9 Bartz we are so fucking back baby. Can't believe I never played tycoon in this list before. This is definitely the best version of Bartz control I've tried.

I am ready for a different meta.

How effective is aggro in the current meta and why does Japan play it so much? I been playing for a little over a year, the only aggro I played was FF13 when I first started. Felt like it could be shut down with any number of available board wipes. If they did, then I lost.
What are aggro decks are there besides FF13 and knights? My competitive season is over, I may play around with aggro.

It’s honestly pretty effective - Knights in particular has a shockingly good matchup spread for a deck as linear as it is (13 in its prime was similar). As to why Japan plays it so much, I don’t know that I have an answer - the main answer I can give is from an NA perspective where it feels like the top players value agency as much or more than sheer power. Maybe Japan is more okay with the extremes of aggro and willing to trade that player agency for a deck that, on paper, has a better matchup spread?
As to why Aggro is effective - I think there’s a lot of underrated skill in piloting it, as well as the strength of never being the person that has to figure a response. Daring your opponent to make subpar plays into an Amat is very very powerful, and the relative ease of piloting compared to control is very valuable in a long tourney. Even when I say I think the decks are more difficult to play than given credit for, I think the games ending sooner and more rest time means you have to be “on your A game” significantly less of the time, plus any mistake by your opponent probably ends with you winning.
Knights and mono-ice are probably the premiere aggro decks of the format although you could consider GigaWoL to be aggro as well if you wanted.

Haven’t watched yet but already the least exciting video… which has nothing to do with you, but how boring the current meta is. Looked at the top 8 and fell asleep instead of watching it live lol.
But I really do love me some Ghoul list reviews. Can’t wait for a new set though
