Documentary telling the story of dancer Rudolf Nureyev's rise to fame in the years before he defected from communist Russia and began his long stage partnership with the British ballerina, Margot Fonteyn.
Through the vivid memories of those who knew him best, this psychological portrait tracks the origins of his rebellious character, his complex personal relationships and his artistic genius. It features previously unseen footage of his early triumphs in Leningrad, filmed by a German teenager with whom he fell in love, and who encouraged him to leave his homeland.

beautiful man with a most beautiful life story, its the story of princes and princesses, he was very aware of his life bc of what his biography would be one day and my God Rudy your biography is just the most beautiful Love Story , in my opinion💝
The pathos and grief , displayed by Nureyev, (from minute 8.39) while searching for Giselle´s grave, are so tangible, I am moved to tears.
Yes as a true artist Rudolf Nureyev had no other alternative but to choose freedom. What an amazing story. No wonder he was so very special.

Wonderful Documentary! At minute 10.46 on this video, there is Nureyev with my brother-in-law, Raymundo de Larraín, who managed the Ballet of the Marquis de Cuevas. Within days, they staged "The Sleeping Beauty," to rapturous applause. How I would have loved to see it. I am told it was the most beautiful Production of "The Sleeping Beauty!" Just looking at the clips here, is magical!

Y como bailo Rudolf como Príncipe Desire, maravilloso y que valor tuvo para seguir bailando cuando los comunistas franceses le empezaron a insultarle, tirar bombas fetidas, etc etc pero al mismo tiempo había muchos aplausos y realmente esa noche triunfó, un triunfo para toda su vida. His choreography for classical pieces like Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Swan Lake performed by the Paris Opera appeared much more challenging for the dancers. Their artistry and musicality are one of a kind!

I uploaded the whole documentary in 6 parts. Some of them were blocked on the ground of copyright infringiment.

Rudolph neuro defected from the ballet in Toronto stayed with my friend in Cabbagetown and had a small short time love affair with him later in life this person we came into my life and also died of AIDS I'm sure that he got infected from Rudolph
