First time I ever seen one actually take there time and being cautious moving it and loading it!!
Would have liked to see them duct tape some foam, rubber, or towels to the forks to minimize scratching, but yeah he did a nice job with it.

When picking vehicles up from the side with a forklift, you can use wood blocks like 2x4 or 4x4 to keep from damaging anything from underneath like the exhaust or driveshaft. Takes about 4 pieces of wood depending. I know because I do this regularly due to my job in import/export loading and unloading vehicles from racks.
Picking it up from the front like that, you can use 2" ratchet straps to hold onto the bumper or frame or some other point to the forks and that would have allowed you to pick up the whole truck, without it tilting back like that.

I guarantee that the frame is bent. Good news is those frames are all cold steel which means it can be massaged back into place without compromising it's strength. Pull slow, add heat to help it move and measure over and over. I would love to be playing with this rig!! I remember when Richard went to sell it, the battery went dead and they were having issues starting it to get it across the block.

@@fr_clan.official8938 According to the show, the new owner had brought the truck to GMG to get some minor cosmetic damage fixed. So when they wrecked it their insurance had to pay for it. I'm just wondering why they needed to test drive it on a freeway in the first place. Since the original damage had nothing to do with driveline or suspension you wouldn't think a test drive would have been necessary. As far as this truck being in the background shots, I'll take your word for it. I hadn't noticed.
Man Mountain Link actually I’m pretty sure it had a bad rear diff if I recall? The new season has the whole incident in an episode. I just can’t remember why it was out for a drive but rear diff is ringing a bell

Frames can be fixed lol even if you cant put new rails you can weld in a half frame

Probably was aired up when they dropped it and leaked over time. It's not hard to move vehicles without damaging them if you take your time doing it.

You couldn't put the truck in neutral to move it with front end up? Did you check the glove box for the radio?
@Dave Micolichek so strap it to the fork lift. 20 yrs in towing it could have easily been done.
@Dave Micolichek he was moving it 10 feet not 10 miles could have easily been done. But to each their own he got it done on the dollies.

Many of us would just use a 2 ton jack under the front cross member and rolled the truck!
Buy a new C10
Transfer everything over to a fresh shell
Id pull the old frame, cut off behind the damage and graft in a new front section. Looks like the rear of the frame has extensive mods you may not want to redo. I be the front does too, but have to remake it anyways.
lol i do kind of agree. may need to build a chassis for it. but starting over with a new cab for sure would save a lot of time. as well as starting with fresh front fenders.

If it was me, I'd be swapping that frame out and buying a new front clip. Not a huge deal, depending on how much was invested off the hop.

i got mine 4 for a buck marked down last Friday from local Wal Mart
...because those wreck resellers are looking to unload there inventory,not worry about scratching paint on ANY VEHICLE.

How is a 1976 c10 rare you can build one completely from scratch
It's not the base truck, it's the fact that it was built by Gas Monkey Garage. To build that one again, from scratch, you're probably talking hundreds of thousands of dollars due to all the man hours that went into it...
May not be a rare find, But that c10 is a very "ICONIC" truck being that it is from Gas Monkey!

There are a lot of people out there who would be prepared to pay a lot for a vehicle originally built by Gas Monkey Garage, even if it has been rebuilt after having damage. Think about what some of the vehicles made by people like Barras and the like are worth now. It may not be your cup of tea or coffee, but that doesn't mean there aren't a lot of people who disagree with you and would pay handsomely to prove it...

dude thats awesome you got your hands on this truck, if i personally recall it was a semi the cut one of the monkeys off when they were test driving the truck after fixing damage from the current owner.
My first car in the early eighties was a 66 Chevelle. I was 15-16 bought it off some college chick for $100.00.A drunk driver took the driver side front end out. Froze my ass off in garage disassembling it (I had big plans, but no money) I then asked my stepfather who is probably the smartest person I know if the crushed in frame horn could be repaired he looked at me in disbelief and shook his head "no"., Crushed I called the junk yard the next day to come pick it up and tapped (no not in that way) my Oma for money to buy a much better 67. Seeing this truck reminded me of that time. Good luck with the project as you probably have alot more knowledge and resources then I did then!
Truck is done take all the good components and put them on a solid c10
frame, front clip, cab, are scrap find another 76 and transfer the parts

The crack in the plaster on the back of the cab is not going to be an easy fix that double wall structure in that area, you might be able to tweak the frame but the amount of hours it would take to fix those 2 items you could get a donor and have perfectly straight in far less time besides 73-80 iirc chevy/ gmc trucks are still around. And fairly easy to come by.
Agreed. That truck is done. It's a '76 square body, nothing special, and still plentiful. These people think they're going to cash in on the Gas Monkey build. They did nothing but hang parts on it. Anybody can do that. You can buy trucks built like that for under 20 grand in my area.

Not a customization or a restoration.
What grabbed my ass is this kid buying this truck and using somebody else's works as a promo and people calling it a build.
It's a repairable a restoration of sorts.
A Build is starting with an unmolested vehicle not something that has already RECENTLY been built.
Go look at the links I posted and watch it done right the way GAS FLUNKY should have done.
Maybe this time it might get a proper chassis.

custom frame, the bed and the cab is racked, motor is good andhope tranny same

Frame machine and a torch will be like new.

The frame probably isn't as bad as the bodywork makes it look. If the frame was fabricated well when it was built then it should be possible to straighten it, IF the original frame details from when it was built are available. Most of the rest of it is going to be pretty simple, though replicating the original fabrication work that went into building it could be tricky. It shouldn't be too hard a project as long as the frame isn't totally wrecked...
