Unfortunately, there are a number of movies that Madhuri made where she was the only good thing about it. And if I remember this movie correctly, her in this song was pretty much it. Movie was not great in my opinion.

That's a hospital benefit stage show. She's a doctor. Those are the nurses.
You should watch the song Andaz mera mastana, from the film Dil Apna Preet Parayi, that's a black and white film, again a hospital charity show with the male doctor and the nurses doing an Arabesque routine. And there's the suspicious wife in the audience.
She's done the desi version of Sleeping with the Enemy. That's another movie. Has ditto scenes from the original, the towels arranged on the rail, her wearing a peak cap and going to the hospital, drinking water from the dispenser.
Background dancers are important there as the entire song is in question and answer format. Secondly the setup of the song is based on Konkan/Goa region of Bharat(India), where there are lots of konkani people who are mainly fisherman. And there is a many decade old tradition of KONKANI FOLK SONGS, which is mainly a group dance format. The song is similar to that.

This is the only song where the crowd (chorus) sings the main song where as Madhuri the lead sings the chorus line (which is same line every time)
It's a song based on a folk dance from state of Maharashtra... And Goa...mostly coastal region where fishermen are and some of them are Christians...hence the cross. It is a group dance and her friends/neighbours from the community are teasing her.
Madhuri s known for her dancing skills and the expressions. When you watching her song next time remember not to take off eyes from the screen....lol

@@vinodbhairajani4682 ...This was to be sung by Asha Bhosale. Anupama Deshpande came in to sing the scratch version which is used for shooting purpose but when they heard the recorded version they decided to keep Anupama's recording and never got Asha to sing it
