Really beautiful looking car. This is a really good alternative to other brands like mercedes, bmw, audi if you dont want a lot horsepower! Simply a car which is for driving.

Good to see that some car makers focus on comfort and not sportiness in this segment; especially for the over 50's like myself. Thomas you made me smile when you said "I am not a diesel friend" ;)
I wanted to find out how much this car improved over the Laguna Mark III which I own. It is a bit of a shame that Renault doesn't sell the car over here in the UK. Great review, thanks Thomas you are the coolest and most respectful reviewer on youtube.

Very nice review, I love it. I was waiting for so long time that something that well designed comes from Renault. They were creating mostly not good looking cars (for my taste) and the best looking in past was Laguna. My personal opinion - I am in-love with Laguna Coupe - the best looking and working French car. They are rare to seem but the best design. By creating Laguna 3 they show that they can produce great cars packed with technology. I was amazed to see how produced are Megans (I never liked any of Megan's design) - they are all produced by robot technology! Good to Talisman: Excellent design (different than BMW, AUDI but stands out with its great looking aggressive front face, not that great rear tail (the best looking is still Laguna Coupe's one) but overall - this is the next car I would like to drive. I've spend lots of time trying many cars and I think Talisman tickled my heart. Now about bad things: I don`t like this touch-screen. Laguna 3 still has better and more modern looking interior, inside part is much nicer and cleaner (from designer's eye) in new Passat. But Talisman is much better looking than new Passat. Also I don`t like lower roof (I am 190cm) and I can touch it when sit in back, there is still a bit more room in BMW, but as nearly everybody wants BMW (that is really great designed car) and AUDI (with very nice look but inside is disaster), I love how (old) Opel Insignia looked (also disaster inside), Talisman is my next choice (even Laguna sounds nicer as a word / name, Talisman sounds like a joke for good looking car) :) It would be nice to see / have more versions of this car - like coupe for example. Also good channel, subscribed ;) Keep up with good work!

Thanks again for the nice review! Just a few thoughts: The turning indicator in the Laguna 3 sounds even more strange - and I love it. How is it that every other car manufacturer designs these things in exactly the same boring way? Renault at least makes an attempt to differ in details, and that's what I basically love about french cars. :)
Also, I'd like to mention that the 4-control isn't THAT new in Renaults - it has been available in the Laguna 3 GT for quite a while.
I would have loved to see a little more of the R-Link 2-System: How's the quality of the handsfree function at high speed? I have to admit that it wasn't really good in the Laguna. And have you experienced the online realtime traffic function? It works really nice in the R-Link 1, I hope they haven't changed too much.
One last comment: I also would have liked the "Initiale" trim level available without real leather - but unfortunately, there are some features only available in the Initiale, like better soundproofing (also in the side windows), massage function for the front-seat passenger and extensionable leg rests for the front seats. So when I ordered my Talisman yesterday I chose the "Initiale"... Sorry, cows. :-(
However, I really enjoy your reviews, please keep on the good work and have fun driving all these beautiful cars! :)

Terrific review. Although the interior has some minor flaws I think it really makes a great impression. I'm a fan of the vertical tablet and the infotainment UI looks really nice to me.
This Intens trim level seems to be the best option.
And the wagon is just gorgeous. I prefer it to the sedan because of the added practicality, head space and when well designed like this one I think it becomes nicer than the sedan.

Why infotainment buttons are not at the driver's side? Your arm blocks the screen when you reach the buttons. I'd also use a physical buttons instead of touch as you need feedback (a click, vibration or voice). I don't think you can tell whether you press the button while driving and not looking at the screen.

Ok for the Espace it was something known, but for Talisman and Megane this doesn't seem to be true. In the Talisman it changes also suspension setup differently from Megane.

The plastic side bumpers around wheels are VERY good, trust me. My old Laguna 2 had received a couple of pretty strong bumps into it, and no sign on damage on it, whereas a metal bumper would have to be repaired every time. It's way better than buttons ON the steering wheel, because no matter what direction the wheel ist pointing, the controls are always at the same position, accessible "blindly". Once you are used to it you'll never want anything else. Btdt! ;-)

Very pretty car on the exterior. Nice and bold lines. I like it. Fake exhausts are just current trend line, like wide tail lights. They look good, but knowing they are fake spoils the feeling. Interior, for me, is complete disaster, apart from the seats. Like you said Thomas some good parts, but then very, very poor solutions. But the pinnacle of of bad solutions is that plastic square center console around the display. That is just bad idea, and even worse realization. They kinda tried to pull it out with some stitches on the dash but not near enough. It would be all around great car if they made nicer interior.

Thank you for this great review of my future car. But I'll take it in Estate Version and of course, Initiale Paris (like the one showed in the 18th minute of your video). Good job. Will you make a last review of Talisman in Estate and Initiale Paris ? Have a good day.

Schöner Ergänzungsbeitrag zum vorherigen Review. Ich hatte also nicht zuviel versprochen bezüglich des Diesels, richtig? ;-)

Great review Thomas. The plastic fenders which may be useful for Paris drivers will look absolutely awful with age....just take a look at old Meganes and you will see for yourself how cheap these fenders will look once the sun takes its toll on the bodywork. Renault is taking steps forward but somehow they seem not able to let go of some nasty elements building cars. Copying German cars is never a bad thing...

as a Renault driver, I can explain why there is climate system only accessible via scroll-up bar in lower part of screen, and no fan control cia mechanical buttons... Because we only use climate settings you've seen in upper part (Soft, Normal, Fast) and you only need temperature control with knobs.
Also, I odn't like the fat frame of screen :( it looks like 10 year old tablet, which is bad :(

  • @artemusje2

Thanks for the review! The Talisman is a good looking car from the outside, I think. I like the Estate a lot too, maybe even more than the sedan. I am also someone, who usually prefers the sedan but this one is done really well.
The interior has several details that let the car down and where it 'loses' to competitors such as the Superb. The middle console doesn't look that good (too bad they didn't use the design of the Espace, for example), the screen is quite nice but the surrounding area always shows nasty finger prints. People that are sensitive to such things will have a hard time overlooking that..
I think having a fender out of some plastic is actually good. As you say it can withstand some abuse without getting dents, and it also doesn't rust. And that area is often a trouble spot..
