Arasaka is one of the most important mega-corporations in the story of Cyberpunk and is set to play a major role in the upcoming video game. Learn everything you need to know about the Japanese company that secretly wants to rule the world.

04:12 - The Fourth Corporate War
06:31 - The Arasaka Family Rivalry

09:34 - Arasaka's Role in 2077
If you're looking forward to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 then you'll want to know about one of the franchise's biggest players, the megacorp Arasaka. The Japanese corporation has played a pivotal part in some of the most important stories in the world of Cyberpunk, and CD Projekt Red's game is no exception. In fact the game is looking like it's going to tackle a few characters and plotlines the pen-and-paper game has been building for decades.
In this video you'll learn everything you need to know about Arasaka. What started as a simple manufacturing company became a far more nefarious entity under the leadership of Saburo Arasaka, who secretly plots for world domination. They've shaped the world of Cyberpunk in many ways, including their role in the devastating Fourth Corporate War and detonation of a nuclear device in Night City.
We have several more videos that deep dive into the locations and legends of the world of Cyberpunk, including a history of Night City and the rise and disappearance of Rockerboy Johnny Silverhand. Make sure to come back every week for a new video on the Cyberpunk universe, and for all the latest news and details on Cyberpunk 2077, check out GameSpot.com. - Hry

There’s a good textbook called Archaeologies of the Future by Fredric Jameson. It beyond thoroughly explains futurist and how we discuss aspects of the future. Not that you’re wondering, but he literally wrote the book on how we talk about the future from an intelligent perspective.
Jose F. Diaz
if it wasn’t a book i’d actually look into it lol
Arasaka be like:
“I sense a great disturbance in the stock market”
Bogdanof: "Dump it-"
Saburo Arasaka: "You're five steps away from realising im 10 steps ahead"

“I sense Miltech”

Can't wait to nuke a tower.

Hold on, chooms!
2023: future LA gets nuked.
The lore of cyberpunk is legendary. I absolutely cannot believe how realistic and believable the lore is. You could tell me that in the future this all happens and I would believe you. I’m so ready for the game
And next thing there's going to be a 5th Corporation War: Amazon vs Lockheed Martin.
This games lore has alot of parallels with our real world when it comes to technology, politics, corporatism, overconsumption of resources and the degradation of the planet and societies but also the question of what is humanity and consciousness.
Except it isn't. Much of that lore was about the current era, and private security corporations have nowhere near even 0.1% the power of the conventional military.
Were already in the beginning of the future lore for cyberpunk when it was first written.
The stuff happening in real 2020 feels straight out of Cyberpunk 2020, from the wildfires, pandemic, civil unrest, Beirut explosion and more.
Yep. The parallels one can draw with real life are quite disturbing ^^

And King of Mars Elon Musk waits in the shadows on Mars to make his move against the winner back on earth.
nah, they would properly just married each other !
someone needs to make A.I art of Amazon and Tesla but if they were cyberpunk distopian corporations
So, basically, Saburo Arasaka is to Cyberpunk what Robert House is Fallout.
not really. Robert House to New Vegas would be a more accurate description.
Great comparison 👍
@KDXVII . still you don't think there are similarities? Both are incredibly intelligent business men that grew their companies over year's.
@KDXVII . right sorry, your 100% accurate
I like how Arasaka is paying homage to actual historical Arisaka (though not company, he was just firearms designer for Japanese during WW2).
Ohhh, I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing
also paying homage to that japanese ace saburo sakai
There was a bolt action firearm literally named arasaka among the japanese in ww2
Best rifle on cod waw, said no one ever.
My first thought exactly. So many ppl would have never guessed lol
The fact that Yorinobu was a rockerboy makes me appreciate him more than what he was presented in game
Maybe you haven't been paying enough attention. His goals haven't changed.

After RDR2 and Breath of The wild never played anything this good and beautiful.
The history of Arasaka up to the end of world war two is essentially the history of Mitsubishi, and it's noticable that the Arasaka (three circular leaves on a stem) logo is remarkably similar to the Mitsubishi (three - 'mitsu' - rhomboid leaves of the Water Caltrop - 'bishi' plant) logo.

These are great!
Saburo sounds pretty close to Seburo. Which is famous in GITS. And also Arasaka sounds like Arisaka which was a famous rifle from WW2.
Finished Nomad campagne in 85 hours, pretty much any quest done. 2 more roles to do, excited to see whats more left in the story for me. the game has many bugs, but its still fun to play and i do not regret at all preordered 2 years ago for a DRM free game of this proportion!
who's gonna tell him?
Alright, I will. There is no "Nomad campaign", because after the first little bit of the story the paths converge and there really isn't any difference.
@@Nobes bruh I think you're taking that comment a little too seriously. There's different intros and dialogue choices for each path so you can play a bit differently each time even if the main story is the same. It's called role playing.
@@alexb2563 I know what role playing is! I'm just saying that the life paths are certainly not as deep as advertised

arasaka reminds me of samsung today
This is explained very well
We have months still and I already know its gonna be fuego
I actually was disappointed with the Corp Life Path, you dont even spend 25 minutes in the „corpo world“, which makes it extremly difficult to feel like u were a corp before
That and your past as a corpo is almost never brought up again.
I'm honestly shocked that they didn't get Kojima to either play Saburo or one of his sons.
Wouldn't be surprised if kojima is a character in the game tbh.
I'd love to watch a TV series about the cyberpunk lore. There is just so much history.
This is a good lore video
A whole damn history lesson on a in game company wowww
Depending on the player, arasaka is nothing more than a stepping stone for our goals.
Was gonna start my game as Corpo anyway but this vid just finalised my decision. Think it makes more sense to start in the centre of the city anyway if picking corpo does that.
Great video
"We are already living in a cyberpunk world' is one of the most misused phrases I've heard that's being handed around this year pretty commonly.
We were always, and I repeat, always living in a cyberpunk world. It was never about the future or predicting the future, it was about the present. In fact, I'd go as far as saying most stories taking place in the future are about their respective "now". How could a writer/creator ever predict the future? they only write about what they see now. Which is why most people get it wrong.
As William Gibson says, "The future is already here, it's just not very evenly distributed".
Cyberpunk 2077 is gonna be fucking awesome. Can't wait. Fuck Arasaka, by the way...
"How could a writer/creator ever predict the future?"
They're not predicting. They're taking elements from the present and extrapolating that to a possible future. Science fiction writers have been doing this for a long, long time. Elements of the present are necessarily used because humans and their nature don't fundamentally change.
@@noonehere0987 There are a few authors who tried to describe future humanity that did changed. I like the Strugatsky brothers, particularly their books "Escape Attempt", "Hard to Be a God" and "The Kid from Hell"
@@ImperativeGames Well, you should definitely check out George Orwell in that regard.
@@Paktofonika1989 Orwell described primitive ways to make people dumber and in general incapable of independent thought... I would say that modern-day oligarchy is far superior in that regard to the old dictatorship he imagined elites will establish.

Everytime I hear Arasaka, it reminds me of Arrakis from Dune.
Yeah that what I said
Arasaka is basically a proto-CHOAM. As in, the plan is to become as influential and powerful as CHOAM but they're not quite there yet
you don't remember CHOAM
I love how the characters always know everything
I find it awesome that they named Arasaka after Arisaka Nariakira, the man who created the Arisaka rifles used by the Japanese military
