The most optimistic predictions in March 2020 was that we'd be waiting until 2026 or 2027 before complete economic recovery. The pandemic recession was far worse than the 2008 financial crisis.

I am from the deep south, I grew up around Republican voters, conservative voters, right-Libertarian types. Every Republican president & governor I have ever been under has done WORSE than Democrats. Does no one remember Kansas Governor Sam Brownback's tax cuts in 2013? It didn't work, the Kansas state budget had to be cut NINE times. Eventually, the Republican state legislature overpowered Brownback's veto and reversed the tax cuts. From 2013 to 2017, Kansas had among the worst economic growth in the United States. Same thing happened with Bobby Jindal in Louisiana, and now with Tate Reeves in Mississippi. The Republican fiscal policy of tax cuts simply do not grow the economy, period. I remember the Great Recession of 2008. Bush really did ruin my childhood with his fiscal policy. Lots of birthdays and holidays where I got cheap gifts or nothing at all. We were poor because of Republican governments. I will never forget that. That's why I'll never vote Republican at any level. For instance, the number of registered Independents matches the number of registered Republicans, and registered Democrats exceed both by millions. Registered Independents tend to vote Democratic by a margin of 2 to 1. So what does this tell you? With a high voter turnout, the Democratic candidate is almost guaranteed to win in most areas. Now, take that information and imagine a presidential election with 95% turnout in all 50 states. Who do you think would win? There are solid economic reasons why funding the poor does more for the economy than funding the rich. The money is more likely to be spent rather than saved, more likely to be spent locally where it contributes to the economy rather than going overseas on luxury goods, and more likely to be spent on things like education and food that actually boost worker productivity. The Republican fiscal policy of tax cuts simply do not grow the economy, period.

but back then the republicans were the war mongers and the ideologues, it all changed when obama got in, as obama said 'we have a real opportunity the change the fundamental nature of this country', obama drone struck more countries than anyone, biden sent 100B to fund a proxy war, Trump was the first president in God knows to not start an overseas altercation he only wound them up, like he said about Ukraine and who he wants to win "I just want everyone to stop dying".
Trump's policies are left wing including the 2017 tax cuts and jobs act.

And even though he said it, his supporters will spin it to suit their agenda.
How can you trust a President that has 20 shell companies and 5 fake names? Well Biden does.
Reaganomics cost me a year and a half of the worst times of my life. No construction meant I had to take jobs with half of my regular pay.
Reagan also started the downfall of education and mental health by defunding both programs.
You simply can't be educated, mentally sound and patriotic if you're still voting for republicans at this stage.
😂 did you really think the high unemployment and inflation of the 70's fixed itself? Fixing an economy requires a slowdown.
@@yourdaddy-mq4km Same old babble from Zachoff the tiggered irrelevant psychopath troll. We all know this is really you. Buzz off !!!!
It would be really have to have more quantitative data, and especially, sources.
If the country was run like a business, one would raise taxes to increase revenue and decrease services and layoff workers to cut costs and increase profits!
Remember, Herbert Hoover, a Republican, led us into he Great Depression. It was a Democrat, FDR, who led us out of it.
Who gave us Social Security? Medicare and Medicaid? Democrats! Screw alternative facts/history Republicans want to rewrite to suit them.
Republicans created the roaring 1920's with tax cuts. They didn't know it would work so well the stock market would crash.
FDR lead us into a needless war.

Another great post Robert! Excellent stuff.
😂 Reich is a fake economist. His lies have been proven by real economists, you can google it.
Neither have been in office to see the full long term effects of what their policies could do
When Diaper Don took office in January 2017, he inherited an economy in its 91st month of economic expansion following the end of the Great Recession. The expansion began in June 2009 and is the longest since at least 1854. The 128-month, record-long expansion came to an end and a recession commenced with the pandemic. Diaper Don had a double-dip recession.
Thank you Robert for citing the facts and exposing the truth!

The reason the National debt grew under Reagan was because the increased defense spending, but the inflows into the treasury actually increased.
This was also during Covid soooo a lot of people couldn’t work and everyone here is hearing exactly what they came looking to hear…
Over 40% of income is not a result of a productive contribution, it is an extraction from the real economy.
“It is suggested that the tipping point for being a rentier economy is when 40 per cent of income comes from rent. Even if just interest and dividends are counted as rent, the USA is already at that point.”
Standing, Guy. The Corruption of Capitalism (p. 114). 2016
Been saying that same thing for decades now.
Same.
I have been saying the same thing for a long time and I am not even from us!
@@darthsidius9631you believe it because that's what the corporate media tells you to believe. In reality Trumps policies created the lowest unemployment in 50 years and Reagan fixed the high inflation and unemployment of the 70's.
Democrats have been stimulating the economy by handing out money directly to the corporation of there choosing while Republicans cut taxes to let all businesses keep more of the money they earned.
@@darthsidius9631 you're brainwashed if you think this video is true.
@@notme2day nah little buddy you've been told what to say for decades. Nothing about this video is true.
Dont forget that loss came from covid at the end, where they were forced to shut down.
None of the politicians we've ever had have been good with Economic plans. Look where we are today. Most people know this countries economic, financial state, and the government itself has been on hospice and spending spree militarily for decades to satisfy corporate interests since 1871.
I said this in 1981 trickle down is like the Colorado River it doesn't get to the ocean
You always have a verry clear and concise way of explaining things and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you calling out the policies, people and corporations that are swindling us regular working-class Americans.
Share this to that family member that needs to hear it. Most aren't reachable at this point but its important to try.
Trickle down economics requires greater than 100% efficiency, I just dont see that happening.
I can only choose between these 2!!!!
331 million in the country and I have to pick between these 2 for a 2ND TIME!!!
Maddening, inn'it.
We need a leader, not a self-serving cult figure.
Preach!!!!
Those are pandemic numbers. Unemployment rate was the lowest in years and pay was increasing higher than inflation
Excellent again Robert. I wish MAGA people would look at the facts.
Yet they don't. They make up their own "facts" on the fly in order to "own the libs" without realizing how imbecilec they're being.
But we all know they never do. He simply tells his gullible goofs whatever they want to hear & it works EVERY time! And no matter how outlandish, unrealistic, etc. it sounds, they are always guaranteed to be convinced that he's "their man" who knows what he's talking about! Does this remind anyone of someone named "Hitler"? Regardless of whatever HE said or DID, his puppets would NEVER abandon him! In their eyes, he could NEVER make mistakes! "Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it."
They just hate Bidens Wars ....
The MAGA mob only accepts 'alternative facts' that don't apply to the REAL world lol! Thus, they prefer a wannabe DICTATOR as president that we know only brings 24-7 chaos, incompetence, lies, and crime everywhere he goes. Be smart, Say NO to Trump! ☑

Love the videos but can you please cite your sources in the video description. It would be awesome to just point others to the sources of the info after watching the video
You can't cite his sources because he is lying. Should have been obvious when he tried to say the economy during the pandemic was Trumps fault.
I had more money in my pocket with trump than Biden and it’s not even close
Truth!
Maybe because covid wasn’t a thing? Maybe because before covid things were ok. Maybe because inflation is rising all across the world
Thank you, I will , I will , I will will, always I will
Such a well done video. I've been following this channel since it's inception. It's like these videos just keep getting better and better. On message, the way they are edited, the motion graphics and quality so on and so on. Thank God for this channel. Professor Reich is doing a great service for the American people.
