    I was prediabetic (A1C 6.3) for a bit and my doctor warned me, but it really didn't sink in and I thought I'd just make small changes over time and be done with it. I go in for weight-loss and new blood tests showed my 2023 holiday freak out turned my 6.3 to a 6.9 this past March so I know I was only in this range for a short time. I was put on the lowest dosage of Mounjaro. Freaked me the ______ out. So I researched like crazy and bought a glucose meter (no one told me to buy one which I thought was weird) and tested like crazy. Then I stumbled upon Beat Diabetes and similar CZcams channels. I was at the point I felt like anything I ate was poison to me and it was a lot to process. Today after 10 weeks of low-carbing my A1C has dropped to 5.8 (lost 52 pounds so far) and working to get it into the low 5's. I think pre-diabetes needs to be called diabetes to put the fear in people like me.

    Omg i resonated with your experience so much! I wish you nothing but health and strength! I just recently last month found out I'm 1 point away from type 2 diabetes, putting me in the category of prediabetic. My doc never cared to give me information either or to reach out about anything, I myself had to come on CZcams and do a lot of research and thank goodness CZcams is an amazing tool for research and learning 😮
    Everything has changed so drastically and needs to change drastically, with no help it definitely is very overwhelming. Surprisingly, I'm actually enjoying using my glucose monitor that I went and got, it's the one touch verio reflect And I'm really loving it's accuracy and reliability so far. I'm pretty much testing myself before and after every meal to get an idea of what I can and cannot eat, And what gives me spikes. For example today, My entire levels were spiked for some reason ever since I woke up. My fasting numbers were at 125 which is high, And I didn't get it to come down until 8pm by eating a ton of a salad mix with a bunch of flaxseed sprinkled in also and it helped bring it down finally. You're right, Doctors need to do better with their patients when it comes to such serious things like this, doing it on our own is scary and overwhelming... Thank you for your amazing video and I wish you nothing but better news from here on forth 🙏🙏🧿🧿🧿

    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I too have been going through some health issues. I'm already a diagnosed celiac and there is some underlying inflammation issue as well that I am working through with my doctor plus borderline diabetes. Like you, I have also requested a referral to a dietitian. I keep getting told what I can't have, but what can I have?? Being a celiac is hard enough with all of the food restrictions and gluten is in so many things! I feel your frustration as I have experienced the same. You are right though, keep pushing your doctor and get them to hear you and what you have going on.
    Thank you so much for sharing. Because of you and changing your Coke intake, I kinda suspected that you may have diabetes issues knowing what I was also experiencing with my own health. And because of you, I have also changed my sugar and carbs intake. :) I never want to call it a 'diet', I prefer to think of it as a lifestyle change -- that is something I can maintain for the rest of my life. Not just a quick fix and then the old habits return. You can do this! I can do this! We got this!!! :)

      I have you to thank in part for finding the strength to talk about this today. Knowing that others are struggling in much the same way and need someone to talk to about it is very motivating to me to open up. I hated keeping it to myself and yet it's so hard to open up about it with close friends. Having this outlet keeps it at a distance just enough to allow me some privacy but also see the support that we can offer each other. I hope that I can help you in any way, and maybe we can start to share ideas of what we CAN eat! YES! I think that's where I'm struggling right now. No sugars, no carbs...what else is there besides veggies? Good luck to you and thank you again. You've really been such a good friend to me.

    There is so much conflicting information out there. For diabetes, doctors and others recommended conflicting diets. No carbs or no fats?
    Doctors tell you everything is fine and don’t warn you until you have a problem then they give you medicine. Nurse told me blood work was normal but a1c was 5.7 pre diabetic.
    Instead of letting me know what to do before i become diabetic they want to just give me meds after it’s so late.
    I have taken it on myself to change diet (mostly vegan except fish) and exercise. Hope I can keep up diet.
    Thanks for sharing your story.

    • @daynacreates1105
      @daynacreates1105  Před rokem

      See, technically, 5.7 is no longer pre-diabetic per what my dad says, and he's a doctor. I agree though that docs could help us avoid that situation all together well before we get to those A1C #'s. Even just knowing would've told me to start watching what I was doing and making changes. Good luck with your journey though. It does take a lot of work, but it's also doable.

    My pcp doctor told me not to worry about being pre diabetic. A few months later, I went to see an endo doctor, and she said the same thing. I am disgusted with doctors. I believe that because I'm blk, the expectation is that I will be diabetic so they do nothing.

    Hi Dayna. I am a full blown diabetic it's really hard. Both my parents have it. I'm also on the heavy side and my Aic was more than 10. They started me on this insulin medication that the side effect will make you lose weight because it will curve your appetite. Now I have a son and I always remind him to slow down on carbs because DM is hereditary. Now I try to do walking as much as I can but it's also hard because I work nights and when you get home you are tired and all you want is to lay down and sleep. Just hand in there Dayna take your meds, eat lots of vegetables and fruits always think of your kids you want to stay healthy so you could see them and be with them for a VERY long time. Ask for God's help to give you the will to face this battle. Take care of yourself and stay strong I know you can get thru it 🙏

    I was diagnosed as prediabetic last year. It was very upsetting more than for most since I am slim and usually, I try to eat and avoid excess sugars and processed foods. I thought a moderate lifestyle was enough to keep the diabetic genes I carry under control. Well, I was wrong; I needed. a more strict approach in order to not become diabetic. Take peace in knowing that you are not alone; however, with some diligence and determination, you can turn it around, just like I did. I was put on Metformin too, but after a few months, I decided to just follow my low-carb diet, two meals a day, and increased activity. I can proudly say I succeeded, and I am no longer prediabetic. It is emotional but after the shock, developing a plan and sticking to it will give you your life back. Nobody is more in charge of your body than you. No dr is going to help you enough. For Dr's diabetes has no solution, I am a nurse, and I used to tell my patients that they needed to take their meds because dm is chronic (I am not against meds, but I prefer to use my body's own healing powers first). Well, I got close enough to diabetes to make me realize that I was wrong and that you can reverse prediabetes. You can even reverse diabetes (not cure it). This will become a fight for life to stay away from it. Stay strong, commit and enjoy life.

    • @daynacreates1105
      @daynacreates1105  Před rokem +1

      That's crazy that you were diagnosed and you're in good shape otherwise! Goes to show that it's more about the health of your body than weight! I'm learning to find new motivations through all of this. I'm walking on my treadmill right now as I'm replying to comments. I plant to eat a good lunch then go for a walk. It's making small changes that will make the most difference. I too didn't want to use medication to solve all my problems. I needed to make new routines first otherwise, I'll just revert back after I'm off the meds. I just started a new med this week though, so we'll see how that goes. I just want extra motivation, and if weight loss is that motivation, I'll take it. It's also helping my daughters; Ashley gets on my treadmill every night to "stretch my legs for cheerleading!". She's 9! I love that I was her example to follow. Thanks for your support! Good luck to you too as you continue through your journey.

I hope you get the help you need, but I'll keep talking about things that may be working for me to help you out. This is exactly why I knew I needed to talk about all of this...as scary as that is.

My good cholesterol was 20. And I was on 2 bp meds. I discovered Omad intermittent fasting on CZcams. That was nov 2019. Today I am 180 lbs, bp Med cut in half, soon to be off metformin, A1C dropped to 5.9. Cholesterol 150. Good cholesterol is now 38. ALL from eating once a day between 6-8 pm. I’ve almost complete cut soda out, but tend to want a little each day. Like less than 6 oz, so that’s an improvement. Coke Zero too. I’ve almost completely cut starchy carbs; potatoes, bread/sandwiches, chips, crackers. I still eat fries though, need to cut that craving somehow. I’m doing really good at adding veggies for lunch and dinner. Not eating past 8pm too. It’s a lot easier and harder than I thought. But! I have a pair of shorts that I almost donated during the summer because they were too tight. They almost fall off me now. I need to check my other shorts to compare. Thanks for your kind words and support. I need to walk more like you do. I tell myself to every morning, but never do. That needs to change. I’m sorry about your mom. It’s so hard to lose a parent.
