, know this, above all else, God loves you, people care about you.

Peterson has the great skill of adding depth and dimension to a story which might otherwise stay on the surface. I found the start a little slow, but the last half became mesmerizing. "Oh! she really loved you!" Dr. Peterson commented. Not knowing that "she" loved Adrian Grenier so much she was willing to take him back. Maybe this is going to be the first in a new type of interviews from Dr. Peterson. He sure is reinventing himself the entire time. So interesting.

That was SO BEAUTIFUL. I just finished the Daily Wire section and this was such a refreshing and moving conversation. Such a beautiful love story- just the sort of love story I love best, an Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy type of love story in which both partners are better people because of each other.
Dearest Dr. Peterson, you look wonderful. Whatever was troubling you or making you feel unwell seems to have cleared up and I am so happy and thankful.
As for going back on the land, I solemnly believe that if we could gather up all the protesters at these universities and bring them to Northern Maine to pick rocks out of the potato fields, and cut seed potatoes, and prepare the fields for planting, well, we’d all be far happier. I think going back to the land is the answer to all the ills the flesh is heir to.
Adrian’s story made me think of the Paul Davis song “Sweet Life.” There’s nothing sweeter than the love of our children. Even if we are glad to get them tucked in for the night.

Great interview. Before Adrian had his awakening, I must say that 90% of the men today are walking around just reacting and escaping through drugs, alcohol porn, and money and very few want to dig deep and get rid of their addictions and become authentic. As someone in the entertainment industry, and in Southern California, it’s almost impossible to find an authentic man who has gone through the awakening that Adrian has. I hope that others watch this and see that there is hope on the other side for happiness and healing.

Adrian is such a relatable character. He sounds like he could've been any one of the hipster-artist-activist dreamer millennial kids I used to roll with in upstate \downstate NY in my early 20s. A few of them "made it" and are pursuing their (our collective) dream, working the land, building their little homesteads. Many of us "sold out", some are still working on manifesting our dreams, some are tumbling down, riding the struggle bus.
His story, and his character encapsulates our generation, and that's really cool to see portrayed.

His wife is such an amazing example of what it looks like to stand for your value and I’m inspired by her even though I’m probably 20 years older. Also, I was very moved when he said that he’s a good father because he’s of service. I just lost my father, and I’m working on his eulogy today and that’s actually one of the headlines. My father was always in service of his family and his purpose, and it never occurred to him as anything other than a privilege.
