When he was in his 70's my dad used to man a volunteer free coffee bar at a rest area. Once in a while some poor broke down trucker would limp in. If the fella had to wait for service or parts, dad would call ahead to mom to fire up the stove and get ready. He'd bring a trucker or two home for a shower and a hot home cooked meal followed by some rack time with a wake up call or a game of cribbage and conversation, until the service truck was ready to head back with the parts. One fella used to drop by with a new blown glass angel bell if he would be thru when it was her birthday. Never underestimate the value of hot food, coffee, conversation and consideration that you can give to a trucker.👍

St. Louis shout-out! That was the Veterans Memorial /slash/Stan 'the Man' Musial bridge.
I'm parked I'd say about 34 miles (as the crow flies) SW of STL. Parked so long, my tires got roots.
Always had a spare CB-radio. Years of training drivers, I've sold many of them to newbies. Now with cell phones, everybody is a media station, and no one knows the courtesy on the radio anymore. I was one of the last White Knights of the road. Lol, and I had a black Stetson with a titanium band. And like you, hairier than the dog. But for me I inherited a wool suit to match! Thanks Dad. But not like him with the skull hair, I grew my scalp hair long like you, but a bit longer. I'd say, bout down to my vertical smile. Dang if I didn't sit on it more times than I cared to. Worked great in the cold. Used it as a muffler. Ha, I miss the road, and then again, I don't. Don't miss the long hours or the knock on the door by the lot lizards beggin' to get out. Err, uh, get in. Happy Trails Wild Wild West. Wait up, is that your handle? I go by my alias: SNAFU. In military ways the F word is used, but when asked what that means, I'll respond with Fowled Up so if kids are listening. Don't like the word, but still love the activity. HA! Take care Jax! Smooth Roads Ahead!

Your story reminded me of the time my 10 year old daughter was with me on the truck (34 years ago now) and heard the F word on the CB and immediately asked what it meant. After few moments of thought, I explained it was a bad word and she shouldn't ever use it. She insisted that there must be a meaning, then I told her to ask her mom when she got home. To make kind of a long story short, now I needed to know too. So, again I said ask your mom if we can find out the origin of the word.
Well, about a week later they seem to have found an answer after a great deal of time in research, they ended up at the Gonzaga law library for the definition. As it turned out it wasn't a word at all. It was an acronym. An acronym that was commonly used around the turn of the 20th century pertaining to the law, in regards to criminal sex offender, and the evidence of.
The prosecutor for the state would ask the court to "file under carnal knowledge" in short; F.U.C.K. the evidence. Totally misused for sure.

Those children will never forget their great adventure trucking with you! Thank you, it was so fun and beautiful to watch. Little Kod-man is adorable and smart as a whip! His excitement over being on CZcams swelled my heart.
That white marble is used in landscaping a lot and is usually sold in 40 pound bags. I had a spot between the sidewalk and fence that drove me crazy, couldn’t ever get anything to grow there but weeds so I finally weeded it, laid down weed barrier fabric and filled it in with white marble rock and didn’t have to weed again. While I didn’t really love it washing the dirt off the marble once in a while was a lot better than fighting the weeds!
Glad we finished the Georgia trip 😅, that was some dang good trucking you did young man. It makes me so sad that so many ranchers have had to resort to feeding corn and straw to get their cattle through the winter, it shouldn’t be that way.
Jax you are a beautiful human being!
God bless you all and keep you safe ❤️🙏

I worked on the Schute Creek and LaBarge projects in the early to mid 80s, in the winter both times one on the night crew. It was so cold, when you melted the ice and snow off the pipe, as I was a pipefitter, as soon as it hit the bottom of the hooch it would freeze instantaneously.
12days on 2 days off. I would drive my 72 AMX javelin to Chubbuck and come back Monday to work the night shift..
In May we had 3-4 feet of snow in LaBarge to Jackson Hole.
We had snow this morning here in Southern California. How ironic. I move to Southern California to get away from the snow and ice, and I miscalculated on that...
God bless you and your loved ones

AWESOME JOURNEY! AWESOME VIDEO! THANKS FOR TAKING US ALONE!
Was little wild I am watching and I am like hey that looks a lot like my home area, I rewind zoom in & realize yeap that 1 tree that 1 twig I knew it looked familiar 😉. Maybe not a twig but odd little things you dont even realize you see and when watching a video something so small you recognize, realize hey that's my road, my area, it is just weird. I know it not unusally especially nowadays with all videos cameras that you going see your area on a video. What was odd to me was it was the little things I seen on the side of road and the road that I didn't even know I knew was like a landmark for me because you think of big signs, buildings, or mile marker as what you recognize, not what catch my eye yes validated later by seeing a sign or building but not what made me go wait what.
Jax Thanks for the journey REALLY ENJOYED IT!

The truck stop he's probably talking about is or was (been awhile since I was there, might not be now) a really good stop for a meal. They had dollar bills on walls and ceiling from all drivers. When there was a wreck and a driver died on moneteagle they would donate all the money to the drivers family. Dad always stopped there when I rode with him as a little boy. I drive myself and pull jopper and livestock. But I miss going over Monteagle.

You were in my neck of the woods. If you find yourself going to GA, and I'm assuming you took 24 in, there is a shortcut of sorts around Nashville so you don't have to play lane change games to get thru. It adds some miles to your trip but saves time in traffic. Once you get in TN take exit 43 that exit splits into 2 exits take 52nd toward Opryland. Follow that to interstate 40 E. Then take interstate 840 back around to 24 E. On 840 there is a Love's it's Couchville Pike exit. If it's full you can park on the left side of the street.

There definitely is a lot less good "sit down" places to eat on the road. I'm one of the old truckers now (weird to admit that...). But I gotta say your attitude is awesome. Enjoying the ride is the secret. And treating your customers with respect always makes pickup and delivery easier. My motto is "your house, your rules" at the stops and they appreciate that. but dude you gotta fix the cracked windshield, kinda a flag for DOT inspection . Enjoy and be safe.

What ive found is if your not parked around 1900 to 2000 especialy near the est cst line you better just consider pushin thru to ur load/unload site. Or prepare to park on a rest area ramp. Bout 0130 you can start seein some spots open up.
I went and made a few google map lists of hole in wall park spots, reat areas, just to help plan my runs

Even have a washout list aimed for hoppers.
Sadly no way to really share these publicly for all to use very well.

The guy that you were behind while passing the truck in the ditch probably couldn’t see with the tow trucks lights, and your high beams on shining in his mirror.
