for me, feeling depressed came from feeling helpless to change anything, and thus feeling hopeless that anything would change. as a grown up I'm always looking for things I can do to make a difference, and that makes me not lose hope that things can and will get better.

I'm glad you are opening up and talking about mental health. In general, Korean society do not like to talk about mental health issues and it used to be extremely stigmatized like 10+ years ago. Not so much anymore, but I am glad you are opening up about your struggles related to mental health.

Gen Z is lucky in that accessibility to mental health resources and trauma processing is what they came of age to. I was in my late 20s when all this happened and only then started to process things even though I went to therapy. Thank you for sharing your journey.

Came here after seeing the "failing out of college" video. I really like the footage of you painting starting at 9:38. The warm lighting makes me feel nostalgic for when I was a kid and would draw stuff in front of my computer after school.

I am subscribed and the alert setup is on, regardless that I didn't receive a notification for this video, this world works exactly that way, completely erratically

@@rooistudio why would anyone upload a video that the audience don't get notified for? What's the practical use for that? Useless options, it's still an erratic world.

Thanks for telling your story. More people need to do that. I am a 43 year old male and I battled Bipolar and OCD since I was about 6 and ADHD since I was born. Took me decades to get it straight and live a good life. I went and still do therapy. I was stubborn and wouldn't go for years because I didn't think talking about my problems would help. Boy was I wrong. I went through sexual abuse for years when I was 6 and 7, so that triggered the rages and bipolar episodes. Didn't tell anyone for 21 years and so it ate me up inside every day until I couldn't take it any longer. I do many different things from medication, therapy, vitamins, life style changes, exercise, work etc.. all to keep my life in check. Trust me its a journey and not a destination. Definitely a life-long process. So many insights and ah-ha moments over the years. Only thing I would really change is I sure as hell would get help for my issues a lot sooner than I did. As far as the issues I went through and the strength, confidence, happiness and life lessons I have learned as a result for having gone through those things: I wouldn't change it for the world.
Thanks for sharing. Good luck to you! I subbed your channel.

I am going through severe depression right now because of a heartbreak. This is not the first time to have my heart broken yet the pain of this one is unprecedented for various reasons and I can barely function. I am trying various techniques to cope. I still have to fight not to sob in public everyday when the depression attack comes but having an understanding of what depression is and why it exists as a human condition gives me some sense of control over the ordeal. I exercise and drink coffee moderately to get my dose of happy hormones. Currently, I emotions are messed up, and I learn somewhere that I have to learn not to make choices by guts feeling which is now a maelstrom of sorrow, guilt and regret. I don't know how to long it will take to reconcile my reason with my emotions but at least I find a way not to ruin myself further.

hi lots of love to you rooi , for sharing your journey
I just want your suggestion on something, I have been feeling like everyone around me is in survival mode, no one cares about how sad we feel. it feels like we are just going through it and it feels depressing. I wish to have a healthy adult in my environment so I can learn, how to live life happily. maybe
I have my university entrance exam coming, I trying my best to not focus on other parts of my life and just focus on exam, but it kinda sucks
I don't know how I would end up
would you like to share your opinion on it what you would have done?

    • @rooistudio
      @rooistudio  Před 6 měsíci +1

@muskansmile3249 i don't have all the answers, but if i could go back i would go to the school office and ask to speak to an admin (any one i felt would listen) and ask for help. i didn't even know that my school had a psychiatrist until i broke down at school and they had me meet them lol. sometimes adults don't know how bad it is unless you *literally* cry for help...
if that's not an option, there may be mental health hotlines for where you live (988 in the US) and if you don't have the capacity for that/it doesn't work for you, there are mental health professionals on the internet who make content and resources, including quick content like posts/shorts. sometimes you can go a long way following mental health exercises from books/online.
maybe some others can share tips/resources in this thread too :) i wish it wasn't so difficult to find help as a young person, but as long as you are there for yourself you will always have someone. at the end of the day you gotta be that biggest cheerleader for yourself.
much love and good luck, you'll get through it - you've already started and that's the hardest part 💛

the daily sobbing in bed really resonated with me bcz I too shared my room with mom
and then I went to college and everything fixed itself...tho in reality I had developed it as a coping mech for whenever things didn't go my way
Unsurprisingly it returned and after a few months I finally figured out that it was really unhealthy to obsess over your goals so badly that when things do not go your way, you start berating and tormenting yourself to the point you can't even sleep
honestly these past three months of my sophomore year went really well showing actuall progress ❤️‍🩹
