  • Not really a scientific test but I have to give thumps up to the 550xp. Both saws was bought new in March 2019, both saws in this video have brand new saw chains on them at the time of this cutting in fall, no filing was done yet on brand new chains.........

    I want the 550XP but the Echo seems like a great deal- $200 cheaper, adjustable carb, and 5 year consumer warranty.

    It's really hard to do a real test between two saws unless theres a way to take the human factor out, that being said the 550xp is a little bit faster saw than the 501p but it cost $200.00 more. The only real differences between the two saws is the 550xp has bit more power and auto tune, the rim sprocket is outside the clutch which I like better. I'm sure Echo will soon follow the trend in auto tune carb movement.

    • @oliverm5sc
      @oliverm5sc Před 3 lety +10

      Hopefully Echo will NOT add auto tune, when they dont work lots of money.

    • @thomasdavenport508
      @thomasdavenport508 Před 2 lety +4

      Nope Echo has a great market for old tried and true technology.
      The gig with the auto tune is dealer dependence, just like with all the new technology in the automotive industry. Dealer dependence = F you customer, give us more of your money.
      Cost more at the counter and more to maintain. Failure is designed into the product.
      I'm not willing to trade off a few seconds time on a cut for the problems I've experienced with electronic carburetors.
      I just got rid of a Stihl MS441C because it stops cutting when the air temps are 100 degrees . . .yet my Echo only grows stronger.
      Just got an Echo CS-680 and have an Echo 7310P ordered.
      They're power saws. POWER SAWS. not Mars landing probes. Leave the space age technology in space.
      NOT IN MY POWER SAWS!

    The best saw is one that actually runs. I have a nice 550xp with two months of use on it that's sitting in pieces on my bench. Why? Because Husqvarna chose to use crank bearings with plastic cages in them. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm looking at $400 - $600 to fix it either paying someone else or buying all the special tools I need to do it myself. The saw will likely go in the trash instead.
