The school used to be called Charlemont Secondary Modern school.I left that school in 1965 to enter my working life.

Pennyhill Primary was Charlemont Primary School. Hollyhedge Primary backed onto it and was located in Connor Road. Before they were primary schools it was one big secondary school - back in the 60s. I went to Charlemont infants and juniors when I was little. Mrs. White was the head mistress of the infants, and Mr. Phillips was headmaster of the juniors. This was in the late 70s early 80s. They must be long gone now ...after them it was Mr. Wallington for years.

@@awalkwithphil yeah nice, and charlemont and bustleholme lane definitely the 'posh end' of Bromwich as we grew up in a council house with mom the traditional HouseMom and Dad working all hours 2 jobs to pay for rent, food, bills, clothing etc etc etc, but we as kids where raised disciplined ' he was ex British Army ' but we were ohh so happy and respectful ESPECIALLY towards the Elderly and Women, and now as their kids we're all independent and respectful...I'm nearly 60 now and these core values what me and my wife have installed into our children... Life's A Journey indeed, and passes you by so quick...Thanks again 🙏 BoingBoingBaggies:-)

I was in the Jinglers yesterday lunch time. Being a bank holiday it was quite busy. The service was appalling, there were only two bar staff one of whom was a trainee who really don't know the ropes. 15 minutes to get a pint and over an hour wait for food. People were literally walking out because of the long wait time.

Horrible experience waiting to be served at bars, always trying to catch the eye of the bar staff. I get ignored most of the time.

15:15 if you'd kept going on Charlemont Rd, you'd end up in birmingham

Another good un. You can certainly see some wealth in West Brom in that small part.

You said about the Charlemont tower blocks being turned into luxury flats! Are they not council flats anymore?

One of the blocks Marshall House I believe had stood empty since the late 80s before being demolished in 2004. The other block Kennedy, was vastly improved and updated and Im fairly certain that some of the apartments were either for sale or were for rent. But some of them were still council owned.
