Witness the power, dedication, and skill of Olympic athletes as they compete for their chance to shine on the world stage.
Break. Climb. Skate. Ride. The Olympic Qualifier Series is the ultimate stage for Paris. The two-part festival-style series will make its first stop in Shanghai on 16-19 May. The final leap for athletes to secure a spot in an Olympic Games. The results here will help determine which athletes qualify for Paris 2024 in breaking, BMX freestyle, skateboarding, and sport climbing. The Shanghai event will be a celebration of sport and culture, with music, fashion and art combining with the sporting competition to create a festival experience. It's a chance for fans and athletes alike to go watch and try different sports, experience epic moments together and meet a lot new people.
The Olympic Qualifier Series serves as the ultimate qualification stage on the road to Paris 2024 for BMX freestyle, breaking, skateboarding and sport climbing. In total, over 150 quota places for Paris 2024 will be allocated following the Series in accordance with the relevant qualification systems.
The Olympic Qualifier Series employs a points system designed to determine which athletes will secure quota places for Olympic Games Paris 2024. The International Federations are responsible for determining the rules related to the points system of their respective sports.
Athletes in BMX freestyle, sport climbing, and breaking will compete for a maximum of 50 points at each of the events in Shanghai and Budapest, making a maximum possible total of 100 points per athlete. Points from both stops will be compiled into a ranking for each of the sports, that will determine which athletes earn quota places for Paris 2024.
For skateboarding, the points system is divided into three parts: results from prior competitions and the results from the Shanghai and Budapest Olympic Qualifier Series events respectively. One-third of the points are allocated from past competitions, while the remaining two-thirds will be up for grabs in Shanghai and Budapest. The combined points from all competitions will give the final ranking. - Sport

Dear Olympics, you've been promoting this for 2 weeks on CZcams, so far you've uploaded a few poorly edited highlight reels and this semi-finals video, that was never broadcast live, which awkwardly starts near the end of the first heat in the MIDDLE of someone's run! Couldn't do it live for some reason but also SOMEONE CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER TO HIT RECORD! How does that, in any way, reflect your organization is run with any amount of competence?
You need to remember you need skateboarding more than skateboarding needs you, and if this is how you're treating it the Olympics frankly don't deserve skateboarding.

The presentation of this has actually got me appreciating street league's presentation. These announcers are just not the best, you can't really hear the sound of the skaters on the course which detracts from the vibe, and whyyy on earth are they playing 70s TV show themes over the PA lol?
Please get skaters to narrate these Olympic companies.

Same issue, looked for it live while it was supposed to be streaming to no avail only to find the only version of it available is this poorly produced upload that starts halfway through a competition. Something tells me they wouldn't upload a video of an Olympic qualifying race of any sort that started in the middle of the race. Treating skateboarding as a second class sport, typical Olympics.

They screwed sora, I wld even argue that it also messed him up in the trick section cause then he had to try super crazy hard tricks to try n make up, even tho he got a full run in!
Luckily that was one of only a few scores I felt were off scale! The scale was a lil low and even lower in the finals but they stayed close to consistent per round IMO, it has been a few weeks since I watched it tho.

@@kevindenley9292 that was flipping crazy. a 78 for a perfect KF front nose on the tall ledge is criminally low, but they give vianna a 93 for a trick he does at every comp. Dont get me wrong, its an insane trick, but i think they're being too generous with the scoring on that one.

Toa’s nollie Barley grind 180 out was underscored by at least 10 points. It was one of the hardest tricks of the comp.

Will the rest of the qualifiers make it to CZcams? I regrettably downloaded the Olympics a so I could see the finals which happened on the 19 but don’t see them anywhere obvious on the app. Too bad, CZcams channels are a super easy and logical way to organize livestreams, and the demographic you are attempting to reach is already here!

There is no set system of judging in skateboarding, so it’s all opinion, and it shows in the inconsistency and downright stupid calls.

I personally feel that the judges consistently underscore Ginwoo. He is doing extremely difficult tricks that non of the other athletes are doing. He deserves and has earned to be scored higher.

I wanna see more flip tricks in the finals, I get they gotta play it somewhat safe but judges should reward any flip tricks with a bit of a curve or just give them more points because especially on rails because they are is so much room for error, just a kick flip to 50-50 or something should rank higher than say like an easy lip to switch or something that seems harder but is really about the same, the flip is just more error prone and technicality in skating should get big points because of the risk.

That’s why people are upset. It’s an honor to have that job. They should be paying someone who has better knowledge of skateboarding and more entertaining. hobos 2nd run was hugely over scored.. he does the exact same tricks in every contest ..kickflip nose, kickflip crook, kickflip board, kickflip blunt. an occasional poorly wrapped impossible. we get it you can kickflip. this dude never does switch, fakie or nollie or anything new and interesting and his style isnt even that great.. if he wasnt consistently over scored he would never be here.

These announcers are the worst educated about skateboarding that I've ever heard. Their commentary is stale and they have no chemistry.
One isn't bad, the other is awful saying names wrong etc and clearly knows nothing. I think if we had the one guy and pastras or someone decent, it would be much better.
Please start docking points for celebrating after landing a trick, it's really cheapening the skating.
