Omg thank you. This is this the most comprehensive video to help with second position. I have been looking for good shifting videos
Wonderful video breaking down mechanics of shifting and keeping same finger patterns. Makes total sense. Thank you!
Stephanie Hughes thank you lovely! Hope alls well with you❤️

I love your lessons, everything is explained so well! And you are charming person!
Thank you very much, you're amazing.
You’re so sweet teacher, thank you😊
Ali Rıza KALENDER thank you!
Thanks so much. I've been trying to master viola 3rd position and its intimidating to introduce a second. Great starting point.
If her fingers weren't too vertical she would have no problem keeping 2 + 3 down together in second position. Ruggiero Ricci advocated playing on the pads of the fingers rather than the tips. He also warned about the dangers of "playing the trombone" - in other words the whole-arm shifting demonstrated here. I used to play like this but Ricci's approach is much more ergonomic - I wish I'd discovered it much sooner.
Good point!!
How does he advocate shifting? Can you include a link for an example if possible. Thank you
Fantastic Teaching !!!!
Shifting with hand, not with fingers that was new to me. Thanks
I carry my tuner as well 😅😎😍
Super 💓❤️❤️
This helped me correct myself thank you
So glad!!
Thank you so much coach! This is sooo helpful! My finger sores though! 😂😂
Which country are you from?
Awesome! Thank you so much!
Yah great
Can you give some exercises for the 2nd position please amber.thanks.
could you please do a 5th position video for violin. thank u😘
How I wish my fingers were that long! I should be on a smaller size but they sound so tinny 😢
I have a very short pinky. Struggle a lot with the 4th finger.
Why don't you do role in titanic movie.....you are much better then the lead actress ❤
I was playing along I thought it was a violin then I realized it was a viola 😂
We do that in each string?
Mersi🌷👍
Which finger is the best ?
How do I know wich position I have to use when I play?
In orchester scores there is no fingerings. They mostly play the system they learned in the Etudes of Kreutzer.
Many thanks
Why 441 but not 440Hz?
李立峰 it’s considered to be standard tuning for orchestras...although the pitch is continuing to rise :) some orchestras tune to 445
My understanding is that here in UK orchestras tune to 442. Is the case with piano concertos, at any rate. Amazingly, such a small difference does make a difference to the perceived sound: it's brighter somehow. If you have a tuner compare, A440 to A442: I think you'll appreciate that there is a difference!
mechanical didgeridoo Why isn’t the ideal pitch determined by the dimensions of the sound box? Doesn’t the box itself resonate better at a particular tuning?
Very sweet and helpful.
What is a half step
Shaunak Chittimalla a semitone, so if you played the open A string, the first finger in first position would produce a B flat which would be a half step. Hope that makes sense!
you ought to run the scale of the position 2 octave ,as for me it s an incomplete lesson
Are you an angel? I like you..
İ dont know why when you speak i feel my gf is speaking with me
yeah umm... half of us don't even play violin
Jamhead Math-dude its a viola.
Ilove you😍😍
Do you even realize how cute you are?
Mycket bra
WHY !? - do you keep using that horrible camera angle. We can NOT see your hands on the fingerboard. The camera needs to be ABOVE the violin, (or at least level with) and looking DOWN. That way you need only to lower the fingerboard slightly for viewers to clearly see what you are doing with your left hand.
too long ,,,boring
