out of all of the options I looked at, yours was the best design for 3 reasons, 1 cost effective 2 looked sturdy and 3 it almost looks like it should be like that in the first place! so thanks for sharing and showing the build 👍
Thank you. You just solved a problem for me. I really like the simple design. The only thing I would do different is not butt the 2x4s but lap them with the 2x4s that the casters attach to. That way the weight of the machine is not resting on pocket screws.
Enjoyable dialog. Nice and clear and you didn’t include non related details about how caster wheels were invented. It’s a pleasure to watch true craftsmen easily go through the steps that many of us would struggle with. And you didn’t use tools we’d love to own but never will. Enjoyable lesson.

I hate that, I zone out and then I miss the stuff I need. I just want a clear explanation on what to do and when. I don’t want a history lesson on each tool being used. I followed your measurement in the video and it didn't work out like you explained. I think for part A you have to add 8" inches to account for the overlap of the two by fours. 2" left me short 6" inches short. Thanks for all the good things you do.
I made is mobile base for my jointer. This is the best and easiest design I have found. The only difference in my design was that I did not use pocket screws since I did not want to spend the money on the tool due to it being expensive. So I just made the B boards 7” longer to account for the width of the 2x4 so I could make lap joints and used lag bolts to hold things together. Also used larger casters so I could move the jointer down a wood ramp in the garage from where I store it. The larger casters provide clearance so the bottom of base would not bottom out going down the ramp. Other than these differences, it’s a good, strong and economical way of moving shop equipment around.

I really like the look of this design, nice, simple and clean. I did something similar 2-3 years ago, but with retractable casters - another story. I would have turned it 90 degrees, and left board A out - that provides toe space, so I’m not stubbing my toes all the time. Also, a counterbore in board B for each foot would keep them from slipping. I would also need leveling feet, as my floor has a significant slope, but your low profile design should accommodate leveling feet without difficulty. Note: I started out with the heavy duty side-mounted leveling feet, but that tended to make “board B” twist - they need to be centered. Nice work! I look forward to more. Best wishes and stay safe!
I really like the video and the design of the moving base but I don't understand subtracting 6 inches if your covering 6 plus inches with more 2x4s for the wheels.
Exactly! I made one this morning to this design without questioning it and guess what? The base was too narrow. I recommend you not subtract the six inches.

First I looked on the "Big A" and there was no way I wanted to spend that much. Ordered a set of casters and will be at it. Is there any chance of the saw stand slipping around on this stand? Just askin'. Thanks again.
I love this mobile base, but any suggestions on how to make the stand lower? My saw is already too high for me, and I’m nervous about trying to cut it down, but I really don’t want to take the saw off the stand, as it might go out of true

Caster wheels were invented by John Caster in Detroit, MI circa 1897. Not really 😂
Best way to stop them squeaking
is to use Castor Oil.

Really cheap and easy to build, and it works! I've never understood why companies charge so much for mobile bases for machines. They're so simple.

Did you attach the saw stand to the wood or is it "free-sitting" ?

You've raised the table height approximately 1-11/16".
I’d rather have my machine lower and the stands frame higher. I would consider that low profile.
Wont work for many applications.
