I would cut the biscuit in half and add grape jelly, egg, cheese, and bacon. I would add honey( 3-4 tbsps) after mixing the buttermilk and dry ingredients. Thanks, Donna!

Miss Donna I made this last night. It was good but I can see why Dude referred to it as cornbread. It kinda has a bit of a cornbread texture. I followed your suggestion to use caution regarding the butter. I placed the skillet in a baking sheet . I decided to use less butter and a little less batter to help keep it from bubbling over. It worked but it was close! The swim could have become a spill 😂😮 I kept a close eye on it. I may have used too much baking powder. I could taste it in the biscuit. Dude #1 cuts the middle out of his biscuit but he thinks it is funny that you like the corner of a piece of cake😅 We all have our own food quirks. Thanks for another good recipe.
I made these biscuits but did half the recipe. Amazingly Delicious and So Easy! I put rosemary sage salt on the top of the biscuits and in the batter. 🥰
Okay. I'm going to have to try this. I love big fluffy biscuits. Even though I've known people that are like Dude #1 and remove the fluffy part. Even when I'm rolling out my biscuit dough pat It out by hand into a rectangle and then I cut it into squares so I don't have to keep working the dough putting the pieces back together to use it all up. They turn out really fluffy like that..

We call that pon bread. Great with gravy for breakfast. Im 61 and my mother would fix it sometimes instead of biscuits. So thats what i always done. The crust is amazing on it. We never did put that much butter or shortening in pan but i bet that was so good. Lol
It's great how you have a traditional family recipe for biscuits but you're still flexible enough to 'allow' variations in your kitchen. 😂 No disrespect to biscuit purists, but I appreciate folks willing to play around a bit.

I’ve made a pone of biscuit bread for years and years. They’re delicious because you don’t have all that extra flour worked into the biscuits. Fantastic for some sausage, bacon or ham gravy. You can take this same recipe and fry it like a pancake as well. Love me some biscuits… Thank you for reminding me it’s been too long since I made this. ❤❤I do prefer a regular round biscuit for a sandwich and they taste nothing like a pone of bread. I also prefer toast 90% of the time.. 🙏🏻🙏🏻I wish you’d try one more biscuit recipe.. The two ingredients recipe. 2 c self rising flour and 2 c heavy cream.. you do have to mix this, then pat it out on a floured surface, cut it out and put into a greased iron skillet. Bake at 450 15-18 minutes.. so easy so good.
