    A few tips:
    1. Make sure to glue and smoothen properly, do not, I repeat do not put the fabric on the glue in one instance. Go slow and make sure you do not have any folds or wrinkles. I have a wrinkle and it ruins the whole look. Trust me, be careful as that glue will not give you any room to remove and re-install.
    2. The B pillars, between two doors, are easy to move if ya need, just pull the two panels back to form a triangle. They will unhinge and the top grey one will fall, later when reinstalling form a triangle and just put them from the vertex straight back in (make sure hinges are aligned).
    3. The lights will not turn on when the screws are taken off so.. don't worry!
    4. Make sure you clean the old headliner COMPLETELY! It is really dirty, I found a rag and your bare hands can work (for mine at least)
    5. The headliner is made of foam so be careful when getting it out of the car, also there will be wires connected with tape at the top un-tape it and you can always re-tape later (the wires are for the lights)
    6. When cutting holes for handles and stuff make sure you make the holes big enough almost as big as the whole since you need to get the screws and bolts through.
    Leave a like if this helps!

    For anyone considering doing this, do it. But only if your quote is more than $100, which most are. The quote for my suburban was $350. It cost me $50 in materials and my headliner is 10 FT, yes 10ft. I didn't do a pro job, but it looks awesome!

    Headliner material at Joannes fabric $28(2yards+1`2 inches because i also replaced my center console armrest piece. 3M Headliner glue spray can at Kragen Auto $22. FYI - handi Tech tip for taking off the old foam BS: I used a rotary spin brush for cleaning tile in my cordless drill. Tool took about 10 minutes to burnish the fiberglass headliner shell to be foam free.

    Haven't finished it yet but I used a broom, mostly, to take the old glue off the old plastic or fiberglass panel and the fabric, and then put the fabric in the washing machine on gentle cycle but had to do it twice and used Spray N Wash the second time as the glue appeared to cause some stains. It looks okay and good enough to reuse. Don't really want to spend a whole lot as this is for my mom's old car which has a number of minor dents. The hardest part was getting the dang thing out of the car's interior, LOL!

    What a great job! May I have your opinion about relatively new products, like VViViD Beige Adhesive Weatherproof Faux Leather Marine Vinyl? I think maybe it would be easier to adhere, and maybe it will stay attached better and more secure, since this type of product is also used for the outside of the car (not particular this one but similar). Thank you for the extraordinary good film on so hard work done so well.

      Michelle B. I would because of the foam backing but you probably could do fabric over the headliner so you have the backing and the style you desire. Just get 2 cans of adhesive.

    Hey is there such thing as buying the headliner material too cheap? (quality of it)
    The reason i ask is becuase i bought the material from a pep boys and i bought their other brand glue that wasn’t the 3M brand, because the foam layer on the fabric deteriorated all the way and just didn’t held up, so do the quality of the fabric and glue really make a difference? -Thanks-

    • @brianm6060
      @brianm6060  Před 5 lety

      Not sure about the fabric, but for sure the brand of glue matters and probably that is what failed for you. Make sure to get 3M as often as you can whenever picking adhesives such as tape or anything. Once you start using it you'll understand. amzn.to/2kNjaNB
