1. This does not get rid of ads. It gets rid of some Alexa suggestions, BUT NOT PAID ADS. There is no way to turn off paid advertising (which is growing).
2. Sure, turn them all off, but Amazon will just add more categories so you will see more until you turn those off. They have added 30 new categories in the past year and a half.
I'm close to pulling out the sledgehammer to turn off these ads PERMANENTLY. If I do I will post a video.
The only thing I've been able to do to MINIMIZE how often these things show up is press the three dots on the bottom right of each individual "paid" ad that pops up on the screen (This is after already having disabled every possible setting in every scattershot hiding spot they've put them in) and select the "hide this ad" option. That usually ends up giving me about a month of no ads until they rotate in a new set of paid ads. at which point I let my blood boil in frustration, press the three dots for each of those two to four NEW ads and after grumbling about their sleezy practices get another month or so of reprieve from scummy unwanted ads.
I just wanted to enjoy a nice looking clock and calender with temperature and weather indicator with my own art on it for my desk to see at a glance. And as so many others have said, it's frustrating to have to sit and stare at ads or totally unwanted content waiting for that info to scroll up, or stare at 30 seconds of useless suggestions because I asked alexa to turn off the lights.
This only works temporarily. Amazon has gotten wise, now they just add new items to that menu with different names. Then they automatically turn them on when the new items are added.
So a few days later, you’ll notice scrolling home content again. Asking yourself “didn’t I turn that off?”
It’s like they are tying to push customers away from their products!
I have everything unchecked and I’m still getting sponsored advertisements for TV shows like the price is right in jeopardy. All unchecked. There’s either no way to stop it or it’s a glitch, but there’s no feeling like coming into the kitchen for morning coffee and seen an advertisement on your countertop.
It just got worse. Today I am now getting ads and there is no new category in the menu to turn them off at all.

Thanks for the tutorial but I was hoping to turn off the ads for their TV shows that they keep showing me. So annoying that I paid for this, and they turn around and show me ads for the Buzz lightyear movie and Ru Paul's Drag race all the time. I bet they'll turn of the stinking ads if you pay some BS subscription or premium.
I came here for this exact reason. The price is right and jeopardy, etc. All home content unchecked. What a waste of money I feel like a stooge
@@hermesmcclintokExactly. I just threw mine in the trash because it pissed me off multiple times a day. I didn't buy this knowing it would be Amazon's forced billboard in my house. I wanted it as a photo frame. Luckily my Google displays don't do this. My opinion of Amazon has sure changed over the last few years.

except Even if you turn of EVERY SINGLE OPTION - you still get IMDB \ Prime Video Ads as well as "ALEXA your DAY"
turning off "rotate continously" *still* brings these up every 10 \ 15 minutes.
furthermore seems like my 2nd gen show 10 simply gives up and LOCKS UP on "alexa your day" showing nothing BUT that and now allowing me to swipe left or right.
I've gotten where I report every IMDB and PRIME ad as inappropriate
but you don't get any option to do report \ block them or the Alexa tips \ alexa your day options.
Heck I've even seen amazon TURN BACK ON options I've turned off.
Seriously I'm never buying another Amazon screen again.
Sigh. That's what I was looking to turn off. I don't give a crap about their freaking shows. I didn't pay $100 to get their garbage.
I’m there with you guys. Do any other brands do this? I wanted full home speakers but that doesn’t even function well and now this. I got 6 of these garbage ad machines and wasted all the money. I’d get another brand of speaker groups actually functioned in those.

You have to do that multiple times a day to make the echo show stop showing sponsored posts and shopping suggestions. I have two echo shows and they both do it. And I know how to adjust home content.

How did you get a black cord with your Echo Show. I want to purchase Echo Show 8 but it only has a white cord included, which is ridiculous for a black unit. I'll look for Siri instead!

I was watching this on my phone next to my echo show and Alexa started talking automatically. She said, “don’t you dare turn off those features. We have your balls in a vice. We will delete your Amazon prime shopping account.” This company can be worse than a toxic codependent relationship. But I guess that was their plan all along.
QUESTION: I've had mine for for over a year and when I first got it I turned everything off. For the past 3 months I started seeing ads out of nowhere... I then noticed some of those toggles you showed got turned back on... now its an ever ending cycle of turning them off... it does an update... and they are back. I know its most likely a software issue but is it considered a defect?
Mine updated a while back and started boming me with adds for stuff I don't want. If you touch it when there on alexa starts hard selling. I had to hide echo show 8. The adds won't go off. I'd unplug it but it makes my echo clock work.

I bought this to display family photos every time I pass by it’s an add for something. BS. Last tech product I’m buying from Amazon. Now I’m getting reminders to buy products on my regular Alexa. It always has a yellow ring telling me I’m running out batteries or toilet paper. It’s so annoying. I turned off every single feature and it’s still popping up. Unbelievable.
As soon as my Alexa devices start to show signs damage (if I get tired of the shit and throw them against the cement patio) I'm going to the Google universe.

I tried turning off these settings (and can't find any other suggestions), but I STILL have ads... I'm sending this POS back! Such a small thing, but I didn't PAY for this, so Amazon could force their ads down my throat. I also have a Nest, and it does not do this.
This is does not stop "Sponsored" ads. In fact the only way to really stop it completely is to throw it in the trash can where it belongs!
On this video he slides the toggle to left to turn off, but then as he switches categories it appears the "leftmost off" did not "stick" and amazon switches is back on (and to the right again). Maybe that is not what he intends to show here.

You actually have to turn all of those off like he says in the video BUT u also have to go into the privacy settings. It’s gonna ask you to log in to verify it’s u. Then there u can see things like what the device redords on a daily like voice recordings and video and even messages. “SCARY” right?😳 so the. Once in that menu u can turn of other kinds of adds. This helps a lot more but still get one or 2 that still sneak in there. It’s like almost impossible to fully turn ads of these devices these days. I’m

This only covers the blatant news and ads. It doesn't work for sponsored ads via Amazon.

I will never understand why people pay for a product… and accept that they have to watch adds on a device they paid for… its beyond me how people finds this acceptable.. its not like you got it for free.

Thank you so much for not doing what the title of your video says you will do, I love all the misleading content here on CZcams. NONE OF THIS TURNS OFF ADS. Turning everything off you will still get Ads, there is not even a way to pay to turn it off like there is for Kindle items. What a waste of 5-6 minutes of my time.
Talk to Amazon. When the video was made it was accurate. They changed their software so that you can’t turn off ads anymore. But thanks for the rant, made me laugh

I absolutely HATE the Echo Show! You can't get rid of the "By the Way..." annoying crap. You can't get rid of the "Alexa for your day"... or "Ask Alexa what gifts I can buy for under $30".... The timer font is too small, and doesn't always stay visible. It can hardly understand a word you say and defaults to showing you movie trailers or something else annoying. I bought 4 of them to sync throughout my home and it was the worst mistake of my life. Not to mention it's always listening/recording and watching you in your own home. And if anyone thinks they wouldn't gather your private information, you'd better think again...and some day soon all your private info will be breached and up for sale on the dark web!...
I don’t disagree. I’ve become increasingly unhappy with my echo show 8. I have not been able to remove the suggestions (even when I Unclicked them they appeared anyway). I keep moving my show further and further into oblivion. It was in my kitchen, then my office, and now on a desk in the basement..,
