    I think we should keep Partey, but we go in the market for someone like Fofana who most likely will take that starting spot in our midfield instead of Partey. Then you have a quartet of Rice, Partey, Jorginho and "new signing like Fofana" That is an absolute powerhouse midfield that would take us through a season.

      Yeah Partey can become their Coach since he's probably gona miss most of the season

    Obi-Martin will be part of the long term project. There's a long way for him to go at his age, so think 3-4 years from now he could be a 1st team starter if he's still hitting these high goal tallies. I do feel he deserves some 1st team minutes as a reward and incentive though, not that he looks like he needs any incentive, but it all helps young players knuckle down.

    Hi Tom, great show as always. I believe Jesus will stay and be an option on the wings, we'll most likely get a young striker( Zirkzee, Sesko) to rotate with Havertz upfront, then a left 8 in the mould of a Guimaraes/ Douglas Luiz who can play with any of Rice/partey/ Jorginho as partners in slightly easier games. Gives us a chance to have several different midfield combinations to pick from. My take 😊

    G.Jesus is probably one of the most earnest player in the PL for me like Miguel Almiron among others. These players are often prone to get injured quite frequently becoz they play every game like it is their last one . Once again it shows how astute Pep is as a coach ..he rarely picked GJ in consecutive games therefore preventing him getting injured all the time like he is now. But he always started him in the most pivotal games of the season.

    I don't get how CF isn't a priority position for us. If we keep Jorginho we need one more CM (Maybe even Sambi can fill that role or have Zinny move there as 3rd/4th choice) and everything else should be focused on a CF. Jesus can play wide, which would mean we'd have 4 top quality wide players in Saka, Marti, Leo and Jesus.

    • @TheGoonerTalkTV

      Because we might score more goals than we ever have before in the Premier League this season and midfield and wide areas are more important

    TC, I'd be interested to know how many goals KH29 would have potentially had if he took penalties and was played in the position he is now in the 2nd half of the season to the 1st. 20+? Great content as always Tom thx and Up The Arse COYG

    I think Jorginho has a few more years of good performances at our level. He's a great option for MA to play a different setup, and he's far more available than Partey.

    Critics love to say Arteta hasn’t given enough chances to academy players but it’s not like any of the players he’s let leave have gone on to make us regret it. The manager picks the best squad available and you to meet the fogging estandards

    "7 senior debuts". And how many play regularly? Giving them a chance means more than a token debut to encourage them to sign a new deal. And the argument of "you can't complain about not playing the youth and then complain if we play them and crash out of cups" is ridiculous. We crash out of cups early anyway. Artetas cup record besides that first season is overall very poor. Of all the things to defend Arteta on (and there are many, he's done brilliantly), this is the worst one to die on a hill for.

    I don't agree on VAR Tom. VAR shouldn't make mistakes but they are still human . Var us there to reduce mistakes not be perfect . I agree there are many many ways it can improve. But saying it should be perfect for me isn't correct.

    Shouldn't the media and the rest of the channels discuss transfers after the season? This news may demotivate concerned players, viz., Jesus, Partey, et al. who may not be willing to give their 100% for the remaining 3 games, which are very crucial.

  • @jsncuckler
    @jsncuckler Před 16 dny

    Thanks for touching on the juxtaposition Arteta finds himself with youth and depth. With the stakes of PL and CL so high. We lack depth past the 15 -16th players. There are projects that are very delicate to navigate from 15-16 through the 20th 1st team players. Imagine you’re killing yourself at each and every training session and the manager doesn’t give you an opportunity but chooses a youth player. The dressing room would be lost. So it’s a catch 22 when those middle level players are not at the level of depth to compete. If they were they’d get rotation more often therefore allowing the ability to insert youth and save the collective mentality. It’s why we need to offload and sign players that push our current starters to either step up or be the competition for their current place. Jesus is a perfect example. He’s a perfect option across 3 positions to push the starting players.
