    Is Salad Broken Calculating

It's competition based system, supply and demand. The more people jump in to Salad, the less there is jobs for each of them. Their amount of jobs might be going up, but if the Salad miners amounts are going bigger faster, well, the slimmer the profits will be -> you are ending up to compete each other, sell your valuable computer time cheaper and cheaper, until people drop out from that competition.

I remember as soon as I started Salad chopping. It picked up a $5 job instantly. Now sometimes it takes 10 whole hours to get a job that goes away in an hour or two. My PC uses 90 watts on freaking idle

I did have 1 rig that I left just calculating for about 7 days and it got 0 jobs, finally restarted the PC, started salad and immediately got a job and have had off an on jobs every day since. As long as rigs are getting some sort of jobs on occasion for sure leave them on. If it's getting literally nothing for days on end I would say to try a restart. Its a 4060ti rig and my other 4060ti rig (as well as 2 other rigs) were getting jobs that whole time so it seemed like something was up with the rig itself even though all looked well.

I got 20 rigs on Salad switched over from Vast. I don’t know if it’s just bro science but it looks like location can play a part in getting the jobs on salad. I setup my rigs initially with location services turned off on windows. I turned everything back on yesterday and 18 rigs are rented today🎉. Not sure if it’s luck. I’m just testing the water so I have a mix of everything (4090, 4070ti Super, 3070ti,3070, 3060 12g). All rigs have 64 or 128 of ram. Looks like the lower end GPUs with lots of ram are selling faster.

05:20 love how your voice cracked when you said “nerd” 😂. I’m still on Salad, but I might be pulling the plug on machines with little profit. Bc what am I gaining by burning electricity? Nothing.

I have 2 rtx 3060 rigs, 1 was calculating for 5 days straight but made about $12 bucks while "calculating". The other made about 1.25 per day chopping....Each was on a different login which I have since combined into 1 account.

Brandon, get something like I use for your modem. I use a Bluetti EB3A power station. It will run my cable modem for almost 7 hours. If you still have solar panels you can hook those into it assuming they are under 30v.

Unfortunately this isn't crypto where the payoff is in the future and so I kill any container paying less than $3.50/day. My power costs mean I'm still losing money unless it's over $5/day but for me there have been a lot of $3.50+ jobs available so I tend to let them run and take a small hit now and again. Cycling through these low paying jobs has landed me higher paying ones with minimal idle time. On average, I land a $6+/day job every few days when cycling through the lower paying ones.

I "assume" that everyone who earns money on SALAD also pay taxes on their earnings(lol). In the USA, IRS expects their cut after $600 or so (PYPL/VISA/AMZN etc. are required to report at the end of the year).

Hey Brandon. I agree Salad is all over the place here lately. I have UPS's on everything and with good hardware and still get lots of calculating and low paying containers. It's getting super frustrating 5 rigs and barely covering power here lately. What other platform are you testing? I was wanting to investigate other options as well. Was wondering about any insights you could provide.

I'd love to have a script that disable/close crypto-miner clients when Salad gets a job, and re-enable them when Salad is idle.
Also, since Salad barely use any CPU, is it ok to run a CPU-miner at lets say 80%? Or does Salad do a system check to see if X% resources are in use, so no jobs for you buddy(?)

I have some PCs that show Calculating but they are on jobs and earning money while others are calculating and just idle. Also, what is the difference between a machine that shows Chop Now vs Chop Indefinitely? Is that a state that is good or no? Also, is there any benefit to enabling Crypto mining thru Salad? Does that make you any more likely to get a container job? Thanks

@@djchotus1 I'm not so concerned about the profits, only how Salad treats users. Do they favor folks who have crypto enabled or do they not weigh that in their decisions as far as who gets container jobs. If we don't know, so be it but if anyone does know I'd be curious to hear about it.
