This was one of those movies that had people cheering from their seats & crying along.it was a so beautifully shot & the music was a chatacter in its own right.saroj khans choreography was spectacular & the good triumphing evil plot though show. Many times earned a cult status to this film.madhuri was just a teen & this was a big break shooting her into the a list.i still get up & dance when i hear these songs.anil madhuri pair is one of the most popular filmi romantic duos.look up beta,kishen kanhaiyya ,parinda & tezaab.

Wow...Didn't think you will watch it so early. Thanks for watching and liking it. Paresh Rawal, Anu Kapoor( Doctor from Vicky Donor) were new at that time, doing smaller roles. And yes the movie is worth watching for performances and grandeur, and Subhash Ghai kind of movie making, keeping in mind that it's a typical Bollywood MASALA movie. Actually it's original movie is MOTHER INDIA, one son is a bad guy and the other son is good and idealist. The same was remade as DEEWAR with different interpretation. And then again RAAM LAKHAN. But many different elements are added in Raam Lakhan considering that period. But it's a good movie. I love it.
Incredible Lata!!! True, this is a beautifully picturized song, but her singing makes it to be a just-listen-to-it song. The line "sunkar meri ram duhayi dekho..." par excellence!!! There are numerous such songs with a combination of good visuals and good soundtracks in Hindi cinema. My recommendation is "me teri dushman..." a Sridevi song from Nagina. Moreover, I'm not sure what the situation is in the film, but the theme of lyrics in this song is regarding a girl complaining about her lover to his elder brother! And, there are many songs based on this type of "compliant" with the same or similar vibes. In HAHK song of Lata "didi tera dewar...", Madhuri does it again but with a fun!

I need to go back to this film and finish it one day. Started it long time ago following some songs and Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff in (very good) Parinda.
It's Subhash Ghai's directorial. In my experience his films are often from today perspective are dated, overlong but with great songs and often good climaxes. And I can watch older Indian films for their songs

The first is "Meri Sanson Ko Jo Mahka Rahi Hai" (from Badaltey Rishtey, 1978)
The second is "Be Muravvat Be Kadar" (from Bad Aur Badnam, 1984)
Both sung by Lata Mangeshkar
Subhash Ghai requested a similar song for his film from the duo
Hence it was a obviously Lata to sing the new recording.
Lata has sung in his first film in 1977 and 10+ songs before Ram-Lakhan.

I watched this movie as a kid years back outdoors on a CRT tv hung from a tree during a cold winter night in a small village. Occasion being a relative's marriage. Vaguely remembers anything apart from songs (especially this one) and, of course, Amrish Puri.

At the time of this film Anil Kapoor was on the top, just a few steps away from snatching the title of Superstar from Big B, thus giving him sleepless nights! As per my knowledge, he gave as many as 9 superhit films, back to back without a single miss! But the problem with him was that a big chunk of credit for the success was also given to his heroines, mainly Sridevi and Madhuri !!! Anyway, there is no doubt that he was a good combination of fabulous actor and stardom, with an impressive, steady, continuous career path, no break from films, no ups & downs! Taking right decision at a right time of playing secondary roles, supporting or character roles, and finally senior or father roles! However, more than his films he is now known for his evergreen youthful looks in real life and fitness!!!

This was definitely an 80's blockbuster.madhuri is very young,under 20.the music & film is memorable but be warned that the villains especially tended to be caricaturish.this a evil verses good narrative.
