  • Sir Paul McCartney has said the Brexit referendum was "probably a mistake" and he'll "be glad when it's over".
Subscribe to our channel here: goo.gl/31Q53F
The ex-Beatle, who didn't vote in the 2016 referendum, said he "didn't see anybody saying anything sensible enough".
He said the current situation was "a mess", but added: "I think we'll come through it, we always do."
Sir Paul was speaking to BBC Newsnight as he - with daughters, Stella and Mary - released a book of personal photos, taken by his late wife, Linda.
The book - 'Linda McCartney. The Polaroid Diaries' - compiles more than 200 photographs from her private collection and offers a glimpse into the family's life in Scotland and southern England.
Newsnight is the BBC's flagship news and current affairs TV programme - with analysis, debate, exclusives, and robust interviews.

But she remembers her mom and dad making an album. She knows the Beatles did "All you need is love" but she's probably never watched the performance on on You Tube with four grown men singing in a room full of people. He was the one who looked the most like Paul. He had a small face, round head, highly swooped eyebrows and a small thin nose. And then there was William, whom as you know has green eyes, long thin nose, elongated face and dangling chin - and least but not last there was Pete Santora. Who looked a good bit like William but there were a few minor differences - such as his eyes which are blue, the shape of his face which is slightly shorter than than that of Williams and his nose which is quite robust, and looks slightly beaked from the side. So there you have it those 3 men were brought in to act as Paul replacements in the late 60s and spent the last 50 years pretending to be him. Marty - the one small face and round head quit his stint as a False Paul in 2001 while, Pete the false Paul in the video above. (That is right, the man in the video is not William, but Pete. At 70, and having purchased Remastered and Reissued releases : The White Album, Abbey Road, and now Let It Be ( box sets with books, etc.) , it reinforces and reinstills the greatness of The Beatles. Each of the Fab 4 had their own personalities, and the people of my generation watched Them Grow Up. I have just watched Eight Day A Week - The Touring Years movie. It serves to remind us of what BEATLEMANIA was a d how it affected them individually. A slight wince occurred over here when Stella said Paul had come up with 'All You Need is Love', and in his teens. That's some pretty basic Beatles history for a Beatles daughter to not know. I guess she grew up so close to it. Poor old Paul felt he had to redress the balance by saying John would get irritated when Paul's songs were attributed to him. There' still a little rivalry there then...

What you need to remember is that she doesn't go and devour every piece of McCartney trivia like we do. She has actual memories rather than sound bytes. So she got the albums wrong. But she remembers her mom and dad making an album. She knows the Beatles did "All you need is love" but she's probably never watched the performance on on You Tube with four grown men singing in a room full of people. I think it's a tribute to the way they raised her that she is absolutely clueless about the things we all know about his famous side. I love it.

Linda McCartney was one of the greatest photographers of the Rock 'N' Roll Era. While there were dozens of pioneering female photographers who worked before she was active, Linda did get a lot of outstanding pictures from many of the major bands and music artists of the 1960's, and also some from the 1970's and 1980's. Despite what some may believe, her photographs are not all just Beatles or McCartney-related images.
Secondly, John Lennon mostly wrote "All You Need Is Love." It was especially written for The Beatles appearance as the official UK representatives for the 1967 "Our World" TV Special. "Our World" was the first worldwide satellite TV broadcast, and each major country on the planet, and some small countries as well, were each allowed one music act or speaker for the show. Paul had recently turned 25 when the show aired.
Finally, I'm an American, so perhaps it's not my place to voice an opinion on Brexit. All I wish to point out is that Ringo Starr lives in Los Angeles most of the year, so while, as an English citizen, he of course has an opinion on Brexit, the actual outcome of the matter is not something he will feel every day, or even that often. Paul McCartney spends months in New York and Los Angeles each year, but primarily lives in England. His children and grandchildren, with the exception of his eldest daughter Heather, all live in England. His family will be affected much more by how it is all decided.

In the EU you can find work, holiday and retire without visas, and study abroad on the Erasmus programme, offering you and your family even more ways to get on in life.

Out with the girls, promoting a book of his late wife's work is no surprise. Paul is the practical-genius boy-next-door; driven by an old school work ethic, and a love of music. That he has continued to make himself accessible after decades in the spotlight, is more than a function of duty and responsibility (i.e., to whom much has been given, much is expected); it is an act of love. The world needs more people like him: Authentic, thinking people who, although they may hold strong views and emotions, are publicly moderate in their speech and demeanor. Soft spoken but the absolute antithesis of a pushover. Moreover, that British "get on with it" attitude is comforting in the reactionary "you're not important unless you are a member of a group of self-proclaimed victims" world we have quietly allowed to bully us into submission. I love Linda McCartney. She was super duper cool. So down to earth and not at all materialistic. I think she helped him so much. I feel calmer when I hear her in interviews. She made it seem like all is well and everything will work out. Miss her. She was a rare gem and wanted to be in with the rest of us. She said it was more fun. She really knew that we are all the same. Paul was lucky.

@@macraghnaill3553 That's the problem, really. Most of the country was and is compsed of Remainers, but the polls said not to worry because the Remainers would be the majority anyway, so the only people that did show up on the referendum were a handful of panicking Brexiteers.

Linda had it right. She was, is, a pure soul, and it's sad she left so early. In her honor, I want to give out a link to an article that advocates the use of plant-based fertilizers over animal fertilizers, and how it relates to veganism, generally. It's a lengthy article that is the most incredible one I've ever come across. It talks about how animal fertilizers from factory farms pollute the ground and water, ruining the soil for farming, hurts the ecology, and how bad pathogens from the fertilizer ends up in the crops. Even organic farms use it sometimes, and it's still called organic food. Organic grass is healthier for the soil, and the crops. And how it takes 4 times as much land to produce the same amount of animal fertilizer that growing hay would. And how even in small organic dairies, the animals live short lives, and then have unnatural ends. And the cruelty in the factory farm dairies. Vegan diets are healthier, also, because meats are bad news, plus the fats cause heart issues, etc. You can get healthy fats, especially unsaturated fats, and proteins, from non-meat and dairy. And sprouted grains for reduced lectins. That's just a basic overview. Google 'Is it time for a plant-based agriculture?', by the North America Vegetarian Society.

      Jesus did!

The digital ones are on a computer. I have tonnes more on my hard drives than in that shoe box but guess which ones get looked at?
