    I think what excites me most about the recruitment now... is that we must probably be one of the most exciting projects to join right now.
    There was a time not too long ago, where I think good players weren't taking our calls and we had to sign second and third tier players.
    Right now, if you are a player looking for your next club and Arsenal are interested... your mind is made up.
    Wenger used to say that 90% of players' careers depend on where they end up... so true.

    Hi Charles, love the channel. The insights you deliver bring me closer to the club as an Irish Arsenal fan.
    I have been thinking that the recruitment success is amplified because Arteta is getting the best out of the players for the most part. I fully trust the recruitment because I trust Arteta. I know wr have a good team and its easy to contribute our success to the likes of Declan rice's performances. But Arteta is our gem. I hope fans see that.

    If we go by data, Arteta has been able to prove that we don't need an out and out #9. We have scored more goals than City this season and wasn't to far off last season. Arteta has built a system that produces goals (shared). So yeah, I would recommend we sell Eddie, keep everyone in the attack, sell Elneny, Lokonga, and ESR. Buy a hybrid Midfielder who can DM and 8 (bruno G) We will win the league next season. We may still win it this season

    David Raya is an upgrade on Ramsdale in the same way Ramsdale was an upgrade on Leno, but tbh he’s a little below my expectations for him this season and I’m yet to be convinced he is the required top tier GK on the world stage, but we shall see. I’ve never doubted Mikel’s decisions for Raya over Ramsdale though, and there is little doubt that Arsenal will make his move permanent. I’m not so concerned ability-wise, it is just a little about what is between the ears in terms of being fully authoritative and commanding, but over time there is still lots of room for Raya to grow.

  • @onenation9510
    @onenation9510 Před 21 dnem +6

    I'm really happy with the Arsenal recruitment. It was a risk with David Raya that could have affected team morale despite him being better than Ramsdale with his feet and concentration. Fortunately, it worked out! In terms of Kai Havertz I wasn't happy when he signed from Chelsea but he's proved me wrong! He's a handful for opposing teams, this hight, understanding of space and skill level is exceptional ( a Germany Alan Smith!). I think he can score more goals but his link up play is great. Trossard is an amazing finisher and versatile player on both feet (great value for money!). Rice is majestic and has certainly improved Arsenal's defensive and leadership qualities. It's unfortunate Thomas Party hasn't been fitter for longer periods because this would have freed Rice to dominate more in the last third and potentially score more goals! Timber is a great player and will certainly improve the Arsenal defence next season. Arsenal need to buy quality cover for Saka, a replacement for Party (if he leaves), and a goal scoring player that can create something out of nothing when games are tight defensively. I would keep Vieira and Smith-Rowe, and sell Elneny, Nketiah, Ramsdale, Partey, Nelson, and Zinchenko.

    I’ve noticed Kai making these cheeky little flick on passes and turns the past few games that has got me seeing a totally different side of him. He’s playing with so much confidence. Even his post match interviews he seems like he’s more proactively engaging the pundits. It’s really nice to see him feel a sense of belonging

  • @Steve-uf8pk
    @Steve-uf8pk Před 21 dnem +1

    Yeah you will never get all transfers right, but recently under Edu/Arteta I think they’ve done brilliantly! Really looking forward to seeing Timber again, was such a pity what happened in game one for him. Havertz looks happy and settled now and I think he’ll just get even better. I’m not worried about Martinelli, form is temporary, class is permanent!
    I think we have to keep Jesus after watching him singing North London forever with all his might on the bench😁

  • @johncooney4681
    @johncooney4681 Před 21 dnem +1

    Raya has been a brilliant signing. I was at David Seaman's debut and you could feel the disappointment that John Lukic had been let go. Seaman went on to have a superb season and was one of the main reasons Arsenal won the league. Like Ramsdale it felt Lukic was hard done. Havertz divided opinion but what a brilliant decision by the club. Timber unlucky but Declan Rice at 105m has been an absolute bargain.

    Hi Charles! From Johnny. It was a wonderful weekend, shame didn’t see get to say hello to you at the Tollington post-match. Somehow the more United get battered the more worried I am for Sunday, they certainly will put in more shift than they did today, and they just had the weird random luck against good teams after a battering by a mid-table team (like against Liverpool for 3 times this season). Genuinely worried as if we don’t win the title will be handed over to City before the final day.

  • @magoo9066

    As frustrating as it is that we are likely to miss out on the league, the team and Arteta deserve massive plaudits. We have had a real transitional period with the likes of Ramsedale, Zinchenko, Partey, Xhaxa and Jesus who were all massive in last seasons transformation playing alot less of a role (or no part for Xhaxa) and we could still end up with 89 points having scored the most goals and concedeing the least. Liverpool were fantastic for so many years under Klopp and only managed 1 league title and even lost it one year with 97 points. The levels needed are absolutely insane now but I have full confidence that we are still on an upward trajectory and well positioned to be competitng and lifting titles in the years ahead.

    I liked the comment that either or both Jorginho and Partey could effectively be the squad replacement for Elneny next season, which in itself would constitute an upgrade and is very much in line with my own view.
    Guarantee the Ghanaian having an injury free season and any summer midfield recruit is gonna spend the majority of their first season primarily being patient and bedding in. The prospect of that being Amadou Onana and the potential on offer from him then being paired with Rice or Jorginho or Partey, the man he would ultimately be a direct replacement for, is rather mouth watering.
    Unlike our peri peri neighbours, Arteta has already proven he's not adverse to utilising different formations and tactical approach. With this in mind I hope a double swoop on Sporting CP comes to fruition in relieving them of both Diomande and Gyokeres.

    Hi Charles, Arteta has managed to challenge for the title with only one centre back on the bench, and at times with none when Kiwior is playing left back; Do you think this is a position we need to strengthen in the summer. What if #2 or #6 gets injured, can we rely on Timber who is just returning from treatment? Are we still linked with or interested in De Ligt?

    On topic of new CM wonder your opinion on keeping Jorginho and Partey with hope to give prospect Lewis Skelly some game time and be ready to fully be integrated following season.
    Arsenal need to be careful as you outlined and this might open up to spend big on an versatile attacker - Isak, Zirkzee who seems to be able to play centrally and wide! We need to top up our front three as at times we are not clinically enough for the big prices...

    Afternoon Charles, amazing positive gunners content. Proud to be a goooonner as we all should be. Flexibility gives Arsenal more strength in depth than any other team in Premership. Also AGE is on our side as City & Liverpool have players coming to end contracts plus in their 30's. Future is Red, praying that we can pick up trophy this year but rest assured its coming to us in the years' to come. I would like to see ISAK & Olise as two improvements to our quality flexible squads plus Timber will be like a new signing. Selling Eddie, Ramsdale, Taveres and Tierney should put 100m into Edu's pocket. Think EDU deserve's more credit as all latest transfers have been a success and majority are worth more then what we paid for them so business model is 10/10. Business and pleasure of football has future proofed the next 10 years. His next purchase should be bigger trophy cabinet ........come on you gooooners!!

    Hi Charles. Love your channel and content, great work!
    I would like to know what you think these options:
    Striker: Mateta- seems strong and dynamic and would offer us something different from what we have in our squad.
    Winger: Olise- If we manage his minutes well he could stay fit and offer us what Mahrez did at City.
    Midfield: Amadou Onana seems a perfect considering his work rate and physicality
    Full Back: Aït-Nouri seems to be a good replacement for Zinni, but I wouldn’t mind us just keeping what we have at the moment.
    Would cost us around a £180-200 Mil , but players who are premier league ready and offer solid depth.
    What are your thoughts?

    Hi Charles. It seems to me that in addition to signing a new #6 in the summer, we already have a midfield solution in the squad that no one talks about: Zinchenko. He could be an ideal backup at Left 8 if we give him the summer training camp to acclimate to it. We have plenty of left back talent in Timber, good backup, and we might sign another as well. Time to decisively move Zinchenko from LB to MF. What do you think?

    Perhaps buying Haverts was always a win win because they knew that he could play the false 9 if it didn't work out in midfield. He can definitely fill a space in the 8 but I am glad that Arteta was willing to adapt and move him into the 9. And to be fair it has meant Rice's role has changed too as he has gone into the 8 role which I think he is better suited for.

    Man it’s tough for edu recruiting this summer. I think we go for Bruno G or Frenkie cause they can both play the 6/8. We have an option in lokanga if we want to save and go bigger elsewhere. Havertz and Timber make it tricky as well, Rodrygo is clear for that right sided forward that can play ST/LW if needed but i imagine jesus has to go for that to happen. I feel for Nwaneri if we buy a RW. Defense idek cause Timber and Tomi can jump in anywhere, Kiwi we can trust to cover Gabriel or Zinny, White can always slide back into the RCB if saliba goes down. Lots of great headaches to have.

    Also, in case better replacements could be bought, will need to add Jesus and Zinchenko to the list above.
    However, pure profits will be had from moving on Eddie, Nelson and above all ESR.
    Hope to keep Partey. Even better if he'd retire from international football...

    Whilst true that Arsenal have enhanced/improved the Squad with new signings.I believe it is equally the case, that the Players themselves, have generally benefited, by joining the Arsenal.A two way street then.In this context, I have found it interesting that whilst Arsenal supposedly lost out to other Teams, with regard to the signing of certain Players.They have moved on quickly to make other signings,these often proving to be of significant benefit to the squad.Whilst costing much less money.Hence my earlier comment re Arsenal benefitting the incoming Players.the Current Team Spirit has much to do with this I suspect.As too does the Leadership shown at the Club.Something of this order is very difficult to achieve in such a competitive and cut throat business. And it needs to be appreciated for what it is.

Most likely very unlikely, but the thought of Nunez up front for Arteta is quite appealing in my humble opinion.

    People need to stop with the matter of selling Partey, he's untouchable !!! Can't they see that our midfield is much better with him ??? Partey just need to stay fit and it's also down to Mikel to manage his minutes. All we need to do now is to look for someone with a similar profile to fill the hole when Partey's unfit. That profile is a number 6 with physicalities, good with the ball and good distribution. Having PL experience is preferred but optional. Rice can fill in but if he fills in for Partey then we have to look for another left 8.

I’m hoping we move on ESR, Nelson, Nketiah, Elneny, Cedric, Ramsdale,Zinchenko, and Viera. While they can still play bit parts I can’t see them playing major roles. This is why Arteta doesn’t use them much as subs and sticks to his preferred 14. Sell them and buy 3-4 top class players who can compete in the first team. That’ll give him 17-18 top quality interchangeable players Our second string is too far behind the first team to make a difference

How Raya Havertz was the only player who "pulled Arsenal back, and how Arteta was trying hard to assimilate him into the squad to justify his price," and how Raya was only there to "cause chaos because you can't have 2 number 1s?" I remember how the pundits could not stop talking about the 2, especially ESPN. It was horrible. I remember when they used to even put the spotlight on Ramsdale every time Raya made a mistake. My concern which is a serious one is raya does make daft mistakes what happens when he hits a bad patch? Dumped like ramsdale? And then we have Havertz who’s been far better than I expected yet the clubs after a striker so is Kai going to a left 8 position again which is terrible as it doesn’t work? Or is he benched? So both have worked out for this season but long term I’m guessing both are on borrowed time.

    Presuming Arsenal win their last two matches . . . Not giving up entirely on Spurs potentially taking points from City. Aston Villa plays Liverpool this weekend, Spurs play Burnley. Not inconceivable they are 4 points behind AV going into the game against City. If they "were then to win" they'd be a point back of AV going into the final week. I'm just reaching that they will have something meaningful to play for against City. And I guess an overall Europe spot may be significant as well. I think it's either Fuham or Spurs, don't see any chance of West Ham doing anything. When it's all said and done it's likely that Arteta was spot on when a little while back he said he thought Arsenal would need (I believe) 92 points.

    Burnley can get a draw against City if they want it. Spuds can and will likely NEED to beat City to ensure their Europa League place so that could end up as a draw too, City have a very bad record playing away to Spurs. Fulham could try a low block to get a point. Any of those would mean the title being decided on goal difference. Paul Merson recently said something that was poignant about transfers that I've been saying for the longest time. Arsenal fans shouldn't expect a spending spree this summer. Arteta now largely has his preferred starting 11 and we have one of the deepest benches of any big club. It would be hard to go to a player as a scout and tell a potential player that they are wanted y Arsenal. Their first question would be "Where will I play and how often?"
    At this point there are very few, if any positions that a player can be convinced they are coming to take from a current player. Which fullback would believe they are coming to play ahead of Gabby and Saliba? Or RB playing ahead of White etc. That's why there won't be too much recruitment because we have quality on our bench and which players would be better than who we have on the bench now but not quite starter level?

      @@abdullahibnmiah2986 There is Timber, Tomi, Zina, Kiwior, who can all play LB so it's not up for grabs. Plus there is Tavares who is technically still an Arsenal player. He is probably leaving but I mention him to say Arteta won't get 1 guy for that position then sell 2 or 3. Zina might not be a fan favourite but Arteta likes him. Availability isn't going to be about fans opinions on who players as a starter. LW has Martinelli and Trossard. If we get a LW then Martinelli will probably want to leave. Even Trossard wouldn't want to be benched most of the time. no.9 is one of those positions that are not rotated. Only injuries change personnel in that position. A risky consideration, Bennacer, Milan's ex Arsenal youth player. Prior to serious injury he was probably in the world top 10 at DM. Offers are reported to be welcomed, so for less than €40M it could be an amazing gamble. He could only be worth half that, but he could also be worth double.
