Are same-sex couples common in Lithuania? Is it s big deal over there? It seems non-typical to me. Which is why I like it. Could it be a sign that they are more progressive? Both the song and the video are adorable. You jest get this positive sunny warm feeling by it.
Lithuania has on many occasions and by people living there characterized as one of the most homophobic countries in the European Union (if not the most homophobic) and definately the most homophobic from the Baltic nations, so no, same sex couples openly showing affection is not something common there for sure, and that's why this clip is really surprising and bold. Of course perceptions are very slowly changing but these changes are still at a very early stage and homophobia is rampant. Lets hope that this bold move from the artists and the state broadcaster helps towards that direction !
