    I've been using this for a couple of years now to monitor if my greenhouse vent is open and if so how open it is, this feature is way more useful than the vibration sensing nature of it

      That's a cool use case. Thanks for sharing, I'm looking for ideas for my upcoming tutorial - do you mind if I use this idea for it?

      @@3ATIVEof course go right ahead, I have it set for open, close, opening or closing depending on last few minutes and then a couple of rough positions. Handy to track versus internal temperature

    perfect application for a cat flap - depending of the movement the cat is out or in! have to work on that

      Now that's what I call a purr-fect use of technology! Just don't forget to factor in your cat's occasional "cattitude" - we don't want any clawful miscalculations! LMAO

    I’d love to stick one of these to my piano to detect vibration and run light and todolist automations. Maybe I will stick it to a pop socket attachment or something, and use it as a rotational light switch as well, like you did. Pretty useful tip especially if you’ve already got one of these, thanks đŸ™đŸŸ

      That's a cool use-case. If your keys have a lid you could use that "angle" for the Light?

      @@3ATIVE The keyboard I have in mind doesn’t, so I suppose I could use the vibration for that instead. Great idea for the keys upstairs though, haha. Using those values to see whether the lid is open/closed would be very interesting as well. I just installed Home Assistant on a mini-pc for the first time yesterday, so it’s all very new and exciting for me 😂😂 thank you so much.

    Great discovery,
    But do you know that they make another product juste to do that?
    It's a cube with accelerometer.

      LMAO - Try sticking the Aqara Cube to a door !

      @eagle56786 Pƙed 6 měsĂci +4

      If you stick the cube to something you lose just about all of its functionality. You can attach this device to something that rotates, and measure the accelerometer values to determine how gravity is acting on it (ie. it’s *upward* direction in this video) and use that for automations, IN ADDITION to the original functionality of the product.

      So how would a normal door's movement affect the reading for any of the 3 axis of this device? Is it detecting movement regardless of direction or only in relation to the direction of Earth's gravity?
