As young as the ladies are, (born 2000 & 2001) they are already pros when it comes to live performances. There is a full concert video where during the 1st song, the audio on the singer's guitar go out. She didn't skip a beat, kept strumming and singing while the stage techs scrambled to fix the problem. The sound kept going in and out throughout the song so the drums and bass carry the song. When the song ended, she handed the techs her guitar and interacted with the crowd while they worked on the issue. They are playing at Wacken for the 1st time this year 🤘😊🤘
Courageous young women who are observant in their faith tradition and rock the heck out of everything they play. Despite death threats they persist in playing rock music. God allow me please to make music is my favorite video of theirs.
We need to take inton account, they were like 16 or 17 years old while doing this video. Just 2-3 years since they learned music instruments. Still a very raw talent.
we love VOBs because we know how they are formed, with all the limitations of tools and technology. with all the social pressures that forbid women to play music. we know their struggle to become who they are today.
Did you ever think you would hear 3 girls from Indonesia playing rock. They started in 2014 doing covers from SOAD and Metallica among other bands.
I think Marsya's voice will mature over time. In Please, God, allow me (please) to play music, they have a bit af harmonies going. They also did a tour through Europe and will be in Wacken later the year.

VoB band 3 women wearing hijab from Indonesia showed a performance that no doubt made the audience mesmerized and stunned.
Good reaction David, I too found the vocals a bit abrasive but not unpleasant as say, on a Geddy Lee level, (oh boy, here comes the torch's and pitch forks). Having said that, I'm a bit saddened by you having to explain in small words your opinions so the small minded people out there will not feel you are attacking or disrespecting the band, Oy! such times we live in. People sure have long toes and thin skin compounded with closed minds these days.
But like The Warning, give them another listen as they have some superlative songs out....Mexico has the Villareal sisters, Indonesia has VOB...

Gak ada yg gigitaran plus nyanyi cuma terdengar bass n drum aja itu bukanlah band, tapi yang benar mereka sudah saling melengkapi sejak mereka mulai bermusik sejak sekolah SMP dari 16 personil dan Sekarang mereka bertiga dalam sebuah band VOB (mereka bermain musik secara otodidak bukan dari sekolah musik, bahkan awal dahulu mereka menggunakan drum rakitan dari alat drum marchingband)

what's up uncle David. very nice reaction, for details also. i don't care anything, i just want more you to react this band, because they've made rock music more colorful. they're still so young, very talented. since the beginning they didn't take any music course, they're only guided by a conselor teacher.
they play music with they real tallent with outodidact. finally, about four years later they released their first single, School Revolution.
During this pandemic, VoB was successful in their first tour, seven cities in European countries. the most popular's when they live perform at le trans musicalles de Rennes, France on December 4, 2021 attended by more than 3000 fans, incredible. because of that and another reson, they have invited to perform at w.o.a Wacken, Germany, on August in this year. actually they are in training intensely under the guidance of some of the most famous rock musicians in Indonesia. anyway, thank you very much for your support. big love from Indonesia

I'm glad they led you to "VoB", they are not my favourite band musically, I lean more towards hard-rock than metal, and I have mixed feelings about their use of the hijab, but they deserve to be recognised, they are good instrumentalists, I think they know how to compose and they haven't had it easy because of their religion, something they denounce in their most recent video.
They are, if I'm not mistaken, in the same age range as The Warning and curiously it's the bass player and the drummer who stand out most as instrumentalists. The criticism you make of the singer has been, at least for me, very clear and these are normal things, there are singers who, no matter how good they are, the tone of their voice distances us from their interpretations.

Nevertheless I searched and listened to the song you said, I think it's another good song, maybe with a lot of RATM influence (I know it's one of their favourite bands and they started covering their songs) although I think I've only listened to a couple of RATM videos on YT.
I stand by what I said, I think VoB deserve all the support, especially because the music industry is really cruel and they have never had it as "easy" as many other western bands,

It's the Indonesian version of The Warning. Well, not quite, but there are a lot of similarities. This is their first official music video, consider it their equivalent to XXI Century Blood, a nice first effort. In my view this song could have been structured a little better, it's a little too long. That breakdown jam is exceptional though. Their weakness is songwriting, mostly in terms of output. I think they have maybe a half dozen originals, maybe a few more. Hard to tell when the song names are not in English. Hopefully one of your Patreons has their more recent singles queued up for you already. You'll see the bassist doesn't pop and slap that much, as you said, only where appropriate. And I recall you chuckling over The Warning's flag over their kick drum on that first video of theirs you reviewed.
