- Before starting a completely new series, I would like to present some more records/videos in the "Swing from Berlin" series.
This recording by Michael Jary and his orchestra is called "Es sind viele Jahre vergangen" (Many years have passed) and was recorded for Odeon in 1941. It is a very hot recording and excellent example of Jary's talent as a bandleader.
The video features pictures / close ups of young "featured" actresses under contract to the UFA Studios as well as a clip of the very seductive Margot Hielscher in "Auf Wiedersehen, Franziska", made in 1941 for which Jary composed the music - most notably the song "Sing Nachtigall sing". Another clip features Dorit Kreysler dancing to Jary's music in "Karneval der Liebe"(1943) - featuring the songs "Haben Sie schon mal im Dunkeln geküsst", "Durch dich wird diese Welt erst schön" and "Das Karussel". The publicity for Odeon records was taken from the last ever issue of the "Filmwelt" magazine, published March 3rd, 1943.

Ich habe mir gerade meine Kopie von diesem wunderbaren Titel angehört. Als ich dann aufs Etikett geschaut habe traf mich fast der Schlag: Kaum zu glauben dass dieser heiße Swingtitel vom gleichen Mann komponiert wurde, der später mit Schunkelwalzern wie "Wer soll das bezahlen" und Co. berühmt wurde ... Aber das ist nicht die einzig tolle Komposition von Jupp Schmitz, da gibt es noch eine Reihe anderer aus dieser Zeit! Fantastisch!

this schlager comes in different versions - but this haunting melody is a true masterpiece. of european swing I compare to b. goodman and WOW - this has so much more feeling.

swing was restricted in 3rd reich but some of the best swing was made there in my opinion. Figure that out if you can
Nothing to figure out. During Stalingrad and afterwards, the dancehalls started to slow down, musically speaking. Anything else would have been inapropriate. Imagine dancing wildly, while your father, brother or husband is dying.
Aufnahme prima - bloß falsches Filmformat !
Warum frönt Leotaurus1975 bloß dem 16:9 Format, die bewegten Bilder werden entstellt!
Ursprünglich sind die meisten in 4:3. Fernsehpraxis sollte kein Vorbild sein !
Ich schließe mich der Frage an - diese Unart tun auch sehr oft die Fernsehsender !
