    Hi Tim, thank you for your feedback. I did install the trans skid and after feed back from another Bronco Off Roader, I purchased a differential and rear shock skids. I have not installed yet but after my first desert run it was clear those would be the best for my use. As always, you’re my favorite CZcams presenter, keep up the good work, I consider you a Bronco Mentor.

    Great .... Thanks for the video I wish ..... Mabett made more skid plates for the whole bottom...... like a plate for the plastic oil pan and plastic gas tank, etc etc

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před rokem +1

      I bet they will be coming out with more of them in the future. If you don't want to wait there are several other vendors making full length protection but they are a lot more expensive.

    👍 I've installed a couple of the Mabbett products, and they always fit well. Took advantage of this and just ordered one. Bonus, there's a $10 off coupon also. I don't go off-road, but there's always unexpected road debris one might encounter. Maybe use some sort of thread-lock on the bolt threads?
    Oh, and that's one clean, and clutter-free garage you have there. 👍

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před rokem +1

      Did not know about the coupon, good to hear! Thread lock is a good idea. I know in the near future I will need to have this skid plate removed because my Bronco has a recall on the front drive shaft, so maybe when I reinstall it I will use some blue loctite. Thanks for being a regular watcher and commenter!

    Ok purchased this based on your video, now I’m concerned about the absolute Budget other skid plate recommendations, please. You’re the # 1 source for trusted info. I’ve got a 2022 Black Diamond I’m thinking of more tame overlanding with some 5 level trails. What do you think?

      Hey there...sorry I can't be of much more help since this is the only skid that I purchased. I would recommend you go and search the bronco6g.com forum, there will be a lot of posts there about different skid plates. The biggest difference will be some are steel and some are aluminum. Aluminum is not as strong, but is lighter and cheaper, so if you are doing light offroading I would go with aluminum.

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před 9 měsíci +1

      That is the original 1.0 top that was manufactured around June 2021. However, I have recently exchanged that top for a 2.0 version under the Ford customer satisfaction program. There wasn't anything wrong with it, but they offered to give me a new top so I took it. Now I will need to wrap the 2.0 version as well

    • @Rh0deIslandRed
      @Rh0deIslandRed Před 9 měsíci +1

      Thanks. You answered my real question, which is, would you do the wrap again. Since you are wrapping the new one, I guess you were happy enough with how well it held up. Would you consider having a pro do it? How much $ do you think it would cost to have it done vs diy? I love the channel. It has helped and inspired me along the way. I have a 2021 Race Red with a white stripe and white wheels. I have only owned the soft top, but with limited options coming to market, I'm considering buying a used MIC top and wrapping it white.

    Hi there, in your link below and on Amazon it said is not fit on 2.7L engine. It’s only fit on 2.3L kinna confused to that one

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I believe there is a slight difference that makes the fitment different. For example if you go to this website of a company that sells a similar product, there is an option for the 2.3 and a separate one for 2.7. It indicates the fitment difference is a 'crossmember' rcimetalworks.com/product/transmission-skid-plate-19-present-bronco/

    How much of the catalytic converter does this cover. Thanks.

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před 4 měsíci

      Good question! I just crawled under there to take a look. This does not fully cover the bottom connection of the cat, but it does make it more difficult to get at. Fortunately the top connection of the cat is waaaay up toward the engine so that side is very difficult to get a saw up there. My guess is that cat thefts on Broncos are fairly low compared to other vehicles.

    The skid plate I ord'd is due to arrive this coming Sunday, so I just rewatched the video. Does the rectangular plate that has the two hex nuts attached, and inserted into the frame, come with the bolt that was threaded into the one nut to prevent it from sliding while doing the skid plate install?

    • @BudgetBronco
      @BudgetBronco  Před rokem

      Yes. it comes with 5 bolts and 5 washers, plus the 4 protective cups.

      @@BudgetBronco Thanks for the info. Watched another video (by Mabett I recall) of the install, and it showed having to remove two bolts, and loosen one, on a protective plate on the front portion of the fuel tank. Reply with a link if you would please, I would like to read up on it. If true, one way to think of it would be, if you hit something and it cracks the aluminum skid plate, it certainly would have also cracked your plastic transmission pan. I would rather replace (or weld) the skid plate!
