    Some guests at my museum were raving about a resort town in Western ND, and i was very confused, as i grew up on the border and never heard of a resort in the area. Turns out they meant Medora! It warms my heart that so many people are going to these remote places & seeing that the prairie can be amazing. When i tell ppl that E MT & W ND have many places where you can see the full 360° of the horizon, many of them get incredibly excited.

    I, too, had never heard of this NP until I was planning my 2019 trip to South Dakota. I searched the map to see if there was anything interesting in ND. I am so glad I made the trip to TRNP. I loved it. The scenery, wildlife and solitude was worth the effort. Once I read about the Cannonball Concretions I knew I had to visit this strange place. Go west young man, go west, and a bit north.

    Going home to Sentinel Butte in May from San Diego. SB is about 14 miles west of Medora so I have spent many many days in Medora and TRNP. My great Grandfather and now family has the horse/cattle ranch just west of the Elkhorn ranch so would say you need many, many days to see all the sights.

My favorite places in Yellowstone are: Lamar Valley and Grand Canion of Yellowstone. I used your tips and recomendation in Yellostone. Big thanx. The next year, I am planning to go to Alaska to see Kenai and Denali National Parks.

      No shade to either of you, but the amount of serious and permanent damage to our precious treasures, damage which affects the locals' incomes, is horrifying. I would think you'd be more upset at the a-holes hellbent on destroying YNP for views.

    • @airstreamer
      @airstreamer Před rokem

      @@montananerd8244 yes, I agree. Go after the “a-holes” for vandalism, littering, etc. But this mostly will affect those of us who produce videos that promote and speak positively about our National Parks and what a treasure they are, and how they need to be preserved and protected. In all seriousness, this has changed our travel plans and we now travel to state or private parks and feature small town Americana: restaurants, quaint places, and family-friendly getaways.

    You could easily argue horses ARE native to North America, they evolved here spread to Asia and Europe via the Bering land Bridge then became extinct here in North America likely in part from the humans who were new to North America and over hunted them. Wild horse here now should be considered a re-introduction of a native species.

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  Před 2 lety

    • @WereintheRockies
      @WereintheRockies  Před 2 lety

      Good question. I think I only use national park maps or google maps. National park maps are public domain from my understanding. Google maps - I’m not aware of restrictions, but I’m not certain on that.
      There’s always a fair use argument as well, which is a massive gray area.

    • @PaulbylPaulbyl
      @PaulbylPaulbyl Před 2 lety

      Any maps published/printed by the US government are public domain (because our taxpayer money paid for the maps). Google of course is a different story.
