I've been using Amlactin Ultra Smoothing 15% Lactic acid intensely hydrating cream on the top of my hands for several months. My dermatologist recommended this for the flat growths I had on my hands. You can barely see them now, and they aren't raised. I'm 65 and feel this cream makes my hands look much younger. The instructions say to use it twice a day, but I only use it at night and have had excellent results. Gold Bond makes a great firming neck and chest cream that I've used with great results also. Thanks for the great tips!

I’ve been using castor oil with cotton gloves nightly! Love the results for nails and hands!

I love castor oil on my face chest and hands.
Using cotton gloves overnight has worked for me, too! I usually have face and or neck residue on my fingers and palms which I wipe on the top of damp hands (very important) and then apply CeraVe cream for the ceramides, run my finger nails and cuticles under water and blot some of the water off and apply Bag Balm on them (Vaseline works, too) and put on the gloves. So even though my hands are thin skinned and boney with noticeable veins that aren't bulgy, the quality of the skin is beautiful. It also helps that I live in NYC so I don't have to drive and always apply sunscreen to them so there are no brown spots.
If anyone has brown spots on their hands or arms, there is a product by Rhonda Alison I bought from The Art of Skincare that has substantially diminished the many sunspots on my forearms surprisingly quickly, even tho I've only used it sporadically. Read and follow the directions carefully.

Beth,your makeup is lovely. I have used the gold bond for years off and on….but, sadly it has one ingredient that is not good and most makeup products has this same ingredient too. When I found this out, I am trying to find cleaner makeup and lotions for the skin,because these products not only sit on top of your skin but you absorb them as well thru your whole body. It’s called polyethylene glycol. (PEG) They even have the audacity to claim it in some vitamins over the counter. They use it precisely for the smoothness and ability to form the product which actually is a chemical for antifreeze. Found in many products today. Anyway not to burst any ones bubble and put a damper on this video, because everyone has a choice to do as they wish. But read the ingredients and choose for yourself. Just an added tip here.

Your hands look great! I will try the gold bond. I used those fake sculptured nails back in the 80's and they ruined my natural nails. I just do my nails myself and have discovered I do as good as a professional manicurist and they look real because they are! 😊 I love pale pink and beige. Thanks for the advice on hand improvement.

Great video. I've been trying different lotions. In my 70's. I know -- it is what it is. But we ladies love smooth looking hands. My husband and I both use regular Gold Bond, and it is amazing. I've never seen the other two Gold Bond lotions. I ordered them right away. I look forward to see what results I get after 30 days. Hey, anything we can do, right? Our hands are the first thing people look at. So again. thanks!!!!

I like the way you compared hand creams. It's also a good way to compare face and neck lotions by using them on half the face or neck. Quite often when I found no difference, I knew I could just buy the cheaper one for the same results.
Thanks for sharing. I don't like using hand cream either because I don't like the feel of it in the palm of my hands. But HEY Beth, I love how you use your opposite arm to apply your hand cream! I'm going to work on setting higher standards for myself and I'm doing it for ME. ♥💕♥
All you have to do is wipe your palms on a damp wash cloth or something to get anything off your palms and the underside of your fingers. But be sure not to do that for sunscreen, because that permanently stains the cloth. Use an old cloth you don't care about for that.
I use a bit of coconut oil along w shea butter into my palm, rubbing palms together until the shea grains dissolve. It doesnt take much. The shea butter jar is around $14, a very large jar of coconut oil is $14! I decant some coconut oil into a smaller container for skin care. These last a couple of years.

Maam Beth is it okay to use tinted sunblock moisturizer just to cover up my dark spots? And with hands they look ugly since Im a full time mom with all the cleaning, cooking and washing my hands afterwards which make them dry and wrinkle lines are visible..This video is a great help.. While you are explaining, cant help looking at your hair..It looks healthy and shiny at your age..Amazing! Stay beautiful inside out! I use either Retin-A or Glycolic lotion daily on my hands and arms. Apply it first (to damp skin) and then lotion.

Your hands are beautiful! I need to be much more diligent about handcream; you’ve inspired me. I am good about using sunscreen on my hands though. About 10 years ago I had the freckles and spots on my hands lasered. The results were amazing and have lasted until recently (when I had a “car” moment too!). Beth, what is the whitening toothpaste you recommended awhile back? I used a tube, but now I can’t remember the name of the product.

Hi Beth, I have also read the report comparing Adapalene to Tretinoin, as well as watching Dr. David Lin, a dermatologist, on CZcams discussing this subject. Unfortunately in the study mentioned Adapalene was at 3% (you need a prescription for that percentage) and not the 1% that is sold over the counter.

😊 I use Mary Kay Satin Hands Nourishing Shea Cream on my hands. It's absolutely fantastic and I haven't found anything comparable to it so far. And it comes in a fragrance free form for those like me who do not tolerate fragrance.

I use soap with kojic acid on the backs of my hands to fade liver spots, although unfortunately it's very drying. Avoiding sugars in the diet is the #1 most important thing to prevent liver spots, along with of course limiting sun exposure. I wear gloves when I drive now (and a brimmed hat), even while out walking around, even in the nice weather I wear white cotton gloves like they did in the 50s. I got some Gold Bond Age Renew after Dr. Dray reviewed it awhile back. I like it because it's an affordable single product with retinol that is suitable for both body and face, and retinol has a lot of research over several decades demonstrating it is effective for reducing wrinkles. However, I also dislike applying lotion and have always been lax in my regimen. This evening while I watched your video, I applied it to my face, neck and chest, hands, forearms and elbows, and thighs. It just takes a couple minutes and this product has an OK afterfeel so maybe I can get into the habit of doing this every evening, because consistency is what brings the results.

Lately I've been mixing castor oil with the retinol cream... But that texture may be yucky for you. But it absorbs pretty quick.

I see you are recommending the Jawfit Exerciser, which purports to better define the jawline, which I'm very anxious to do. However, when I read the instructions, it says you have to use a kissing expression with your mouth, which would exacerbate the vertical lines around my lips, which really really bug me. I've been treating them for months now with retinaldehyde ( Avene 1%) and a lipophilic THD vitamin C serum (Truth Treatments) mixed in my palm with some Biomemetic Mineral Mist (Truth Treatments) to ensure deeper penetration, and lo and behold, those lines got noticeably better after about 8 weeks! Those products were and still are a big investment, but since they work, I can't justify doing anything that would compromise that. What else might you suggest as an alternative to the Jawfit product? Thank you.

Beth, they do not do sclerotherapy on hands anymore, I looked into it. Reason is it could cause heart problems.

This is so interesting. I just got back from the cosmetic services department of my health care provider, I had a sclerotherapy appointment. I thought it was for my hands, they thought it was for my legs. They don’t do hands! The vein specialist says circulation can’t be guaranteed to the fingers so they don’t do it.
She suggested Retin A to improve cell turnover, possibly filler but she said be very careful who does it, and just trying to realize other people are too busy with their own issues to notice. The other option is to gain weight. 😐
Where do you recommend schlerotherapy?

I agree, especially since the over the counter formula is only 1%, so using it over lotion minimizes efficacy. It should used first, followed by the lotion. If one uses a serum on hands, then the order of application is Serum, Differin, Lotion.
I know that Dr Fort has retired according one of your posts. I called a few doctors locally who had no clue about the meds used for your schlerotherapy. Would you please the name of chemicals/meds used by Dt Fort. Thank you!!

I use Gold Bond Radiance Renewal on hands. Love it. But I have puffy veins.....which is ugly. I'll have to ask about collapsing veins. I've recently learned I have osteo arthritis on little fingers an getting a bump. I dk what they do to for that .HATE this getting old stuff. Everything goes bad .

I wouldn't worry about your hand veins. I'm 56 and have them, too. They are well-earned from years of hard work. :) I do use Retin A or Glycolic acid lotion to keep the age spots away. I'll have to look into the Gold Bond lotion you mentioned. 💖

At work I must wash my hands many times and my skin gets dry & itchy. I have used many different hand creams over the years. None have worked better than Weleda brand unscented hand cream. Does not contain parabens , phthalates, synthetic preservatives or fragrances and other chemically derived ingredients.
The veins on my hands make my hands look terrible. Was the procedure you had done to remove them costly?
I had the veins injected and it cost $1000 for both hands, but that was about 10 years years ago.
I can usually wear any lotion but every time I use Gold Bond it makes me itch so bad
The versed skincare lotion works well it contains retinol.
