Aerith looked so happy when Cloud reciprocated. Aerith deserved that bit of happiness after all the crap she’s been dealt throughout her life. Genuinely curious what they’ll do with the optional scenes in part 3. Tifa will no doubt have the under the highwind scene. I’m positive every character is going to have a scene this time around, though.
I like how no one notices Cloud being kinda of cold towards Aerith in the beginning of the gondola and the reasons why. He’s conflicted, he knows at this point Aerith and Zack(who he remembers as his friend)were a thing, and the gongaga chat with Aerith left him unsure of Aerith feelings towards him. He has no incentive to make a move on Aerith, much less kiss her. That’s why Aerith steps in and lets him know that it is fine and tells him it is him he’s interested in now. The gondola date is a moment of passion and nothing concrete(like being in any type of relationship) Cloud would rather be an edge lord, keeps his guard up, than possibly being rejected.
"She tells him he's interested now"? So now Aerith can tell Cloud what he should or should not feel? She tells him to indulge her until the ride is over and when she says thanks, he says "but I didn't do anything", because the reason why he held her hand, was because he knew she's still grieving for Zack. She says herself she still loves him in Gongaga. She actually says "yes" in Japanese, but obviously the localization hates the human and sensitive side of Aerith and makes her say "maybe". Why do people have to project their own feelings on them? Especially when Cloud's not confused at all. If you wanna see him actually reciprocating feelings with his own words and making a move, then you should watch Tifa's date lol. Cloud isn't an edgelord, he has no problem being touchy with those he really loves, neither he's someone who hides his own feelings. He's just a dork and an introvert and he doesn't love Aerith that way, otherwise he surely would have kissed her...not only that, but he's an open book, I don't know about edgelord, when he has very expressive reactions to emotions. He's never cold to Tifa during their date for example... It's funny some have to paint him as an edgelord and someone who"doesn't talk to "not being rejected" to explain why he doesn't answer to Aerith's feelings. Does it even make sense? Maybe he's not stupid lol maybe he just doesn't bother acting on feelings he doesn't have, despite he cares about Aerith. Yup, this 100%. I always look at it like this: Imagine your dead best bro's former girlfriend, tells you that she has feelings for you (Oh, and you just remember he existed). Would you reciprocate right away or would you be hesitant? Of course Cloud is hesitant in this moment, and needs affirmation. People forget that Cloud even asks Aerith in Gongaga: "This Zack guy, you still like him?"

Not yet, she will be back in part 3, although i think not permanently. Sephiroth said to cloud that maybe he needs a push to follow his plans of reunion of worlds...what would make cloud want to reunite worlds? Aerith being gone in his timeline but okay in another one, so the only way to see her again is following sephs plan, so i do think she will be back for a final goodbye and probably there is when they will have their big moment(although probably being optional scene)
