Throughout the song, there's a play going on in the background, which tells a part of the story from the great Indian epic, "Ramayana". To explain it shortly, according to Hindu mythology, our Lord Vishnu is said to descend in 10 different incarnations in 10 different eras to restore cosmic order, which we call "Dashavatar"(meaning 10 incarnations). The book of Ramayana tells the story of one of the incarnations, Lord Rama. The part of story which they r playing in this song is the part where Rama is exiled from the empire, who is followed by his wife Sita and his loyal brother Lakshmana. A villain named Ravana kidnaps Sita, and the bird you saw whose wing was slashed is called Garuda, who was trying to stop him and protect Sita. He takes her to his empire and Rama takes help from his devotee Hanuman, who comes with an army of monkeys to help cross the ocean and get to the empire. Rama kills Ravana and rescues Sita. The huge idol with 10 heads that was fired with arrows is that of Ravana (he's a demon with 10 heads). This is celebrated every year in India as a festival called "Dussehra" where they celebrate the triumph of good over evil.
