    You'd be surprised how many 2 gens are here or all over, I have a 3/4 ton with 23 yrs on her, and a 1999 2nd gen one ton 6 speed both are running great, and no cracks in the dash either truck. Also, cut that nasty material away from your cowl over your injectors, all that's doing is dropping material in your the engine.

    One day you will learn not to lay metal stuff on or near your batteries ;) I cover mine with a piece of old carpet when doing anything under the hood.

    Seriously!!? I've struggle f@#$ed the sh!t out of getting the valve cover off 3 different times now and all 3 times I had to remove the dang bolts first and you slipped it right out with the bolts in it!!! FML 😂😂😂😂

    Mine has 357k miles on it, it runs like a new truck. Valves been checked 1time according to the original owner and they were fine at 150k. I am going to check them, but it starts right up no issues

    Good fix. More maintenance than hydraulic, but are way more reliable!

    Really like your video style on the ram everything you need to know nothing you dont. Wondering if you have your silencer ring removed and how many miles youve done with it out if so ?

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před rokem

      It's been off the duration of my ownership with no issues

  • @roelangel2008
    @roelangel2008 Před 3 lety +2

    Good job. I was wondering what ever happened with that check valve, glad u have figured out the issue. Is the check valve still installed?
    I ordered the same valve just like you as a temporary fix, in my case it was loose injector line at the head. Had to really get on it for it to stop leaking

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah, I just left it, no point in removing it. Truck has been starting perfectly ever since the new crossover tubes.

  • @chrisallen3741

    Why do you skip a piston…shouldn’t you do all of them in a row…or do you move the timing

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety +2

      At Top dead center only the ones with slack in them at a given position can be adjusted. If they are under tension there is no way to measure them.

    What year is this? I'd be GREAT to put that in the description, THANKS!

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety +3

      2001, the 24v is the 24v though. So year is irrelevant. Common rail 5.9 came after, and 12v 5.9 came before.

    When turning alternator over tdc does not turn

  • @AirsoftGunsAndBbGuns

    idk if you still check notifications but if so, im finishing a head gasket job and when trying to turn my engine over with the alt. the crank pulley doesnt move, the belt slides over it, what would you check?

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před rokem +1

      Could try rotating it the opposite direction, I've found that helps with putting tension on the tensioner, otherwise get a bolt onto the crank itself or VP44 pump bolt and rotate it that way.

    • @AirsoftGunsAndBbGuns
      @AirsoftGunsAndBbGuns Před rokem

      @@AllThingsBoost appreciate the reply ended up figuring it out, just put a little tension on the tensioner and it gripped it

    Greetings new too the Cummins world…just bought a 2006 Dodge 250@ 5.9 24 valve how do I know if I need an adjustment? Thanks any advice would be appreciated!

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety

      To my knowledge the newer trucks, 01 and up really, do not need adjustments. But I know nothing about the commonrail design changes in the 2003 and newer 3rd gen trucks. From MY VP44 fuel injection to your style.

    Are the valves torqued?

  • @blue123111

    Did it sound like a manifold leak?

  • @ishdhillon4145

    Why you lifting the lifter with right hand while checking that’s not good

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 2 lety +3

      To get the feeler gauge to slide in easier. That little bit of pressure isnt going to throw it off, I'd have to literally pull up hard enough to compress the valve spring to make an effect.

  • @mc-qx6ue
    @mc-qx6ue Před rokem

    What issues do loose valves cause?

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před rokem +1

      Noise and less efficiency as they are not opening fully to let air in or exhaust out.

  • @damiandelapp5490
    @damiandelapp5490 Před rokem

    Valve adjustment should be done stone cold

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před rokem +2

      Cold, trying to do this on a hot motor would not be wise, and probably lead to inconsistency as things cool as you go.

  • @lastdtail2002
    @lastdtail2002 Před 16 dny

    so, you can pull the valve cover off and see the valves? rotflmmfao! thats funny... maybe you should learn before you tell others the wrong way.

    • @AllThingsBoost
      @AllThingsBoost  Před 16 dny

      So the rockers are not pushing on the tops of the valves?
