Ranking the Best Bars on Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam

- Every bar on the Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam toured, tested, and reviewed!
Our Holland America Nieuw Amsterdam cruise took us to some fabulous spots in the Caribbean - Aruba, Curacao, and Half Moon Cay (Bahamas). And while those spots were certainly fabulous, there were some spaces on the ship itself that were just as intriguing as the white sand beaches.
Nieuw Amsterdam has 9 bars and lounges that are accessible to all passengers on board. And with Holland America's Have It All package (15 drinks per day, $11 or less), we had a convenient excuse to try out the accessible bars and lounges.
We tried a variety of drinks for our very scientific review. Beach classics like margaritas, mojitos, Mai Tais and Bahama Mamas. Pre-dinner cocktails like Bee's Knees and the Wasabi (featured in Tamarind). And we sipped on a lot of classic cocktails, too - Negroni, Manhattan, Penicillin, Old Fashioned, and more.
So we decided to rate the bars using a 1 - 5 Negroni scale, in honor of Diana's favorite drink. We considered the ambiance, speed of service, and overall quality of the drink.
So which bar wins out? Who was our favorite bartender?

You are right on - my favs are Tamarind and Pinnacle
They are fantastic. On one hand, it's a shame not that many people seem to know about the Tamarind bar. On the other hand, it's so nice having a quiet spot to sit back and enjoy a fantastic cocktail.
I wish more cruises offered quality beer, i.e., craft beer, rather than the usual "meh" offerings. I saw Newcastle Brown ale, which is fine, but someone needs to have good beer somewhere. Thanks for the video!
If you like craft beer, you should consider sailing on Norwegian Encore. We sailed on her in November and loved the District, great beers on tap - and in bottles. We will have a video about it posting in the next few months. So if you haven’t already subscribed 😉.

I’ve sailed the Koningdsam twice and will board Nieuw Amsterdam in a week. I think you can’t beat the Crow’s nest for views, and I love the creative and unique drinks at the Tamarind bar. Cheers!

Sailed on Zaandam in Feb 2023 for 14 days and wanted this anniversary beer but the ship said they did not have it even though HAL said it would be released in Jan 2023. Nope.. First of many disappointments from this ship. By far our worst ship in our HAL experience. Thanks for sharing
It was hard to find the anniversary pils on our cruise. Some venues had it, others did not. And by the end of the cruise, it wasn’t a given.
