  • Digital photo frames were the must have photo accessory a few years ago, but today with smart assistant devices such as the Google Home and Amazon Echo we can create a digital photo frame and display with all the benefits of the voice assistant.
    Amazon for example provide all users with 5 Gb worth of photo storage and with a few steps you can display your personal photos both as wallpapers on your Echo Shows or as a slide show. In this video I'll show you how to set this up through your echo show device as well as on a PC, Web Browser or on the Android app.

    Can you have music playing while it displays photos? Or is it only one at a time?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 3 lety +1

      Unfortunately services like Spotify take over the screen to show what you're playing and give you controls. You can ask to show your photos and it'll do a small slide show but then will go back to the music controls.

    Just got an echo show for Christmas the photos (uploaded in Alexa on my phone ) not full screen size , can you change this ?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 2 lety +1

      Couple of things to try:
      In the photo slideshow menu on the device itself, make sure smart cropping is selected, this should help with framing them better on the display.
      I also find if you use the Amazon photos app on your phone, create an album there and select that on the echo as what to display you tend to get better results.
      Hope this helps

      @@AndysTechLife hi Andy I thought I’d let you know I managed to sort out my photos and make them full screen size, I had to go in and change each photo to 16.9 in my photo gallery then made a new album and uploaded to the Alexa app . I thought I’d let you know for future reference. I’m very happy with my echo show 2nd generation and apparently it was only £35 on Amazon. 😉👍🏼😊

    Any size monitor, (stand-alone monitor), with a HDMI port.
    Add a Amazon fire stick 4 K. :.....
    You get the same Amazon slide show with your personal photos, et, etc.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 3 lety

      True, but the idea was to show how to do it if you own an echo show. Also, I live in Ireland and because of region issues, Amazon photos doesn't work on the fire sticks here. :(

    Can you schedule the frame to turn off at night?

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 2 lety

      You could set a routine to go back to the shows home screen, but you can't switch off the device fully. Alexa routines can be set in the app to perform an action at a specific time. The only other way would be to add a smart plug and add that to the routine too.

    My echo show 5 shows tips at the bottom of the photo frame... how can this be turned off? Is this the same on the Echo Show 15?
    I also heard the photo frame only lasts 3 hours, then stops... that is a deal breaker for me.

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před rokem

      No the tool tips currently can't be turned off. But for the photo frame you could create a routine that runs every 3 hours that will restart the picture frame using custom commands. So the routine would 'show my photos' every three hours on the Echo Frame. Not ideal but should work.

      So interestingly I can see them in the thumbnails on the album covers in the settings menu but they don't display on my Echo Show 8. Pity an animated gif would be cool:(

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 3 lety

      I've heard that Amazon Photos doesn't seem to work in some regions.
      Few things to try: See if you can setup Amazon Photos from either the website or the Amazon Photos Android app.
      If you have the Alexa app installed you should be able to change the photo option for the device through the app. Don't forget to update the app and the device first.
      If these don't work you may have to contact Amazon support and see if they support photos in your region or if there is an issue with your device.

    I have 5 photos uploaded to show but it only rotates the same 2. Apart from turning the echo show off and on again, does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem? Thanks

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 3 lety +1

      You might check if the photos are all the same format. I came across a similar issue where I had .png .jpeg and .jpg files. When I uploaded only .jpg they worked fine. The other thing to try is putting them in a collection on the amazon photos website and setting that collection to view on the echo and see if that works. If in doubt goto the amazon photos website from a pc and upload and arrange the photos there and the echo should see them. Hope this helps

      So it has a set number of pics as wallpaper that it rotates over and over vs using the 300 that I uploaded. The over way to rotate thru the 300 is to ask for photos. Stupid! It should use my 300 pics as wallpaper. thanks!!

    How do you delete photos

    • @AndysTechLife
      @AndysTechLife  Před 2 lety

      Best way is download the amazon photos app onto your phone and delete them using that as the photos are all stored on the cloud on your Amazon account so this app will let you remove them from the cloud and then they won't show on the echo any more. Hope this helps
