    The therapist is saying a lot of I statements such as “I like the way you are...” instead of “” You are sitting really still while you are figuring it out”. It becomes about pleasing the father when using I statements.

    We were shown this video in class and all I kept thinking is why don’t all parents get coaching!?! I sure could have used this as a parent 😂

      I think he’s just avoiding answering questions in general, so that she is required to problem solve on her own, and then he can praise her for solving the problem!

      Yeah, this was pretty weird phraseology. I think she's praising his use of "wondering" so as to not interrogate. As in, "I wonder where we'll find a chair" instead of "Where's another chair you stupid kid?"
