    I can definitely respect that Mitsubishi focuses on their strengths instead of competing in the areas they are weak in. Driving dynamics has always been their strong point. Would have loved to have this with additional airbags at the very least though.

    • @mindfreeze0838
      @mindfreeze0838 Před 4 měsíci

      I agree and with the hybrid they are dealing with the one thing(apart from 3rd row space) that the XL7 beats it at, fuel economy. I get the need for more airbags but we arent going too get that on this platform(maybe side but thats it). Its not great but you also have to look at the costs involved with doing that, new platforms arent cheap and this car is targeted to a lower market segment. Cars in this segment that do have more airbags cost more and it should and those airbags dont go to the third row, thats usually reserved for premium or luxury 7 seat SUV's.

    • @AlekseiValkov
      @AlekseiValkov Před 4 měsíci +2

      @mindfreeze0838 Yeah, but other existing cars in the same price bracket and segment already have those number of airbags. Mitsubishi claims the actual reason they don't have more than 2 airbags is due to their study, where they concluded the Asean markets don't have a high enough demand for full airbag coverage.

    • @zimben8
      @zimben8 Před 4 měsíci +3

      @@mindfreeze0838 The new XForce has 6 Airbags,BSM,360 Cam and it's build on same platform like the Xpander. I wait for it to come here. Btw, with the hybrid tech it is 120kg heavier.

    • @mindfreeze0838
      @mindfreeze0838 Před 4 měsíci +2

      @@AlekseiValkov point still stands that those cars like the BRV and Stargazer are at the upper ends of the segment price wise(in some ASEAN markets those cars dont get 6 airbags until you spring for the higher trims). I didnt know about that statement in 2017 ( i wrote what I wrote based on an engineering centric vlog on the platform) , there a whole set of reason for the reasons in that study and I dont think they have shifted much since 2017. If you look at the best selling cars in the Philippines (one of the large markets referenced) most of the best selling cars last year have 2 airbags (the Xpander being one of them) as the most sold trim. Point is while you and I would like this to have 6 or more airbags the majority of the people who buy this could care one way or another.

      @@zimben8yeah but the Xforce plays in a different market segment, thats a 5 seater midsize crossover this is a 7 seat MPV Crossover.

    This is a very extensive upgrade for a car that has been lagging behind its class in terms of tech. Mitsu has been on a roll lately. Hope they also reveal the next gen pajero/montero sport soon.

    Mitsubishi has done a great job here, that old 4a91 1.5 engine is very underpowered for an mpv vehicle, its good to see a new drive train option. 1.6 mivec engine combined with electric motor is a great option.
    I hope to see this powertrain in other vehicles as well, such as the x force.

    So Mitsubishi is on a roll engine wise, Triton gets a new bi turbo diesel and the Xpander of all cars gets a new 1. 6l engine. Questions on that engine, is it natrually aspirated and are those power figures legit cause thats alot. Overall I like the new digital drivers display and the fact they didnt sacrifice trunk space for the hybrid system like alot of manufacturers do. The new wheel is a Nissan wheel and the traction modes, not sold on them since the facelift this vehicle was pretty capable offroad.

    I still can’t believe they did not add adaptive cruise control. This is a deal breaker especially on Thai roads because the road goes a bit up sometimes which makes cruise control whack the pedal to the floor until it understands it is too much. Regular cruise control is completely useless

  • @vitali2127
    @vitali2127 Před 4 měsíci

    Thanks, a good review. Im waiting for the XForce HEV because i don't need a 7 seater and the Xpander has anyway way to little safety stuff. Only 2 Airbags, no BSM, no 360 Cam, no ACC. Reckless, arrogant and cheap from Mitsubishi for a "family Car". For this low level of safety, the Xpander is to expensive. No wonder the Chinese take more and more Market share. As Thais like to say , som nam na. It's sad but i still i will never ever buy a Terrorist Genocide Xi CP CCP PLA Mafia Car. Thank u Kingsley and take care.

      Dude this car is in the lower end of the market its not going to get ADAS and alot of the target market for the car prefer it that way. As for the airbags yes that could d with an improvement but that improvement costs alot of money as it requires a new platform. Sure you could get something like a BRV but thats more money than this and it should be noted that those curtain airbags dont go to the third row( you need something like a Sorrento or X7 for that).
