50% discount compared to buying spot Bitcoin from an exchange gets me harder than woodpecker lips! Great interview Major Sir!! Fantastic to see a genuine competitor to Compass.

Hi Ian, I've been following yr channel and learning a lot about btc. Just a question about Sazmining, are they a legitimate company? I've seen many friends get burnt by these ;hosted mining' scheme that isn't actually and hosted mining but ponzi schemes that lures ppl into it and closes down after less than a year?

Ian - maybe they should consider spending some marketing dollars and fly someone like you in to do a video tour one (or more) of their facilities and post to your YT channel

You’re definitely right to be skeptical of hosted mining after what has happened with other providers. I have personal experience with Compass Mining which was a nightmare and so I don’t take this topic lightly.
I would even go so far as to say if you can mine at home, do it. Especially if you live in a colder climate, you can use heat output from machines to lower heating bills in the winter and thus offset what are going to be significantly higher residential electricity rates that you pay.
The problem though is that mining at home is simply not realistic for the vast majority of people, and you really need to know what you’re doing to do it.
So I still think hosted mining (*with proper acknowledgement of the risks*) is an important service for people to be aware of and believe Sazmining to be one of the very few players worth partnering with. Does that mean this is riskless? Absolutely not. But when incentives are aligned it’s a powerful thing - Sazmining is the first provider I’m aware of that doesn’t make money on selling you machines or hosting; rather they make their money on the rewards the machines generate so there is a clear shared incentive to maximize your uptime and speed of deployment which is completely different in every other major provider I’ve seen.
I wouldn’t recommend putting all your eggs in any single provider either but think if you’re going to do it these guys are one of the few legitimate options.
      Hope that helps!

@@IanMajor Thanks for taking the time to write this reply. One of my friends asked, "What is the incentive for the hosting company? Why doesn't the hosting company simply mine all the bitcoin themselves and use BTC profits to buy more machines? How is it more profitable for Sazmining to host people than for Sazmining to do all their own mining?" Thanks.

@@kirkD9349 good question. The answer is two fold. 1) being CAPEX light allows us to scale a business with higher margins and 2) we remember Levi's today with roots in the analog gold rush, but can you recall any successful gold miners?
