Hey Brandon Butch,
first of all, thanks for the videos - this one and also the "30+ Tipps to improve battery life" video. I watched them both twice by now but there are a few things, that I don't quite understand. Maybe you can explain it a little more:
1. On the one hand, you say "Don't always quick charge" - but on the other hand you say, it's better for battery health to quick charge because the battery has less charging stress because it's recharged faster. So....what exactly is better now and why?
2. You recommend just to charge the phone whenever possible, and there would be no reason not to charge it, because it kind of prevents charging cycles because the battery is being kept at 100%. Only thing is to limit usage while the phone is on the charger, so the battery won't get too hot. But on the other hand, you recommend not to charge the phone when it is on more than 80%. Sooooo....should I unplug it as soon as it reaches 80%?? Or what exactly is better now and why??
3. You recommend to always charge the phone over night. But not to charge the phone when over 80%. But when I keep the phone on the cable during the day, it is most likely not below 80% when going to bed, so shall I unplug it during the night or what? I don't get it... so I better DON'T charge over night then???
Maybe you can go into detail a little. That would be great. Thanks!
I still have 100% after a year of daily use on my 8 plus. I keep my phone between 40% - 80%, don't use my phone while charging, avoid fast/wireless chargers, avoid heat/cold as much as possible and don't charge overnight.
I'm nearing a year on my iPhone XR with 100% capacity and I've exclusively used fast charging and wireless. My charge cycles are usually no longer than 20% at a time and I keep it between 70-90%
Dark Shadows can i use 12w adapter for charging my iphone XR? Is it safe to use?
fh Are you charging multiple times a day? If your charging 3,4,5 times a day from 40% - 80% then your burning through a lot of charge cycles which could be why. Also only use apple chargers if possible.
My 6S Plus got 100% in battery health but drop every few minute even if I do not use the phone......
Bubbly Rhayee Anything more than a 5w charger is considered a fast charger and would increase the chance of damaging the battery health. I just use the 5w charger that was included.
Mine drops to 99% , which leads me to search for this video right now😌

EDIT: I have researched how to prolong the life of your gadget's battery (phone, laptop, tablet, etc.) and I found out that you should NOT OVERCHARGE it because it exhausts the battery charging cycles. When the certain battery charging cycles get all used up, that's when your battery starts to degrade.
MY PERSONAL ADVICE (RESEARCH MORE): You should NOT OVERCHARGE your phone or any gadget you have. If you have AT LEAST 80%, you should now unplug your charger.
Thanks You So much...
Amin Talpur no problem
question for number 1: does it mean that if its in 50-80% you stop charging already? @iyan
ozamiz angeli no. it means that those are the percentages you should charge your phone overnight. if it is more than 80%, you shouldn’t opt to charge it overnight
ozamiz angeli it also says that you should keep your phone on those percentages to prolong its battery life
All the things Brandon said is actually right. The only thing I normally do is charging my iPhone whenever the battery drops below 20%, which I will definitely change towards that. Though that was when I had iPhone 11 pro max. Now got 12 pro max, I should put the trick into action and see how it goes. Thanks Brandon!

@@voltgaming2213 I think there's a point where you can obsess over it tho. If you aren't even using your device when you want to because you're worried about battery health that is ridiculous. Doing proper things like not overheating the phone, not charging over night, are basic tips that everyone should adapt tho, and wont lead to obsession.

My iPhone 8 is on 91% after two years. I mostly charge it wirelessly with a wireless battery bank overnight (often with a podcast on for a half-hour or so to help me sleep). It is also always plugged in in the car (for CarPlay).

Im getting the iphone 11 soon and your vids help! thank u :))
On the issue of Qi vs wired fast charging, Drew from Tailosive Tech demonstrated that fast charging actually degrades the battery faster. Now, I take his data with a grain of NAcL. But it does seem feasible that the heat problem is of greater threat when fast charging, due to the whole purpose of delivering as much charge (albeit safely) to the device. Whereas, with Qi charging, even. though there's the same problem of heat, Qi charges more slowly, thus not as much power delivered at one time. Couple that with built in power management, and I gather Qi charging to be the safer option. I'll continue to do my own home-brew experiments to see what works best. But overall, great video.
What’s your battery health right now?🥁🥁
Replacing the battery is $89 here in Canada. Honestly I thought it would cost a lot lot more. If I already spent over $1000 on a phone, that battery replacement price isn't bad.
but does the phone retain its official ip rating after that ?
So in terms of charging... whenever your phone goes to 50% charge it til 80%. And the only time it should really be at 100% is when you charge it overnight? Which is unlikely considering only charge over night if you are under 40% ?

An iPhone for every day of the week.
Blessed.
It used to be that if you treated a phone battery poorly, you would get a very short lifespan (sometimes as low as 6 months). Nowadays, with the advanced battery management features on iPhones, batteries routinely last 2 years regardless of how well you treat them. I just factor in a battery replacement every two years. It's pretty cheap to do, even at the Apple store and means you don't need to remember any of the things mentioned in this video.
@Emmanuel Goldstein longer than two years.
@Brandon Butch is it better to turn off your phone while charging or keep it on?
I just switched over to wireless charging with overcharge protection. And just charge overnight not more than once a day. My 11 pro max was already at 94% by the 11th month compared to my 12 pro max that still 100 and it’s been almost a year.

Basically try to keep your battery in between 50% and 80% as much as you can
I have a question... If u only charge ur iPhone to 80%, doesn't this mean that you can only use 80% of your capacity on the first day? Whereas other ppl doesn't care at all and charge to 100% every time and after 2 years their battery capacity drops to 80%. And rarely go to 100%.

But usually it is more like between 30% and 90%
Hi Brandon. I have some things to clarify from you:
What do you mean by charge your phone anytime you can (at the last part of the video)?
You're telling us not to use fast chargers. Does that include the chargers that come with iPhone 11 Pro Max?
Yes use only 5 watt charger
Apple: 500 normal charging cycles
Me: unplugs my phone after I plugged in as soon as it reached 35%
Panda 730S twking notes lol
Although I agree with the logic of not charging the phone more than 80%, the problem is that the small battery of the iPhone 8 needs 100% to take out the day. So I prefer to change the battery every two year rather than running out in the middle of the day.
Good tips on keeping thw battery life longer. Tho i heard tech experts said battery wear and tear is normal over long period of usage so don't be worried amd afraid when you lose battery life over 2-3 years of usage
My iPhone XS Max’s battery health is at 100% normal peak performance. I usually keep my battery at around 80 - 100% and charge it constantly. I rarely charge it overnight but I do use a fast charger and a charging case. I’ve had it since September 2018.

I like your videos. I'm new to iphone and want to know if I should charge it right out of the box before the first power on?
So I bought an ip11 last year. Today I sold it with 100% battery health for a reasonable price to a coworker. It’s been an ocd-y year for me. Not a single time I charged it to 100 neither did I drain it to 0. I only charged it to 78-80 and start charging at around 50. Slow charged it for an hour everyday.that’s how I maintained mine. It wasn’t practical but I enjoyed the longer lasting battery until the end of the year. Tomorrow I’m getting a 13 pro, gonna do the same maintenance because im planning to keep it for a couple of years.
I did this with my se and I went to 97 in my third/fourth month
The SE’s battery is real bad ngl.

The os update can help the phone be more efficient thus raising the battery health
Not possible, that’s just a bug.

I have the 30W charger (yes, I paid the $50 or so because I’m an idiot) in my kitchen and it will charge my phone from 1% to like 30% in minutes. I love it, but overnight I use the Anker Power Port (I think that’s what it’s called) overnight because of their intelligent charging.
Good informative video bro 💯
Thanks Josh!
Would it harm the battery of I charge my iPhone when it is still around 90-95%?
Thanks!
With my XR I used a wireless charger every night and also when travelling in my car and battery health is at 95% after 18 months.
The battery is consumable. Charge the phone as you need to and don’t bother thinking about your battery health. When it gets below 80% health, replace the battery rather than getting a new phone. Keeping your phone as long as possible is where your money is really saved. At least that’s my approach, lol
This is very true, some people have full on brain aneurysm's when their battery health drops by 1% like relax. You probably have more important shit to worry about.
but after getting a battery replacement, you get a warning right? and you're no longer able to read your battery health, is that true? I'm getting the iphone 11 soon and I'm already stressing out. haven't even bought it yet 🥲. please let me know asap.
p.s: it's almost impossible to find genuine apple batteries where I live. does it show the battery warning after replacing with a non-geniune battery?
@@yaimem yeah, if it’s non genuine you won’t be able to see the health. You’re just going to have to guage the health on your own by judging how long it lasts. Supposedly Apple is going to start selling genuine parts at some point though
So I was wondering if plugging an Apple charging cord into a lamp with a USB port built-in would damage the batter at all. The lamp in plugged into the wall and at the base has a USB port that can have an Apple charger plugged in so rather than using a block, the charger would just plug into the lamp
I do that too
Hey Brandon... good video.

Does it make the battery better if I always charge my phone at night at 10% or does it make a difference if I do it for example on 40% and some other time on 60%
This explains why my 6 dies at 45%, had that thing for 3 years and forgot about replacing the battery.
It’s so expensive to replace it tho. It’s doable but like why replace the battery for an older iPhone. I would upgrade if I wasn’t a broke ass student.
Shmoney! It’s only $70 dollars not that expensive
Shmoney! Btw college will also rip you off
should’ve gotten it replaced in the year 2018. Apple had battery replacements at a discounted price because they got “in trouble” for “slowing down phones”
Shmoney! Get a contract with your family. Get a newer phone and have your bill stay the same or even go down. Need food credit though
Im trying to extend my battery life as long as i can! I have an 11 Pro since release @ 100% , i charge with 5w charger overnight and if i need some quick juice during the day then i use the fast charger. Also stay above 25% is possible
Tony Stark do you charge to 100%?
99 for like 5mons then down to and 93 to 91 just now!!! Huhu been using fast and wireless charges lately. Thank you for sharing this. Will just use the original apple brick from now on.
0:10 this sentiment would have been a far less click baitish title. The title currently is 100% impossible.
My 6S is at 72% capacity but I don’t want to pay the crazy prices for the new phones so I’m hanging out next to my charger all day every day lol
just get the battery replaced at apple it’s only like $50
I read that I have to keep my battery between 40% and 80%. For best battery performance. What is the best option charge during the night with the 5w charger, or charge when I wake until 80% ?
This was too hard for me to understand but it did help me at points
Do “Low Battery Mode” effect the battery health? @Brandon Butch
Things i learnt : i need an iphone to take care of its battery
should you also not use a fast charger every day for ipads? and if so, what kind(s) of charger/adapter should you use?
Hey brandon my battery health is 95% although i don’t do any of the things that u said shouldn’t be done and i bought it only 3 months ago and i really don’t know what’s causing the decrease can you tell me any tip on how to know what is the reason??
All I use is wireless charging, and leave it on the charger when I can, and charge overnight. My battery is 100% health still (Iphone 8).
For how many months its on 100 and when you plug at charge at which percent ?and do you charge twice or only 1 time in a day
thanks it would be help
same question as above, how long you have been used your ip 8?
Got my phone 4 months ago, and it dropped to 99% today. I always charged it overnight and i used optimized battery charging, i didn’t use fastcharging but then i think the actual reason why my battery health degraded is i used to play games while charging lol
@HeyFantasy ikr!! 😭 When it dropped to 99% 3 months ago, i stopped playing games! I also not playing it while charging but i dunno it just keep degrading now im stuck with 94% BH 😭
currently changed from samsung to iphone and i notice this feature. thanks for this! makes me wonder if my old phone was ruined due to constant drainage of battery😂
what charger do u use to keep 100% battery health on your phone?
I have choices between a 5W, 12W, and 20W wired, and the magsafe charger with a 20W brick.
What would u recommend?
I have a 13 pro
I actually don’t really care, as long as my phone doesn’t explode
Note 7 type beat
true😂
Forreal though if it starts to decline get a battery case
