The crazy part about all this is that, mostly all the 90's shows they have cancelled, it's much better than the shows they play on tv today.
Sadly... 😢
Vanessa Bell Calloway, Terrence Howard, Miguel Nunez, and Merlin Santana spent the 90's hustlin these shows out 💪🏿❤️
Vanessa Bell Calloway is such an underrated beauty and actress. Under One Roof deserved more,I like that concept
She mid
I hate to back date myself, but I recognize A LOT of the shows in this series of videos.
It’s wild how they canceled Tall Hopes but used it to be the outline for Boy Meets World
Unfortunately Tall Hopes aired on CBS. Back then CBS didn't have as good of a lineup of shows as ABC or NBC. Boy Meets World aired on ABC during T.G.I.F. I think this helped it out alot. The cast from BMW talked about how the show was moved to a later time slot on T.G.I.F. and since they thought no one was watching they just kind let loose and had fun and before they realized it they had an audience of viewers. Then they were moved to an earlier time slot on the T.G.I.F lineup.
Yep that's what they do for black shows
@@MissLadyG99Ahh ok that makes sense.
Nah! Tall Hopes looked like a Wannabe Combo of The Cosby Show, Family Matters & Good Times as it wasn't no outline for Boy Meets World. As it looked Hokey from the clips as them Shows I listed or any other if you go back and look at "Copy & Paste" Afro-Centric Shows as they always have to have 1 Kid a some kinda Basketball or Football Star Athlete as heck you could even say it was a Hokey version of The Hogan's Family as well if you wanna go the race card crap route!
@@SchofieldAJ like he said. It was used as the outline for boy meets world
I remember on “Good News” that there was an ongoing joke about Roz Ryan’s character being named “Hattie Mason-Dixon”, after the Mason-Dixon Line.
fun fact: mos def now goes by the name "YASIIN BEY"
😮
That's why I haven't heard anything by him
Yup…changed his name a few years ago. He's dropped 2 albums under Yasiin…and when he talked about Drake, he was addressed as Yasiin Bey, not Mos Def.
What ?!!!! 😦
Under One Roof was so underrated it also premiered on the same day 2Pac's 3rd album Me Against the World, E-40's sophomore album In a Major Way and Kut Klose's first and only album Surrender were released on March 14th 1995
That show had the most potential
@@alfonsogreen2722 i believe the Wb remade that show with white characters
It's kinda sad seeing so many of the same Black actors (Vivica, Vanessa B Calloway, Damon Wayans, etc.) having to hop around from project to project, hoping to strike gold. Luckily for them, it eventually happened, but i know it had to be discouraging. I can only imagine how many unknown Black actors gave up over time..😞
Literally, in Hollywood, they have “pilot season”-actors audition & film tv shows and hope the shows get picked up or they try again the following season. If the show does get picked up, but gets canned, there's room to audition for other shows-depending on when the cancellation occurs. There have been some actors who also auditioned for other shows while being linked to a currently airing one-and having to leave when the show gets picked up. That happened with “Mixed -ish” with Mark-Paul Gosselaar replacing Anders Holm as Bow's dad. Anders left to do “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt”.
8:30 lmao! the Parkers producers didn't even try to mess with Dorien Wilson's previous character..I bet they already had him in mind.
I mean the premise is giving spin off LOL
Scott Grimes also voices Steve Smith on the cartoon "American Dad" and is also singing as Steve
Dude can sing
@thepubknight6144 he's on the Orville as well
@@mauricehamilton4025 yup and the show "Good behavior" was remade on TBS in 2016 starring Michelle Dockery in the same role as Sherman Hemsley's character in a more serious tone
That kind of fits Dorian Wilson, though-either a college professor, a minister, or a cop.
Was Anna Maria Horsford the only black actress at that time? I had no idea she was in so many shows 😮
Vanessa Bell Calloway 😂😂😂
Couldn’t help myself
@@woodside4life I was about to type the same thing. Love them both, though!
Not just her, during Covid I randomly went down a CZcams rabbit hole of cancelled tv show intros. Jon cryer, Miguel Nunez, tk Carter, and holland Taylor seemed to be in every other one.
@@stingrey1571 lol well there were a lot of them back then.
@@woodside4life 🤣🤣🤣
I thought that was Mos def. I didn't know he was acting that early in life
He was an actor before he became a rapper
Some of these folks have good agents. They keep it moving.
So important to be tenacious! 💪🏾
“Goode behavior” had a lot of the Parker’s cast on there lol wonder if they had the same show runner
Who else ? I just see professor.
@@teetee6857 the two light skinned women were reoccurring guests on the Parker’s, as well as a couple faces I managed to catch in the short footage
I hope there's a part 4 on the way, I really like watching these episodes. There's so many shows and cartoons out there that just couldn't cut the mustard and got cancelled 🤷🏾♂️
Vanessa Bell Calloway been fine since forever. ❤ I can honestly say I don't remember any of these shows except Good News.
Same here!
Same
Miss Vanessa IS aging like a fine wine. 🍷❤
She is our queen to be after all .
@@im8555 😂😂😂
Been enjoying this series, love that I'm an 80s baby so only a few of these are unfamiliar.
this series has been dope. i didn't realize how much tv i missed out on while i was in college from 1994-2001 lol
Did you switch majors
Were you part time or something or had financial problems?
😅 got 2 degrees and was having WAY too much fun with band, Greek life and hanging out.
@@marcusgurley9495 got it
This series is one of my favorites
“Linc’s” was pretty good.
Ikr. 2 seasons. Not bad
This wasa lead way for Golden Brooks to be on a better show called girlfriends.
I agree about Linc's. A really good show
I remember Rhythm & Blues. I also remember the critics comparing it to WKRP In Cincinnati. To me it reminded me of WKRP. It had potential but just needed some slight tweaks.
Facts. It's funny how the critics were a bunch of haters just because they had a white dj working at a black radio station. It did have a WKRP vibe but unfortunately flopped because the critics & the ratings
I liked Rhythm & Blues and at the time I didn't know why the show was canceled. It is sad how the critics viewed that show.
Juicy Pop, you work hard to entertain us. I appreciate all the research you put into your videos! ❤
Thank you so much!
Top Of The Heap
Vinnie & Bobby
Cuts
Some of these I remember. Some I don’t. One thing is clear that a lot of our black actors/actresses has rotated these shows heavy!
Definitely enjoying this series. It shows how many times we’ve tried to get shows off the ground and sadly failed.
You are so right. A lot of these shows seemed like they just had the same casts of actors mixed and matched.😅😂
Under One Roof was an amazing TV show... with a very talented cast and good storylines. IDK what the people who cancelled it after only 6 episodes were thinking 🤦🏾♂🤦🏾♂🤦🏾♂
Yaaaaaas! Memory unlocked! Lol…thank you for feeding us more content. I cannot wait until you cover Oz, Soul Food, Taina, Video Soul, The Wire, The Game, Noah’s Arc, That’s So Raven, Roseanne, The Cosby Show, etc…
“ Getting personal “ was underrated
I hope you do shows from the 2000's that never took off
Rhythm and Blues sounded like a good show idea. Too bad the critcs were too hard on the show.
Great point
If they reworked it, it could probably work on a streaming service original series.
I love Nell Carter
Ok so I’m not crazy, the “Arsenio” sitcom DID exist. For some reason I always thought I made that up in my head.
Goode Behavior premiered on the same day as Malcolm & Eddie premiered
I wanna say UPN premiered four shows that same night. Malcolm & Eddie, Sparks, Good News and Goode Behavior.
Great video Can't wait for part 4!!!
Thank you Juicy Pop! I hope you have a blessed weekend 😊
the looks on their faces at 3:01 wouldve been enough for me to watch that show 😂😂😂 I LOVED Good News. watched it all the time ❤
Mos Def was and still is handsome
YES! Loved seeing him with Erykah Badu last year! ❤
Very! Terrence Howard too.
As being born in 2000’s I wish I was able to even see some if these 😞😭so I appreciate these little glimpse into the past
The thing about rhythm & blues, it is a short sighted premise. It might have worked for an 80s comedy movie or the plot for a few episodes. How were they going to drag that out for several seasons let alone one?
I enjoy this channel 📺
Thanks Juicy Pop for the video! Some of these shows, I didn’t remember back then!
I love seeing actors that got their start on these lesser known shows and went on to do big things.
Love this series
Let me tell you…
Under One Roof, Goode Behavior, Linc's, 413 Hope Street, and Getting Personal all deserved way more than they got. At the same time, most of the actors on those shows would not have had the careers they've had if not for the cancellations. Would we have gotten Ida Mae's bestie & Olivia Pope's dad if “Under One Roof” had lasted longer?
“Tall Hopes” is the one that gets me because it's so obvious that Terrence Howard is an adult on the show while playing a teenager…which is in direct contrast to him playing a college student who dated an older Maxine Shaw on “Living Single” (even though Terrence & Erika Alexander are around the same age). I give it up to Kenny Blank, though. He, Merlin Santana, and Bianca Lawson were in just about every Black show in the 90s.
The “I was rooting for you!!” In the intro 😂
I loved good news... I wasn't surprised it didn't make it... goode behavior informed me that the short lived girl band wild orchid was white 😅
Tall Hopes was definitely slept on and it had an amazing cast
Anybody remember Running The Halls with Andy McBain and Holiday?
I recently went through a 90s sitcom rabbit hole & I watched a few of these shows.
This channel is such a little Gem, so much stuff i see that I used to watch as kid that I totally forgot about lol! Makes me feel old! ❤
The second one about a radio station. This has happened for years. In Chicago there was a jazz station and this name Ron ( forgot the last name) he was mid day sound real good but he was Asian I miss him he did his thing. U only knew unless u went to station's website and there was a DJ in California sound like Barry white ppl loved him. Station try to hold back but the love was so good. Saw him. Funny enough. A Asian kid lol I am not making this up. So this idea came from somewhere
Juicy Pop, the gift that keep giving 🥳💃🏾
🥳💃🏽
I only remember Good News & Damon, but Goode Behavior & Linc's both sound very familiar. Maybe i did see them too, & just forgot about them? I had no idea that Nell Carter had been given another series, after Gimme a Break! Sad that it didn't last. Also incredibly sad, that after Amen, Sherman Hemsley couldn't seem to find another hit series!!
Good News also premiered on the same day Goldeneye 007 was released for the Nintendo 64 on August 25th 1997
I use to watch Lincs lol I was 12/13 yrs old not knowing wtf was going on 😅 but I was tuning in 😂
Thank you for doing my request. Can we please get videos on 80s tv shows that never took off featuring the following shows:
Charlie & Company
A New Kind Of Family or A Different Kind Of Family
The Robert Gullliame Show
Melba
Bustin Loose
Frank’s Place
I can't believe Rosemarie Jackson (aka rose jackson-moye) doesn't have a wiki. After dead presidents, the crew etc....
Yea. So what.
Some of these shows were really good, like "413 Hope Street". My family was hurt when it got canceled.
The fact so many of these series never got the chance they deserved is sad. Now these wholesome shows are replaced with reality bs like love and hip hop smh. Love these videos. It helps connect the dots about the bigger agenda. At the start of the 90s , the black community were still standing on business especially after Rodney King and OJ. Picking up the pieces from the 80s crack era. Slowly but surely they removed representation of US doing well for ourselves by the mid 2000s it was far and few in-between.
I actually started rewatching Good News after the Juicy Pop’s Amen video. I hate that it got cancelled early. Sparks was also good too.
Good News was ACTUALLY good. I liked David Ramsey. Rosemarie Jackson-Moye could act. She was COMPELLING in Dead Presidents. ❤
Built to Last: That had to be after Denise Dowse was no longer on “Beverly Hills, 90210”. I liked her on that show. She passed away the day after my birthday in 2022. 😢
Anna Marie smile is so pretty and her voice is very recognizable. I feel like I grew up with her cuz I've seen her on so many shows. Also Vanessa Bell calloway is incredibly beautiful
Good news was a great show. I remember my mom recorded quite a few episodes on VHS 😁
Getting personal is hilarious
You know what every one of these shows was missing?.......JACKEE
I found a few of these months ago on CZcams. The one with Terrance Howard was good, but I agree. Them chemistry was all over the place.
I remember a few of these shows. Don't recall the one with a young Terrance Howard as a baller.
There's one other show from the 90's called "Claude's Crib" that aired on USA Network that starred Claude Brooks. I still wonder what happened to him?
Good News was definitely a decent show.
The only one that's familiar to me is Good News and I could've sworn this show had at least 3 seasons. I remember watching it so much. 😮
My parents watched Getting Personal! I remember watching it with them and they would be cracking up.
Tall Hopes had potential in my opinion, I watched the pilot episode on YT a few days ago. I liked Under One Roof is a good show as well, a shame the show didn't stay on the air during that time.
Under One Roof was a good show. Very tasteful. Another suggestion is Laurel Avenue although it was a cable series on HBO. It featured the late great Mary Alice and Malinda Williams. Great video! This DEFINITELY refreshed my memory of failed shows. I thought Good News had potential. Rose Jackson was also memorable in the CLASSIC Dead Presidents. ❤
Anna Maria Horsford, Essence Atkins, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Kelly Perrine, Flex Alexander, and Merlin Santana have so many cancelled shows under their belt.
The UNDER ONE ROOF series seems very interesting. The show should be revived.
loving this series 💜I’m learning so much
I remember you take the kids..and good news..as i child i always thought good news had something to do with the amen show idk y but i did lol ..i miss these shows fr
I love this series!! Could you feature Whoopi the show? It's about Whoopi owning a hotel again but without the other lady. It was funny but it didn't last long.
Good news was a really good show I still watch it on CZcams! Oh and built to last was really good especially the theme song!!🎵
Tall Hopes was the prequel to Smart Guy minus the mom and upageing the sis 😅
I remember all of these shows, I just don’t understand why some of them didn’t make it. They were really good shows.
I’m loving this series of video’s ❤
Wow.. memories shows I forgot about.. part four plz
Good Research Awesome Videos 1,2,3
The episode with Reno Wilson on Under One Roof was great
Bianca Lawson's first tv role was on the show Saved by the Bell the new class. She played Megan in the first two seasons. Anna Maria Horsford played Vivienne Avant on the Bold and the Beautiful. She was the mother of a transgender character. Thanks for sharing.
Great video. Thank You for picking my request for Good News. I found Getting Personal online last years, and I loved it, Jon Cryer was in the MVP of the show in my opinion.
413 hope street was underrated
I love these videos!❤
Shari Headley ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Nice content
1:02 so once 🔂 again, these sitcom of the 90s.
2:03 that didn't see 🙈🙉 the light 🕯️🚨 of day.
I’ll need to check out these shows.
Goode Behavior is something I'd definitely be interested in
It had me celebrity crush and some of my favorite actors
I swear the tv industry is full of flaws
"It's Damon's show. It's not your show." I remember that intro lol.
I really liked Getting Personal. Like, I knew it wasn’t a great show but the cast was pretty appealing. I was really disappointed when it was cancelled… I think I still have the Jet magazine with Vivica, Duane and Jon Cryer on the cover! Linc’s was a pretty solid show too.
Thank you!! 😄😄
You forgot Out all night! Vivica was that 90s girl❤
Out All Night was covered in an earlier video.
Juicy Pop you made my weekend so great with part 3. Thank you so much. I got an idea for a potential part 4 how about talk shows that never took off and I got a list...
The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show
VIBE (Late night talk show with Chris Spencer and later Sinbad)
The Magic Hour
The Tempestt Bledsoe Show
Rolonda
The Richard Bey Show
The Chris Rock Show
The Jon Stewart Show
The Howard Stern Show
The Chevy Chase Show
The Whoopi Goldberg Show
The Party Machine with Nia Peeples
Motown Live (Hosted by Robert Towsoned)
The Dennis Miller Show
Night Stand with Dick Dietrick
The Charles Perez Show.
They forgot the show Thea (1993) that didn't last long, South Central (1994) with Larenz Tate, that show didn't last long either.
I believe they were in part 1 or 2. You should check them out.
Man these were some good shows, too bad they weren’t given a chance.
These r the shows I used 2 watch back then
You(U) take the kids
Rhythm & Blues
(A little bit of )Under 1 roof Goode behavior Good news & 413 Hope street
Never watched or even heard of Tall hopes
Under 1 roof had the most potential out of all of them along with Goode Behavior Good news & 413 Hope street but unfortunately failed
