Lovely car but that big screen might be a bit too intrusive and distracting.

I didn't find it an issue at all. The heads up display in the car is so good that you'd rarely have to look at the screen anyway. Also, I think there's a setting where you can just turn off the screen if wanted. Thanks for the comment!

Size has advantages, but its also its biggest negative. I suggested a bit of adjustment to slide it down when not in use, so its not so distracting.

Can we assume that Skoda will have their own version of this.......in time??

First, the wheels are hideous. Second, the haptic controls (along with any piano black) needs to die a slow and painful death, and I've never been a big fan of the hexagonal steering wheel cap. I much prefer the round type from previous generations which looked more upscale.
Speaking of steering wheel, there really needs to be a power option at this point. Especially now that VW includes multi-way power and memory seats.
Anyway, some things they got right is the center console. It closes up so nice and clean and becomes completely minimalist and uncluttered. VW gets an A+ for that. One more thing, I wish the display wasn't fixed and had some amount of adjustability and could lower/tilt/angle a bit. Sometimes the passenger can take care of the navigation while the operator focuses totally on driving.
BTW, isn't that a power button I see on the right side of the steering column?
