Loved this movie. It deserves to be nominated for Best Picture of the Year. Not just Best Foreign Picture.
Ohh it's certainly going to be nominated. I'd say it actually deserves the Best Picture oscar too and not just the nomination.
It is nominated for best picture 2020 alone with nine other films. Why is it that you don't know this?
@@zuberbasha3408 - yes! Exactly right.
Ashton Turner , agree. Phenomenal movie
Update (Golden Globe): It won Best Foreign Film. And I agree, it should win Best Picture overall.
“They’re rich but still nice”
“They’re nice because they’re rich”
I feel like the Good guy and the bad guy of this movie can be decided by the audience.. like who can relate to whom. This movie is very metaphoric and anyone can relate to even one character or situation at some point.
The mom said that. Then she said, "if I were rich I'd be nice too! Actually I'll be nicer!" And then proceeds to hit the dog and make it cry. This shows me she won't be any better. She's getting a little taste of rich and she's already reckless and hitting a dog.
Viet Nguyen yes exactly . I saw a lot of people kind of not getting or interpreting these sentences differently but I honestly think “they’re nice because they’re rich” comes from the poor family’s behavior . Because of the life of theirs they did bad things turned into “parasites” and with this sentence they kinda said that if we weren’t in this critical condition of our everyday life we wouldn’t be doing this .. and at the other hand rich people can be really nice just exactly because they’re rich people and not because they’re nice people. The level of metaphorical conversations and visualization is amazing in this movie .
Those quotes you have stated are very deep. Just bothers me because I go to church with a man that had nothing and was nice and now after 15 years he is weathy and still nice, and he gives freely to those in need.
I find it interesting that being nice is subjective. For instance, is it nice for the Parks family to not look out for their employees when they got stabbed in the heart?? At least one of them could have called the ambulance.
sage versace you mean the good guy and bad guy . Good guy does not mean protagonist

I saw it here in Los Angeles at the Vista which is only one of two theatres playing it here. I’m glad I saw it in 35mm because I think it fits well with the cinematography. What I can say is it’s truly heartbreaking, the performances were amazing. I loved Joaquin’s performance and I’m rooting for him but Adam and Scarjo’s acting is near perfection they were so great and magnificent. I wouldn’t mind if either Joaquin or Adam Driver wins the Oscar. My tip would be to watch this with an open mind because if you think this movie is about a deep dive about a couple’s relationship I think you’ll be dissapointed. I don’t want to spoil it anymore but watch it with an open mind and no expectations and you’ll love it. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and Randy Newman’s score broke my heart slowly it was so good and one of my favorite scores ever.

There's something wrong with Oscar next year if this film doesn't win the best film and best director awards. I am talking about not the "Foreign" category.
Ayye this lowkey very similar with BTS situation where some US award show made specifically kpop category just to exclude BTS from getting main categories. This year is very big year for korea entertainment in general in term worldwide achievements. Its about time!
@@snisa92 ugh, yes that was so disappointing.. pushing them into a separate category to prevent them from achieving greater success than the US artists. We know talent and hard work when we see it though- both in BTS and in Parasite's Bong Joon Ho
But it's a foreign film. Therefore, since the Oscar's are for American made movies even though they tell diverse stories, Parasite should be considered for foreign film category
@@sandrameesala6804 The Oscars are for all movies that have been released in theaters (which is why Netflix releases certain movies in theaters). It will get a best picture nod.

Parasite and Joker are the best films of 2019 hands down ( iN MY OPINION. THIS IS MY OPINION OF TWO MOVIES I LOVED DON'T TAKE IT AS THE END ALL BE ALL CAUSE IT'S JUST ONE LONELY CZcams COMMENTERS OPINION XD).
Both had me so engaged the movies felt short I had to see them multiple times cause I felt like I was missing things. Both had great actors both leads and side characters. Though I will say S. Korea has been making amazing films for more than a decade. If not longer. I just got into K movies and dramas a decade ago so I'm sure there's more.
So, yeah. These 2 are my personal picks for movies of the year.
Mm idk joker was so forced and purposely triggering which seemed lazy and you knew what was going to happen next - Idk just felt so designed.
Amazing films indeed

Snow Anaya Parasite is infinitely better than Joker
Snow Anaya Joker was no where near as good as The Lighthouse imo. I honestly can't see how you could agree that it is.
I respect Joker for great acting I admire Parasite for great film. humor, thriller, social comentary literally everything is combined in this movie

What I enjoyed most about Parasite was its pacing. The movie is a little over two hours long but it didn't feel like that as I was watching it. The story was so engaging, the first thirty minutes only felt like eight

“ this rain is a blessing”
Smh the mind set of the rich
It can be a blessing to the poor too, for example those who work in the fields
Rain is a blessing to all living beings...without rain there is no life....just because some poor people live in slums n rain make their lives inconvenient...that doesn't mean....
oh but they are poor so we must sympathise with them...whether they are thieves, murderer, criminal..but most importantly they are poor.
The rain also ruined the rich people’s outing too... for some reason all the internet literature professors are over looking that when you’re rich you can turn bad to good by spending a lot of money without care!!
And You can see how the rich react with the heavy rain. they cancel and comback while the poor didn't realize despite the sound of the thunder. If they are aware they should went back to they home and prepare to move. That also the different.

The film's meant to teach class consciousness. The parasite is never the one starving to death
a parasite starves to death unless it attaches to a host...and often times a parasite kills it's host whether intentionally or unintentionally. So in this film the poor family are meant to symbolize a parasite because they are struggling to survive, latch onto something thriving by disguising themselves, and in the end murder the "host" which causes them to fail as well. Very similar to parasites in nature. With the father lying dormant in the bunker at the end, also very similar to what a parasite will do.

Song kang ho is one of the great/Underrated actor.
Well just for your information, he has been considered to be one of the most talented actors in S. Korea for nearly two decades.
