My favorite part of this series is that they use the powers of the kids to highlight many young adult issues such as binge/purge for Emma's shrinking/growth powers, cutting/self-harm so Marie can access her own blood, and gender identity for Jordan's male/female powers.
You always want to give Emma a big hug after each episode. 😢😢
Emma is the best character and best person in the show, IMO.
The writers on this show really know how to make the POS's in the show realistic.

Emma is hands down my favorite in Gen V. I think her story arc is the most compelling. But all of them have mess up family issues.

To be fair to Marie's sister, while it was all a huge accident, Marie is the person that killed their parents and made them orphans, i can imagine it would be difficult to just get over something like that.

Angela, if you haven't heard, Chance Perdomo (the actor who plays Andre) just died last month in a motorcycle crash. He was traveling from New York to Toronto to begin filming for Season 2. I think he did a great job in this, and in Sabrina as well.
At 26:37 - that's a real dirty trick. You make mention of something really sensetive, then you assure the person it won't be mentioned. It wrecks their equilibrium, so they can't easily stick to pre-prepared answers for even soft questions. It pays to remember that Magneto's power is "manipulating metal" and look at where he is.

emma really seems like 'happy' is her natural state, but everyone around can't help carelessly smacking that happiness away. to me, this is what was weird about kaylee in firefly. she was similar, but somehow, the world could almost never smack away her happy. it didn't seem like it should exist in nature.

I never noticed until now that Andre is a metalbender and Marie a bloodbender. I know their powers, but I didn't make the Avatar connection. I was glad they set up this show as a mystery, as those are a favorite and it was fun to see one in the superhero context.
Amazing story telling in this show and how it fits into the universe. Very Fallout or just good writing. 😊

Wow, I was not expecting that watching your reaction to this series which I already seen would be the source of a spoiler, kinda. I had absolutely no clue that Chance Perdomo had passed away. It's really sad anytime a promising young person dies. I'm assuming they will have to recast the character, but I'm sure that will impact the cast's performance.
I think Emma is her own problem. She goes out with the guy who liked her CZcams channel and he sees her as her CZcams channel. She has the power to be everything she wants to be.
Cate has Telepathy Power aka Tactile Hypnosis. Andre' power are Magnetic in natural so think Magneto, he could be very powerful.
Emma is legitimately the best character in the show, and needs to be protected at all costs.

Also kinda always assumed the self harm warning was due to Maria literally slitting her wrist every time she goes to use her powers but technically all the kids harm themselves at some point it seems....
The Woods and Elmira are two places. Red River is Vought’s orphanage, Elmira (at the end of the show) is where young supes go after Red River (for troublesome supes, and few making it out), Sage Grive (Stormfront’s creation) doing experiments on supes, God U is where the promising young supes are sent, and The Woods is Godolkin’s secret facility for making a virus that controlled supes.

Funnylilgalreacts i think you missed few things about Jordan - they didnt do act ANYTHING wrong to Marie, they basicly just relayed Marie decision that was made about her by school leaders - either Brink or some else, i dont think Jordan as assistant TA just on whim blocked Marie from joining hero classes, they dont have that power, so its even more shady that Marie pretend she was 1 that fought Golden Boy.
