Note: Aubrey didn't hit Basil with the bat, she just put the bat there and tripped him over with her leg. Small spoilers below.
Aubrey would never hit Basil. The only reason she's been bullying him is to push people away, because she doesn't know how to manage her own emotions after the incident. She would never do anything that would actually harm them.
