  • Today we scored big with free things in Switzerland. (We know--free things in Switzerland!?) With our Eurail pass, we were able to take a cruise across Lake Thun from Interlaken to the quaint town of Thun. (If you haven't already, be sure to check out the benefits of having a Eurail pass in different countries!) It was the perfect way to see the towns around Interlaken and the beautiful glacial water. We even got to spot some waterfalls! It was a perfect way to spend the day.

Great video with very fitting commentary.
It's nice to see people such as yourselves being so appreciative of their surroundings and all the things they experience. It's a good quality to nurture and someday teach to the next generation.

This was a lovely video, as are all the videos you've posted. We first tuned in to your travels when you left for Italy, as we are planning our first Italy trip for this fall and are looking for good and timely info. Now we're hooked on watching your entire journey. We're happy you addressed your diet, kiddos. The old man and I have been worried about you two eating so much junk food. (Sorry to get all personal but we are grandparents and that's what grandparents do.) Anyway, we're happy that you're eating veggies as often as you can. We need you to be strong so we can all live vicariously through you on the long and happy journey ahead. But whatever ... you're young and strong and determined. Keep doing what you're doing and we'll keep watching. Salud!

hahaha - that is definitely every grandparents right, even for not-their-kids :)
thank you so so much for the kind words, and the support. we definitely will keep making these. where are you planning on going when you head to italy? we LOVED genoa, was such a wonderful surprise for us

You guys just make me smile and reevaluate my plans on how to travel. Its amazing what can be done in 2 weeks. Although things are getting sketchy here. Seems like the walls are going back up to travel. Be safe and continue to have fun. 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

@@LisaAndJosh they are starting to put restrictions on travel. Some countries aren't allowing us from the US. Some places are like Hawaii now. You have to be tested to get in that state. The CDC is putting states on the hot list. The new strain of the covid has people running. I fly with united airlines and I'm watching what they post for world travel. Italy I open thats the one I was worried about.

Nice. We just did this trip the other day. Our Berner Oberland Regional Pass got us on the boat for free as well. We upgraded to first class for the day for 40ch. That gets you first class on any boat on either lake all day. We ran into a similar issue coming back. There is actually an evening boat that doesn’t go all the way to Interlaken. Instead, it turns around at Beatenbucht. There is a bus waiting there to take you the rest of the way to Interlaken. Or, you can get off at Spiez and take the train back to Interlaken. Or, you can ride all the way back to Thun and ride the train back. We elected for the latter, and even made it all the way back to Wengen just before 11pm.
For the evening cruise, we splurged on dinner on the paddle steamer, Blumisalp, which you passed in your video. The paddle steamer itself is a real treat. It really takes you back in time.
We also took a rainy day ride on the sister steamer on Lake Brienz yesterday. Definitely fun!

Wow - that's a long travel day! Lots of boat and train and bus time :)
These are great tips - thank you!

@@LisaAndJosh Even longer that we first got off at Beatenbucht in the morning and went up the Niederhorn, and then spent 2.5 hours exploring Thun(Did the same things as you). Every day for two weeks has been long days. We did a similar hike to your Hard Kulm from Wengen to Mannlichen!- straight up! Also did a 6 hour hike from Schynigge Platte to First. The view of both Brienz and the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau were amazing though. Such a long hike took us away from the main tourist stream too!
Today we are headed back to the states after 24 days in Europe and 2 weeks in the Berner Oberland. It was amazing. With kids, we spent significantly more than you:) - A little over $10k. When the wife and I travel alone, we travel much like you though.

Very nice view of lake Thun. May I know the ferry stop at some small villages for how long? The ferry will wait the passengers? Or they have to wait the next ferry to come?

Free beer?? The air you breathe is also expensive in Switzerland

lol, that's why it was mind-blowing - it felt impossible that free beer could happen anywhere, especially in Switzerland
