    Thanks for your video! Do you mind sharing what you did on the double j channel (after the 10 feet)? Did u drill holes for water to drain? How did you fix that so water doesn’t sit in the channels? Thanks a lot

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před rokem +2

      The gable with the double J takes on very little water. So far it has drained out the ends and at the joint. If I had a longer span and a steeper pitch roof, I'd probably drill a few drain holes to be safe. However, I would do it toward the front of the channel and at a flat spot on the siding (not hidden behind the high rib). The hole would show a little from below, but that would be better that water running behind the lower siding. Thanks for watching!

    You mention that the sidings are only 10ft long but could they be installed overlaping vertically ? (like metal roof sheets) thanks alot!

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Not really. They don't have factory notches for overlapping like horizontal siding, and the batten part won't overlap nicely. I tried cutting notches, but it doesn't look good at all IMO. Thanks for watching.

    • @AntoniPaquet
      @AntoniPaquet Před 2 lety +1

      Ok got you. And what if it was horizontal clapboards installed vertically? Do you think it would be possible? I love vertical sidings but hate the fact that it is not visually seamless. Thanks for your answer!

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, that can be done, but you would need to run your top pieces over the bottom ones to shed water. That will make the joints visible from the ground.

    • @AntoniPaquet
      @AntoniPaquet Před 2 lety +1

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před rokem

      No issues with mine. It’s been on for a while now. This siding has to be able to expand and contract freely.

    on your horizontal break how do you keep water from getting in

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před 6 měsíci

      Very little rain hits those gables, but the upper j-channel works like a little gutter. If it was a large exposed gable, a piece of z flashing for some extra protection would be good.

  • @nikolasvel
    @nikolasvel Před 2 lety +1

    How far apart did you space your top and bottom J channels for the full size 10 ft long boards? Did you account for an extra inch or so for expansion and contraction of the vinyl boards? Thank you in advance.

    • @LiveMoreOutdoors
      @LiveMoreOutdoors  Před 2 lety +1

      I don’t remember what the exact measurement was, but I did add about 3/4” to allow for some expansion. I believe the full pieces were about 120.5”Thanks for watching.
