  • Bagpipes... Ahh yes, the old family favorite "Cailleach An Dudain" - or to laymen with no Scots' Gaelic: "The Old Wife of the Mill Dust". Ian Werner plays said ditty once again at the Turlock Junior High School just down the road... and lord have mercy, it was 126°F that day in the central valley.

yay! i love how the intense ambient day-time heat coupled with the strenuous nature of a bagpiping session turns me into a sweaty red tomato-faced mess with terrible hair to boot.

very very cool! I always find it interesting watching your videos, and inspirational, because you look like a blond version of myself. I've even had friends ask "Dude, wow, is that you ?" I always have to say....."man I wish I sounded that good" Definately going to be learning this jig.

Bapipe player is a program that plays back the tune while you follow along on the music in program and you can control tempo drone volume etc

Ian, again a very pleasing performance in vert trying conditions. The drones are nice and strong as is the pipe in general - much fuller sounding like that which I prefer. Fingering good but if I may say so a little rushed in parts 5 and 6 in parts. As I said in my comment to Drunkem Landlady - CONTROL is key. You're almost there and I am sure a welcome member of the band! Keep it up, mate!

You're getting a nice sound out of your recording setup and that ain't always easy!
The day I can record my own playing with decent accoustics--as playing outside seems to
accopmlish--is when I'll have the balls to
get something uploaded of a few of my own compositions. There ae too many horribly distorted highland piping recordings on youtube without me adding to the count.
    until then...cheers!

Hi, my friend, how are you? Very nice your sound!!! I play a few time, Iám starting to learn to play fast rithyms. I have difficulties in playing fast tunes. I fumble. Could give any tip to learn: Hornpipes, Strathpeys , jigs and reels?
    Thanks! Stay safe!!!

Focus on doing doubling exercises to make your fingers more steady. Start out slow until you can play whatever you're trying to learn pretty well, then work up to playing a little bit faster.
